Gigabyte MZ32 AR0 Video Out Problem
The video demonstrates the Video-Out VGA Problem of the Gigabyte MZ32-AR0 Serverboard.
By accident I found out that the problem only occurs when a monitorcable is connected during POST/BIOS. When I plug the VGA cable in after POST/BIOS (numlock lit on the keyboard), I got VGA output and everything seems to work OK, even the BMC remote console. I tested this with two different Sony SDM-M51 monitors.
I think this is a BMC-firware bug ( BMC version 12.45.04 or earlier)
Hardware: EPYC 7402P, KSM32RD4/32MEI
Scenarios:
a. Power on with monitor VGA cable connected:
- NO VGA output.
- BCM Remote Console gives: "Powered Off" and "No Signal"
- BMC Eventlog reports: UNKOWN sensor of type bios_post_progress logged "a bios: System Firmware Error (POST error)(No video device detected) was asserted"
b. Power on or reboot without monitor VGA cable connected
- VGA output when connecting VGA cable ONLY AFTER POST/Bios
- Working BMC Remote Console
- No Errors
c. Reboot with monitor VGA cable connected after scenario B
- Same result as Scenario A

Siamese cat that loves to travel
มุมมอง 2K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Our cat is half Siamese and loves to go on hikes and weekends away. In nature she walks freely, without a leash. She keeps in touch with us vocally. Like a little shepherd dog, she loves to keep our family of four together. And if we are to much apart to her taste, she tries to meow us back together.

Boosted Stealth motor noise problem (5) final
มุมมอง 3.2K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This video demonstrates the problem of both motors of my Boosted Stealth. It looks like the bearing of the motors are in a pretty bad shape. Problems started after 200km. Video was shot when the board has ridden 350km. At this point the noise is that bad that riding is no longer an option. Boosted support please fix this. Update 10/2/18 This is definitely the result of a what is called "bend mo...

hello How to waterproof it?
Do you make or sell the These up graded Motors with the New pullies?
Does it with w/ Nvidia GPU ? I have heard that is another issue with this board, which I am considering for my lab. Please let me know if you tried it would be very helpful to know if Nvidia GPUs work or not. Thanks.
Because of the video problem I used a gtx 980. Did work without problems
Great vid man
Given the choice again, would you still shoose this motherboard or do you think supermicro or asrock would be better? MZ32 has 16 ram slots though... which makes me wants to get this instead of Supermicro or Asrock. But the stories from reddit/STH/Google are quite scary.
There are not that many EPYC mainboards out there. Indeed the rams slots are one big selling point. After my first pretty annoying experience with my first serverboard I decided to return it to the seller without any repair guarantee. At that point I bought a new serverboard which was still the same because no other board was comparable at that time. So I guess this answer the question.
Hi, I just purchased a MZ33-AR0 motherboard and installed EYPC 9654 on the mb, same problem of no video. Am on my wits end as I have no other alternative to get BMC connected. Was wondering if you might have any suggestions? Have emailed Gigabyte support but no response so far. I just need to see some video output on the monitor - the most basic stuffs of all things. I used a VGA to HDMI cable as my monitors are HDMI input.
I guess you are using the 2.0 version of the serverboard because your 4th gen epyc. Well as far as I know by know this serverboard has an video out flaw. I returned my serverboard because of this problem and also bought a new one. After running of a year this board also got the same problem. No video what so ever. I ended up running my server with external video adapter. This does not work with the video console of the bmc. So I guess you are stuck just like me. Like I said i returned my first one and got it replaced.. i did not even bother installing it because I guess this one will fail eventually.hahha.. besided the video out problem this serverboard is awesome
@@ipasthemaster thanks I'm trying to install a RTX6000 to slot 1 but can;t even get through the basic IO stuffs of donkeys years ago. Makes me wonder GIgabyte bothers with the AST controller at all if its flawed. Is there any way to test the assembled jig is working? BMC although I do not have much experience in BMC - my first server setup......
