Doom 1: Torture! - 30.6.1994 - Vanilla & Hard Doom - 100% on Ultra-Violence - (27)
Doom Classic video #27
(30.6.1994)
(Links, secrets and more information at the bottom of the description)
Hello. Last one of the 1994 June wads, before we're moving to the next month.
This one's been made by Marc Norris and it's his 1st one. It's a relatively quick one to do and mostly rather easy.
• In general, you can see some thought behind enemy placements and few triggers, which is good for your average Doom-experience. There are few traps around, but keys are safe to grab, unlike we've come to be wary about during more modern Doom levels.
• There's some detail here and there, mostly variety with rooms themselves and some lighting. Often you see, how some mappers lean towards either narrow or wide rooms and this one's leaning more towards smaller areas.
• There's a tiny bit of backtracking, but it's mostly straightforward, if you note the key locations in your mind.
• As often with old wads, ammo / hp / armor balance is quite favorable for the player, so you shouldn't have any issues of reaching the end.
There aren't any big problems with this one, but you'll occasionally tend to notice, how texturing could've used some extra attention. Excluding secrets, which are usually giving the clue with misaligned textures, some surfaces are just off or the wall is too long for the chosen texture, allowing you to see a small strip of repeat here and there.
Secrets with invulnerabilities felt quite unnecessary, but then again, so did SS and Mega-armor bonuses.
But that's about it, as far as proper negatives go.
Overall, it was a relatively quick and easy to blast through these slightly smaller-sized rooms vs. average expectation, while being well-supplied with firepower and health.
Enjoyable little snack from a 1st-timer.

    In the last minute of this video at (1:30:04) I could hear some pool or snooker balls hitting each other in the background or at least that's what it sounded like, do you have a pool table at home or were you recording this at a snooker eoom/pool hall lol. Thanks for this video mate it's makes playing some much more enjoyable when I'm not constantly feeling like I'm missing something or not entirely sure if I'm going the right way.

      Haha! It'd be rather odd, if I was playing and recording in a pool hall of some sort. That'd be my brother's pool table, which has become a bit too popular with one of my dad's friends as well, since I try to avoid recording at times, when I have a chance of getting too much background chatter and other noises into these videos. I usually prefer doing videos in the middle of the night, but can't goof around or get too loud for the obvious reasons, heh. And you're welcome. Yeah, I get that feeling of not wanting to miss something in a game, which doesn't allow total freedom with saves. Might end up being a whole new playthrough ahead in some games, where some sort of targeted things were missed.

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There are usually 2 upgrades available for a spell, but some weapons can be upgraded more than 2 times. Naturally the cost goes up with those later upgrades. But also one would have to consider the possibility of difference between platforms that the game is being played on, because PC-version and PS5-version (for example) aren't quite in the same state, as one would expect them to be in. While Pc-version is the latest one, but not without its own issues, the devs who worked on PS5-version port missed some fixes and things that were meant to be on the latest version, so it's in earlier state compared to PC-version, in terms of patched stuff. Also during these videos, patches were still being made and rolled in, so it's not same version throughout the whole thing, but rather 2 different versions instead.

    So, there's no way to get all kills in the tutorial, right? And it's not needed for the trophies.

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I almost forgot that I had started this one, but unlike most of the more recent content in my channel, this one wasn't going to originally include achievements. It's pretty much the only game that I don't have on Steam, but on another platform instead. And also this particular series is quite unfinished and has been on hold since the last uploaded video of 3rd or 4th level. Not sure, if the achievements were around, when I started this one, so I'm not aware of the variety of those achievements, what they required. But as far as your question goes, I'd think that you're just supposed to drop down after multiple imp spawns on tutorial. I can't remember, how the back area looked like or if you were able to climb up to the higher spots or not, tho. Tutorial doesn't seem to list kills, like the next level does, which to me implies that it doesn't even count them. But like I said, I'm not aware of all the required achievements for Prodeus atm, as I haven't needed to delve deeper into those.

      Hmm, I need to refresh my memory on this one. I probably did a speedy takes on these old Serious Sam videos, because I was still playing on my old pc, which was very slow on the uploads for YT and I remember file sizes being very bloated for these recordings, so even these short ones took like +12 hours to upload. I'll get back to you, if I can remember something about it. (Kind of a funny coincidence, because I was intending to do SS-coop with my brother just this week. Although probably not exactly main campaign, but who knows.. might slip that one in too.)

