"Almost Died In Antartica: A Life Threatening Close Call"
Antarctica, the coldest, most unforgiving place on Earth, had been our playground for three weeks of breathtaking scuba dives. Icebergs towered like floating cathedrals, and the undersea world teemed with life both alien and serene. Every dive brought us closer to understanding this otherworldly realm. But on our 11th dive, the beauty turned perilous in an instant-a haunting reminder that nature's raw power rules here.
It started with a descent into a mesmerizing iceberg wall, the light refracting like shards of sapphire all around us. The currents were stronger than usual, but manageable-until they weren’t. A sudden shift on the winds turn our dive into a survival situation. We had to skip our safety stop and bail in the first 20 minutes of the dive. The ice started to close down on us and we had to stay over the ice for more than 4 hours before we was able to get back to the ship.
We felt the full weight of how close we'd come to disaster. That dive could have been our last, but it left us with an even deeper respect for Antarctica’s wild, untamed beauty. It’s a story that still gives me chills-literally and figuratively.

I thought you could hold your breath. But when using oxygen you have to go slow?
@@MrXrisd01 no oxygen just air, pure oxygen will kill you at 25 feet deep. And yes only while scuba diving you have to ascend slow, slower than your last bubble 😎
@justscuba-e7b thank you for clarifying!
Great and now there’s more plastic in the ocean
Watch it again the answer is at the end of video 😎
For those who missed the lesson in science class jaw jacking around, this principle is called "Boyles law".
Awesome 🤙
👑👑🪓🪓👑👑
🤙🤙🤙🐳🤩
But surely, when you hold your breath under water you will first breathe from the surface, so air will contract as you descend. The pressure is governed by depth so when you return to the atmospheric pressure of the surface it would have equalised to your original *first breath volume. *not accounting for O2 conversion in the lungs.
Only if you are free diving but great explanation 🤙
"Bo.urr"
Can you show me this without the bottle??
Check the video with the balloon on the channel!
Tanks Man
Aloha 🤙🤙
Can someone explain what’s going on exactly in this video like I’m 5? 😅 Something to do with the pressure and breathing air into the bottle under water?
Thank you
Indeed life is great 🤙
Jeez Zaaa...😳 Head pops off.🎉😵 My family and I haven't been to the beach in a long while. Don't worry, I'll swallow down a gallon of water before that even happens. 😅
😂😂😂🤙
I thought underwater bong at first 😂
😂😂😂😂😱
He said butter
Butter face
The Bends👌🏼 Thank me later🍻
Yep !
I thought it'd be darker at the bottom of the ocean
Now you know 😎😂
People always hold their breathe underwater, just don’t do it and go up/down. Breathe hold is one of the exercises you need to get your scuba license (regulator removal)… everyone always take their regulator out for photos and obviously you have to hold your breathe.
💀💀
I've always naturally released air from my lungs on ascent. Why wouldn't the body force the expanding air out of a person's lungs?
Because is soft tissue. I did not designed our body 😎
"Don't hold ur breath underwater" Freedivers say "Hold my beer." 😁
😂😂😂😂
Same thing happens if you put Pepsi inside
Nope
@justscuba-e7b Yes. If you fill a plastic watter bottle with Pepsi and leave the cap on it for a little bit and open it, it'll shoot out because of the build up...
@ please do and show me, you would have to shake that like a lot to build enough pressure to make the cap fly that high.
@@justscuba-e7b I didn't say the cap would fly that high, I'm referring to the pressure of carbonation
4 hours of max playing minecraft! HELL YEA!!! also happy birthday max😊🎉
🤙🤙🤙😎💀
The BOOOAAOOL
Crayzy
Only happens using a tank though, not if you’re free diving. Crazy.
Indeed
I can't watch this without passing out 💀
😂😂😂😂😂
As he holds his breath to show us a demonstration😂
Arrrrrrr.....ar.r .r r r r ....... Arrrrrr
Okay turn into fish
Thought you were taking a bong rip under the sea 🌊 💨 😂
@@maddogmattis1775 😂😂😂😂😂
I feel like the ocean is the closest thing to being in outer space
@@klutchpaxx9249 Absolutely no doubt about it, but I would love to go outer space too 🤩
Don't hold your breath while diving. Excuse me but I can't breathe underwater.
I so very much wanted him to zoom out and let go of the bottle for it to zoom towards the surface
This is the reesoon lol 😝
Pressure doubles every 33 feet down as I remember.
@@mamajan99 great memorie 🤙
Thank you for retrieving the cap 🍷
Always!
don't hold a breath of compressed air while surfacing...get it right ffs
indded
We've advanced so much we can't afford American announcers.
hahahahahaaaaaaa
Twist the bottle on land until its small as possible and you get the same effect
negative
@justscuba-e7b Positive, try it. if you have an empty water bottle on land put the cap back on and twist the water bottle until you get a bunch of pressure built up in the top portion of the bottle and twist the tops it pops just like this given not to the same extent you got some height with that cap shot impressive! we use to do in school all the time until we got in trouble the highest i seen a cap go was from desk height to the ceiling so about 6 feet or so...
Try it we did in school all the time.
Don't hold your breathe while diving. **dead diving students float to surface**
scuba!
He has a valid point but lungs do not hold together like plastic bottles, but burst, creating lung damage and possibly bubbles in the bloodstream. Simply exhale, or let the expanding gases escape from you mouth/nose as you ascend.
If you are scuba diving and you hold your breath while ascending they do ! 😎
@justscuba-e7b You're right. I was trying to reference the plastic bottle. Old rescue diver.
You HOLD your breath underwater.... you just do NOT hold your breath when submerging. If you're 60 feet under you exhale your breath while going up to the surface...
Yes sir 😎🤙✅
so how did the guy from finding nemo drop his
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thats illegal
You held your breath in this video
I think this can also be used as a explaining point for nitrogen narcosis and the bends
Boaoor
Remind me to never to put a turd into one of those bottles when I'm diving
Also, do NOT swallow air while diving. Once, a diver panicked and accidentally swallowed air during a body recovery mission in a cave, then managed to calm down and get out, but ruptured his stomach while surfacing.
lungs horrible
Now find that cap!
I hope he found that plastic cap..
@@ellenbagby just watch the video again the answer is there
