I just made President General Eisenhower's eggnog. That thing is vicious. You use a pound of sugar, 12 egg yolks, a quart of coffee cream (that's what they used to call half-n-half), a quart of whipping cream, and a quart of alcohol. I used cinnamon, vanilla extract, and nutmeg as seasonings. So, I creamed the yolks with the sugar, tempered the yolks with hot half n half, and then cooked them for a few minutes. I added the seasonings at the end. It sat overnight. Then I whipped the cream, folded it in, and then added the brandy both right before serving. That is a heck of an eggnog from the former President!
You could also drink it hot

I am using your recipe as a reference for the watermelon syrup (which I’m thankful for) but I found the base recipe choice to be somewhat curious considering Jeni’s background. She never uses egg yolks for any of her recipes, and Xanthan Gum isn’t on the ingredients list on the packaged Watermelon Taffy product. What I’m going to do is try and use your syrup recipe alongside her standard base that involves the corn starch slurry and cream cheese. I’ll make it very similarly to the roasted strawberry and buttermilk ice cream recipe that’s from her 2011 cookbook.
When I made this video I didn’t have my kitchen aid or the ice cream maker attachment so I used xanthan gum to keep my base stabilized from freezing. My syrup is probably right. I’ll probably retry this one now that I have equipment, but report back to me how yours turn out. I’m curious
@@joshuarcopeland Mine didn’t turn out quite right, but I might be able to point to some mistakes. First, I think I scorched the syrup. Second, I replaced the citric acid in the syrup with lime juice because I didn’t want to go out to the store. Third, I think my freezer isn’t cold enough. Fourth, I didn’t use buttermilk, another lazy shortcut. The KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment is a great choice, I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I think you might be onto something. Went ahead and made Nick's recipe and was genuinely disappointed.
Give it a try and see for yourself. I used Publix peach ice cream and it should be in stores now since it’s seasonal
