Simple inexpensive off-road upgrade for my power wagon
มุมมอง 2.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Long story short I’m used to my little Jeep and my new power wagon poses issues navigating that I hadn’t for seen when ordering the truck so here’s my solve. You can just use your phone to make it a more compact solution but for TH-cam purposes I figured it was easier to see on the tablet
Color matching 75th anniversary power wagon wheels

Little surprise for you guys! I’m so pumped how they turned out. I would spray the rings then turn the fan on for 30 seconds or so and then turn the heater back on (didn’t want to blow myself up) to keep the metal warm so the paint can dry not the smartest set up but saved me a bunch of money and wanted to show you guys it can be done pretty easily.
Power wagon tucking 37’s v2
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is some under side footage of the truck on 37’s. Front and rear bump stops were touching not really squished in. Sway bar is being finicky as usual. Take a look at the upper link on the radius arm when I climb under the front it’s so twisted no wonder those bushings go bad so often. Tires are Maxxis razr mt 37x12.5r17. Stock suspension.

Been MIA for a few days traveling trying to get footage for you guys lack of service makes uploading hard with sticking to a schedule. Here’s a little economy video the zf 8 speed stays ice cold hammering up and down the Smokey mountains. Truck is uncalibrated so it’s doing better on mpg than speedo says. We have about 1000 lbs worth of gear with us.

Had guys asking for a video and when I was looking there wasn’t a lot on the softopper mounted to the power wagon or a Ram 2500 so here’s a quick run through. You will definitely see more if it in action in the future.

2021 Ram power wagon fitting 37’s
มุมมอง 57K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Theirs so many questions and how to’s on fitting 37’s on a stock power wagon, cutting this and that and I felt the need to show you guys you do t have to cut your brand new 75th up to fit 37’s. Left the truck dirty so you’d see if it was rubbing.