@@jonmaster2143 The BMC always works even without a videocard. Just figure out what ip it gets from the dhcp server. In my case it always gives the message that there is no videocard installed or whatever. The bcm monitor always gives ne the ‘no signal’ sign. Upgrading bcm of bios does not have any effect on this problem. This is possible without video using the upgrade option within the bmc. But this is always tricky..
@@jonmaster2143 thinking about my original problem… the one this youtube video was all about.. this was before the video was completely broken. I had no video out because the monitor seems incompatible or whatever: try booting the server without the vga cable connected.. after POST try connecting the video cable and look for picture
@@ipasthemaster managed to get into MZ33-AR0 BMC from my workstation :)!!! But having some difficult setting the BIOS VIDEO to external. Each time I save changes within GSM (Gigabyte Server Management), then reboot. It will not change to external.....not sure how to change it from then.
Excellent video, i don't have this problem but it was very informative. Boosted boards are the best.
Anyone in EU who could create me a new shaft and send it to Czech Republic ?
Hi, I have the same board, but a different problem. I cannot get the fans to slow down after posting. I used the BMC to set different fan curves in relation to the CPU temperature, but they always run full throttle. CPU temp is ~30°C without load... Is there a setting in the BIOS what overwrites the BMC fan setting? Thanks in advance!
Have the exact SAME problem, can anyone help us out? :D
COOLEST of cats - SIAMESE!
Hi IPAS, have you considered starting a service to repair motors..? Where are you based/located..?
hi do you sell repair kit axis pulley ets...?
hi how you solve the hip rotating issue problem?
Hello Mark, i have the same motherboard is rev 1.0 and i installed an Epyc 7713 64C serie 7003, I still can't boot my server, I already updated the BMC Firmware and the BIOS, but it doesn't fix anything, I was reading that the support for 7003 series processors is in revision 3.0 that's why I wanted to update it, but in all my attempts have been unsuccessful. Do you know any other method to solve this problem with this motherboard MZ32-AR0 rev1.0?
Hi, as far as I know you cannot upgrade a revision of the board. This is the revision of the hardware. If rev3.0 is the minimum requirement for this type of cpu, I guess you are in a tight spot. I think you could contact Gigabyte support, but they are not fast with their response.
You can try to flash Milan part of bios,it should work.First revisions bios chip have space only for one bios firmware, while 2nd and 3d got for both(7001 and 7002 for 2nd ,7002 and 7003 for 3rd).Why i think its possible. I gave my motherboard to Gigabyte for repair, and they returned it with wrong version of bios(for 1st revision,i have second). And i successfully flashed it back for the second.
Step 1: have a machine shop
This repairing tutor vedio is so detailed and professional, after watching I got deeper knowing of my boosted board and its motor. But there’s not a “factory” for me to DIY.
I have three boosted mini x with 6 messed up motors with this problem, I don’t have the time or equipment to fix this myself, who can I pay to have my motors fixed in this fashion ? I’ll pay for labor parts and shipping cost
I dont have this equipment anymore, but do have.a bunch of repaired motors like these. I am willing to sell them
@@ipasthemaster is this still the case? Regards from a half dutch half Norwegian in need of new motors 😄
@@ipasthemasterAre motors still available?
Just out of curiosity which board do you have the bad motor on?and whats the milage it went bad? @@jreyna1224
I think I would have attempted to shim the shaft before turning a whole new one. The trick with the copper wire is a new one for me. Nice
Mark, did the time for the POST BIOS to show up got better after you fixed the problem? Here I have a similar board and it is taking slightly more time (around 1 minute and 30 seconds with no video output, then it shows the POST BIOS). Actually, it was taking around 4 minutes for the POST BIOS to show up (by default BIOS waits for 2 minutes for the BCM to start and my BCM was crashing). I upgraded BIOS and BCM and now I'm on those 1 minutes and 30 seconds. Are you observing this timing in your production servers?
