You fucking saved me man, I was going bonkers trying to get this to work using Email to SMS gateway which just doesn't work and causes more issues. This way is by far the superior way. All you need is a device that is online 24/7 and a contract with unlimited texts and your business gets free verification texts.

thank you for guiding me through how to recover the tolino firmware (I had a different os installed that doesn't fully work for unknown reasons but that is besides the point) however the tolino doesn't want to update with the tolino shine update zip from the tolino website. it gives me the error: this package is for tolino shine (imx_rdp_2) devices: this is a "imx50_rdp". Do you have any idea why this is happening and how to fix/work around this? it's a shine 2 if that is relevant

The importance of this is underscored by the disappearance of online content, such as the significant loss of posts in the "pxbinaflash" (now apart of voip-info) Iris 3000 forum thread due to a server crash. This to my knowledge resulted in the deletion of approximately one and a half years' worth of posts (March 2012 to October 2013), accounting for nearly 80% of the total thread content at the time. Similarly, there are several live CD builds by the user 'Joshoa', which are no longer available on 4-shared. Presently, the only available live CD build is hosted on techidiots, and regrettably, it only supports the recovery of MTD videophones. The frame is so incredible thin, but I try to fix it with plastics glue when I am sure the Firmware is in correct shape. THank you again, that save us a lot of money. The top half of my tolino is grayish but the bottom half is readable. Does this mean my screen is partly broken? :'(

The Lapdesk N550 doesn't support USB 3.0. Just make sure you are plugging it into a 2.0 port and it will work.

Excellent video - unbricked my Tolino with Rufus based on your instructions! Only that I broke front plastic cover twice while I was trying to remove it :-/ I've heard that tolino and kobo have the same hardware (for example Tolino Shine 3 and Kobo Clara are basicly the same) - I was wondering if it would be possible to install Kobo image on Tolino? Would it work?

Thank you so much for this tutrial! I've had the same problem with bricked tolino and I couldn't find the solution! I will try this myself. I was only wondering if you could write instructions for installing original image on SD card using Windows environment (I've never worked in Ubuntu)
