Musical English and musical theater programs are not only educational pursuits, However, also in developing these programs, we realized that what we made really is a child leadership program.
0:46 - 1:27
We've all heard about famous leadership programs that adults go to throughout life. Different businesses, different corporations will send their employees to leadership programs to make individuals better leaders. What we already have found out is this, the many things that we get and we, um, learn and decipher on leadership programs as adults could easily be instructed to children. And if children knew these things and use them throughout their whole life as a daily form of living, wouldn't that make life better?
1:28 - 2:06
Wouldn't that make the humans, those students better? Wouldn't that make the results better? Wouldn't we thusly have better, more kindly righteous, diligent human beings? We uncovered this and we discovered this and we thought, huh, we, this means is we have a reason and a purpose and a responsibility to actually formulate our programs so that they equal a child leadership program.
2:08 - 2:47
There are no child leadership programs. What we really are looking for is teaching the human to be a better person, teaching the human to be a better student. Teaching the human to be a better son, daughter to be a better citizen. Isn't that what a better leader does? Isn't that what a better leader turns out to be, a better son, a better daughter, a better in individual in society, a better citizen, a better neighbor, a more thoughtful person, a more successful person?
2:52 - 3:25
Thus, what we did was we came up with 12 separate things, that traits that we instill in the musical English musical theater programs. And by doing these things over and over again, we help and assist the children, the students, to realize what good leadership qualities are and they now take them as their own.
3:26 - 3:56
Let me delineate a few of them and you'll see what we're talking about, the 12 habits. The first one being, well obey my parents. We should, of course, as young children, obey our parents. Not just because your parents or the parents are the voice of authority, but because the parents have lifelong experience. They love you, they want to guide you and lead you in the right way. Isn't it better?
3:56 - 4:08
Doesn't it make sense to obey my parents? Certainly, to try to follow in that as a creed is wonderful, to have consideration for others.
4:09 - 4:40
Think about the emotion and the empathy that is required in everyday life to understand the position that others are in, to look at in a loving manner, in a kind perspective of what others are going through to be willing to share, to be willing to truly be charitable, to take care of others. Isn't that a wonderful trait to have self-control and discipline at all times?
4:41 - 5:14
Not let one's emotions to get the better of them, to be able to take control of your life and control it in a very positive thought filled way.
Another leadership quality that we find important is set goals and then take action on those goals. Set wonderful, achievable goals for yourself and know that you through your actions, can have that wonderful influence and make those goals of fruition.
5:15 - 6:05
We also should create a schedule to live our daily lives by and then act upon that schedule.
Don't let time just go by. Don't let things just happen chance in our lives. Surely there are some times that that does happen, but we are much more calculating. We can be much more calculating and committed to a schedule if we have it and act upon it as our own way of life to always consider the possibility of a win-win situation so that I am not the only one that is getting the benefit here, but someone else is also getting equal benefit so that I am not the one that is getting the shorthand.
6:06 - 6:27
Let us work out a way so that there is a mutual win-win in the possibilities of the outcomes. Isn't that a wonderful way to go through life? Listen carefully. Is our seventh trait listening to others and not always wanting to be the center of attention and be the one making the statements.
6:28 - 7:00
Listen, some of the greatest ways of becoming a better, more influential leader is to listen adroitly, to listen acutely, to listen closely to others' ideas, and then take them in and formulate them and make them your own. To create synergy is the eighth habit that we want to instill. Creating synergy, being able to work together in a complimentary way with other people.