The problem was the monitor. After replacing the boot time is still the same. A boot time of 1 minute and 30 seconds sounds normal to me. I think the boards is doing some diagnostics before showing the POST BIOS.
so razer blade only work with a usb c enthernet adapter or can also work with a normal usb a cuz i try and it dint work
Can you do the exway x1 pro riot motor?
Great Video. Thanks for posting. You are a clever chap.
Same issue I have the stealth er. I’m gonna send it until I can replace it.
Hi Ipas Projects - can we connect via email?
Did you manage to solve the problem?
Yes, it turns out the problem was a incompatibility between the serverboard and the monitor. I replaced the monitor with a different type, waht solved the problem.
@@ipasthemaster Thanks for the answer. Did this also solve the "No Video" problem in the remote console? Because afaik this should work without a connected monitor
luw8000 true. If the monitor is not connected the remote management function works fine. But when the incompatible monitor was connected the remote function gave the ‘no input’ message and also no video device error
@@ipasthemaster Ah ok. On my side the problem still persists, even without a connected monitor. Guess I have to wait for the support then.
luw8000 i guess you have allready upgraded the BCM firmware and BIOS firmware ?! You should at least upgrade. I have read a vga issue somewhere in the older release notes of the BCM
Awesome video! Where did you get the motor ?
Or I can spend $100 for someone to do this for me. It’s gonna cost me thousands for any of those tools. Lathes aren’t cheap, but someone doing it for me and applying methods to prevent this (better materials) is. :D
I would be willing to buy some of these if you sold them.
How much would you charge to do that to my motors?
What is the technical specification of dc motor?
Wat een mooie video en een mooie kat
Wow I’ll never buy a new motor again. All I need is a lathe lmao
Hi. Do you accept money or money
cool video ....too much work tho ....ill just buy another motor......
What size are those motors? 5045?
Do you have an email adress?
Heya, same as others, I'd gladly be paying for your skills, time and effort. Couple of friends and i have a bunch of clicking motors :)
Hi man! Are you able to fix the motors? Would love to pay for your service - I have a 3 of those that would require repair ! Can I reach out to you somehow?
Sorry, making those shafts took me a pretty long time and machining is not really my thing. It was ‘just’ a project. I stopped riding and think about selling everything. I’ve read on reddit that there is someone fixing motors commercially.
Very simple tutorial! I will just do this each time my motor gets loose. just kidding, I'm not trying to be toxic. Too bad I wont find anyone like you here in Barcelona when my Boosted breaks 😭
Hi, I have cash : )
so did boosted get the motor thing figured out I don't wanna purchase a new stealth and have this motor issue happen!!
There is a guy on IG who makes this.... @newyorkdiver
Do you offer repairs for my motors?
nice thank you :) but how you get the replacement parts ?
Do I have to connect it to my router? Or can I just simply connect it to my pc ?
Hi, what type of aluminum rod did you use for the shaft?
I used several types. These where steel rods, not alluminium. Most of them I bought on Aliexpress. Some where chrome-plated and had a very nice finish. Normally the rods where sold as 3d printer parts
@@ipasthemaster Thank you very much
IPAS PROJECTS after your shaft replacement did you find to last longer than BB shafts? Under replacing procedure you have used set on new bearings as we’ll correct? I’m concerned about boosted service now Days and trying to prepare for that common issue. Even was trying find aftermarket motors but no luck i guess probably would be possible if we had some schematics for wiring.
Man you should make a bunch of these shafts and sell them on ebay!
Please do!!!
I’ll buy one and do it myself at home, I don’t have those CNC machines but I have a vice grip
I know a guy who makes these shafts...
Seth Mottahedeh I know the guy who makes the shafts @newyorkdiver
Barney Villalona can you give me his contact info
I wish thet sold those shaft seperately
or just make the motor and we will all buy from you!
Much respect. Thank you for the video. Exactly what I was looking for. Take care