Just a quick look at the truck. Will be following up soon with an East coast camping trip.
I think they are actually a perfect size and like you said it's perfect for 95% of people on & off road.
What difference does your speedometer indicate?
GPS says I’m about 8-9% off
You have to be on level ground to operate the sway bar disconnect
2019. I went 2” level & 37” BFG KO3 ATs No issue on Stock wheels
Fantastic trucks! Father and son. Wonderful.
Why? Do you prefer less payload, lower towing ability, and reduced articulation in order to gain less than about 3” inches or so of ground clearance for situations you may run into occasionally when off roading? Do you enjoy replacing ball joints and rocker arms? Ram engineers spent millions engineering this truck for the purpose it was designed for. Trying to fit 37” tires on this truck is not some engineering marvel, it’s an act of idiocy.
Bud I wasn’t going to respond but you can’t even subtract 33 from 37 so I felt obligated to tell everyone that reads your comment to ignore this guy he has no idea what he’s talking about. And to anyone else that reads this I’m sorry I been absent. Truck has been wheeled a lot of 37’s and is now on 37x13.5’s and still no issues at 30k miles I’ll be back soon!
What size wheels and offset?
Just bought a 2021 Power Wagon and want to put 37" BFG All Terrains. You're saying the stock wheel wont work with the 37's? I need a +46?
No you’ll be fine on stock wheels especially with bfg’s they run a little small. You’ll get get a tiny bit of rub on the sway bar and radius arm but it’s very minimal.
Awesome man, thanks!@@wkmike13
How have you been liking the tires?? I have a white 2021 75th Anniversary PW, and I’m really liking the KENDA KEVLAR MT/2s in a 37x12.5r17…com with 21/32 tread depth, which is already 3/32 more over the stock DuraTracs, but the ones you have look nice too… How many miles have you gotten out of them so far since you put them on? Any wobble? Any uneven wear?
I liked the Maxxis razr’s. They did well year round only ended up with 20k on them before they wore down with about 6/32nd left so I sold them before winter hit. I’m running copper stt pros now and the coopers are a step up in all around performance. Seem to be wearing better too so I’d expect 25/30k out of these. I’m hard on tires between wheeling/towing and hard acceleration so I don’t get the greatest life out of tires. I like those klever mt’s was considering them but got a great deal on stt’s and always wanted to try them. I highly recommend the coopers running a 37x13.5 now with 0 offset had to take a sledgehammer to the inner fenders to clearance.
Put a 2.5" ProRyder leveling kit and 37's will clear perfect. Thats what im running.
Hey sir. I like your truck and content. Here is an idea for a video. Do a long term review of your razr mt tires.
These are good, definitely better than nothing, but if you’re going to do any serious rock crawling, go for the White Knuckle sliders. They’re much heavier at 150 lbs per rail, and are pretty close to indestructible. They are expensive, for sure, but they are far cheaper than the $10,000 to $15,000 worth of body damage you could do to your truck. After I bent my mopars, I got the White Knuckle sliders before I got any damage.
Taking 300lbs away from the pretty low pay load isn’t an option for me. My rails have gouges front to back and are still stout enough for me to set my truck on no issues so far. Crushed my rear passenger door and cab corner already so I’m past body damage concern anymore lol.
I wish they still made them
Are the beadlocks rings on this truck removable ? I guess what I'm trying to ask is ; are they simple covers that I can remove to change the color of them?
Stock wheels?
How have they held up? Using my 75th as a daily now and I want to color match, olive green like yours.
Really well I beat them up pretty good on the rocks but they have saved the rim and minus the chunks of aluminum missing the paint looks like the day I did it.
Have to put it in 4x4 low and in neutral to disconnect the sway bar. Kick lightly the sway bar if it's not working. I had to kick it a couple of times.
Did you use the same Bead locks?
37, is very small tires for power wagon, stock 33tires is 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏿♂️ power wagon need minimum 39 tires 40 normal, 42
Your not wrong but idk of any other trucks that can run a 37 all stock. I plan to run 40’s soon but trying to find a way with out the chunky AEV flares.
@@wkmike13 aev cool
Hey I did my trim rings orange on my 75th wagon but it is a molten orange and black trim been told a 1000 times how nice my truck looks. Yours turned out nice.
Hell yea I can see it kinda in your profile photo I like that color pop!
You ever think about cutting off the back muffler by the rear tire? I want to for better sound.
I have a PW and LJ. I want to paint my bead lock rings black like the rims and bumpers.
Awsome vid any rubbing when you turn and fully flexed?
The real question here is any 37 wheels will fit without rubbing? Are there is any specific numbers that I should look for
I got the 75 anniversary, still have the factory wheels that I really like to put 37‘s , I was about to purchase 37s to put on the stock wheels, but someone told me that not all 37 tires are the same so I am wondering what’s the right numbers that I should look for it?
A 37x12.5r17 is what your after. What they mean my not all 37’s are the same is, for instance bfg’s run notoriously small. Their 37’s are measured less than 36” in height. These Maxxis tires run true 37” measured height and 12.5 section width. The factory wheel truly puts the tire in the perfect location 95% of the time you won’t rub. When you start to run any with 0 to +30 you must pound the punch weld back in the fender or it will rub there. The portion of the sway bar and radius arm it touches are nice smooth touch metal which is ideal and you’ll hardly know it’s happening.
Is there a 2nd rock rail that covers the front part of the bed - between the cab and rear wheel? It looks like there is something there, but it's so tight it's really hard to tell. And thanks for this video. REALLY helpful to actually see how they fit.
Good video and two great looking trucks. I plan to pick up a Power Wagon soon. It looks like you are running the stock wheels with the 37's. Any other mods? Leveling kit? Wheel spacers? or was it a simple tire swap?
It’s bone stock just swapped the tires. And it gets wheeled with little to no rubbing just at full steering lock on the radius arm.
@@wkmike13 That sounds like a good option until I can afford the suspension lift I will want to add later. Thank you for the quick response. Stay safe on the trails!
Do you have a part number for them
What mileage are you seeing with the 37's?
I’ve got a ‘22 power wagon, stock rims are ET45.72.
Would love to see some mild off roading with the 37s. I have an olive green 2022 wagon. Digging the content 👌
How's life? How's the truck? Been awhile since some new content came out. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Where's your winch?
Would these fit on a Ram 2500 crew cab big horn? I bought a set and I got the bolts to line up on the frame but the 10mm boots that go through the body lip do not line up.
I’d love to see the camping setup. Take care.
What did you do about the TPMS warnings? I got 37s on mine after watching your vid. Love it so far.
I have been driving around for about a year with them on. I just tap down on the wheel twice to check out my fancy single digit fuel economy haha.
What kind of 37‘s should I purchase for mine I got the 75 anniversary to, I was about to order set of tires but someone told me that not all 37s are the same
omg the mpg is painful
Lol you are not wrong
Love the colour of your truck!
Thanks bud!
Let’s see some winch videos
I think you just sold me on the topper. Camping vids and equipment sound like good choice for upcoming videos.
Can’t say enough good about the topper I’ll own one for every truck.
I scored some a few hours ago for $250 and they fit my 2016 Ram 1500 perfectly
That’s a hell of a price. I was hit last year and they held up great but FCA told me they already quit making them they valued them at $1200 last month.
I was wondering if they would fit a 2016. I have a 2016 Megacab and guess I need to measure the attachment points. A guy has a set for sale around here for $400 off a 2021 Power Wagon
Ain't no way you're getting stuck. And if you do, you sank it. We just had a crazy random snow storm. Busted right thru it. No lift, stock tires and suspension.
I respect American pickups! Give me such a pickup friend? I'm from Kazakhstan
yes. its in the manual
Do you have the website where you bought the paint...I searched the numbers and it comes up with a color match page but not the actual link to purchase the paint....Did you use a primer first? Tks!! Looks good!
I went to a local auto body shop that sells PPG paints and had them put it in a spray can. I didn’t primer, the ring is aluminum and the factory paint is bit in nice so I just scuffed the silver and hoped the green grabbed. Couple coats of clear. Been problem free through road salt and all so far.
But are you recalibrated?
I’m not. Math says Speedo should be off ≈9% gps says about 4%. I’m loaded down payload maxed and boogieing pretty fast for a HD and through the mountains I was happy with the maybe 12mpg I was getting.
@@wkmike13 You know what, that's not bad then. I drove about 800 highway miles completely stock and got 13.8 mpg.
Let me get my 2010 RAM 2WD TO GET YOU OUT 💙
I could only imagine how cool you are in real life
Bro wheels! Love it. 👍
I've got an 04 TJ on 35s that I'm thinking I want to haul with a new Power Wagon. Thanks for sharing this video! It gave me a little extra confidence that this would be a great setup for weekend wheeling.
Hell yea it’ll tug the Jeep with ease we are going out this weekend again makes for a heck of a recovery vehicle too. Glad the video helped!
Old school wheelers know airing down gives you better traction in snow too
