Saitiev was amazing. I had the good fortune to be among the NYAC wrestlers assigned to serve as a finals escort at the 2003 world championships in NYC - I was assigned to Saitiev for freestyle and Eldar Kurtanidze from Georgia for Greco. Both won their finals match. It was my first time seeing the superstar Cael Sanderson in person but I felt absolutely star struck seeing Saitiev. He was quite tall and lanky for the 163lb weight class. He had suffered a facial injury earlier in the tourney and his face was swollen badly for the finals. He was still jovial and nice (despite the pain to his face) as he waited his turn to take the mat. That era of wrestling was something else. Would’ve been great to see him against JB at their peak. Not saying JB would win but if Slay’s double leg gave Saitiev problems, JB might have a chance to keep it close.

im glad there are places where men want to be tough. i grew up in ireland and we just fought a lot on the streets. no discipline or technique. it just came natural. we didnt think we were hard me. we just want to assert dominace and not allow ppl to push us around. really, i wish we had wrestling in school there.

Zain is one amazing wrestler, his relentless on the mat was insane, he is one of the best overall wrestlers I've ever seen, he's there to wrestle he doesn't back up he doesn't stop wrestling after he's up by 1 point he is what every wrestler should strive to be like on the mat,.mind u I was a Iowa fan and could not stand him because he was always putting a butt whopping on iowa wrestlers but at the end of the day he's awesome

hey tj great carreer im the white kid from rich central i was stevies wdught vlass and vlndidered him my friend and the best wrestler i ever saw wrestle. you and joe werent bad either but stevie wax quick string and busted cradles from crazy angles and ended matches vs top guys quick 30 seconds or less i remember going to work with the twisters with a few of my teammates and Jason pero my sr year to get ready in off season and you were 7th grade i think probably 75 lbs or so maybe a bit more and i wrestled 135 in high school and was ranked in top 10 at times i was getting thrown around a bit by stevie terry dantzler and someone from mt carmel they were trying to convince md to roll with tj who at that point wasnt kmown much beyond twisters but new steve and Joe and even yhen j was like na i don't mind challenging state champs and rolling and getting tips from them but if i got thrown around by a 7th grader gjving up 50 lbs wouldnt be good for my ego . stull curious how ut would have gone but nope terry and steve and them didn't let me forget that all yearfor as good as they were they were coolguys snd dtevie was very funny. it was very sad to hear what happened to him and several others from that era in the 130 140 range gerdes stevie hruska mirabella and several others died way to young abd you should be very proud to have a big bro like him to look up to im sure hes still rolling around in the clouds