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi หลายเดือนก่อน

      Alrighty! So, I'm guessing you mean the one at 21:00? If I'm not mistaken, you can also just break the display inside that room in Sam's usual style of solving problems, and that way bypass the need of solving the little puzzle there. • Unlocks achievement: 'All Ingenious Is Shot' ...I think I might've just thought it being simple enough not to include or something, but can't really remember the thought process at this point. Furthermore... After googling and reading a bit more, I suppose there were 2 achievements linked to it, which might be, why you weren't too happy about finding out it already being all blue, heh. If you have saved your game before this point, you can do both achievements at the same time. I did a quick google to save the effort and I'll just slap the solution here from there, provided by 'The Last Rascal' originally on that site. (Because I obviously can't remember it at this point.) And I assume it'd have to be untouched for this solution to work in this order... (Original order was ... Blue + Blue + Red + Red ... at the start of the puzzle.) Anyways, solution is: - - - - - - - 1 , 3 , 4 (from left to right) - - - - - - - • Unlocks achievement: 'All Ingenious Is Hard' Hope, that helps enough, unless you got your answer from elsewhere already, of course!

      @FinSompi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure, if you're the same person as in Graven-Discord (I'm guessing you might be, hehe), but I came here to add some information about it, what I learnt more about it just now. You're probably aware of it now, but in case someone else doesn't have it popped, I'll just add it here and see, if I can add it to the description as well. So, full choir isn't related with the boss itself, but the red-hooded enemies instead. The developer said that they will add different ranges to the vocals and with death growl vocal heard in the choir, you're hearing the actual full choir... And then you just survive against that threat. (I suppose you'd end up killing them in the process to trigger it) Personally, I got this achievement inside 2nd Act's boss room (I think at the point of beating the boss) and that's, why I included it in here. I must've just happened to fill the requirements of the achievement during the fight, while I was initially checking around the boss arena and trying to find secrets or other stuff to note down, heh. It did feel like it was simply related to the boss and the red-hooded guys at that point, so I didn't have to start thinking more about the achievement.

    that looks like a lot of fun, is that hard to setup or is it as simple as booting the sourceport and connecting to a server

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm, it's been a looong time, since I did Hard Doom Invasion last time on the server and I don't think I was ever the one that set up the actual server to do it with its settings. I only ever did normal custom levels & level packs. Normal way of doing it mostly followed the normal and rather easy procedure of using a free server hosting service of either Euroboros (for EU-pings) or TSPG (for USA-pings), where you'd register yourself and then could set up a server with all the necessary settings configured and files linked to it. For normal levels, you would do something like the following: 1) Setting up a server - - - - - - - • Name of the server • Difficulty (I think this was just 1-5 or 0-4) • Player lives (0 was unlimited = coop, 1-x would be number of lives per map = survival) • Base game used (Doom 2) • Additional wad's or pk's (like in this case, it'd be Alpha/Delta Invasion file at the very least... Hard Doom for another, if you wanted to also use Hard Doom for it.) - And when you did choose a particular wad, you had to make sure that the database of the server hosting site actually has it and that exact version as well (in some rare cases). If it can't be found, it has to be uploaded to their database, so it can be found and others can then download the missing files, if they try to join to the server. • Then configure other server + game-related settings, like enabling jumping is a must. (which is normally disabled for Doom) * You can also have optional files, but I never got into those myself. ...and start the server! (Check that it's showing as running) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2) Launching Doom server browser program (like Doomseeker) • Make sure that the browser uses right engine-executable (Zandronum) and version • Make sure that base game path has been added • Make sure that a path for wads & pk-packages has been added to be searched from - Also to have a path for downloaded items added. (Ideally same as above.) • Then search for the name of the server that you started up. If it doesn't come up, check filters, typos etc. ...and double-click to join the server. - - - - - - - ...and at this point, you should be in the server, using Zandronum and hopefully without any errors popping up. The game will check for game engine version and all the data of the required wads specified. If any of the files and versions are even slightly different, it will give you an error and won't let you in, so they have to be exact same files, for instance. (It'll display the mismatching file with a different string of numbers and letters, if I remember this right) * If some setting doesn't feel right, you'd have to change the setting in the hosting site and restart the server for the change to take effect. Even though this is a lengthy post, most of it is pretty straightforward to do. Certain stuff you can just google, like the server configuration related gameplay changes, for instance. But I can't remember, if there were some additional file required for this in particular or if it worked the same way as with normal map-packs. If it doesn't work in the end, you could always also consider joining the Hard Doom Discord server to ask it directly from 'Aerial', because she was the one always setting up these particular servers. I can't do that atm, because she's offline. : -) (Also getting players joining to share the fun might be the hardest challenge, hehe. Although you can always try soloing, as it's not impossible even in Hard Doom for many of the levels.) But I hope some of this helps. You just have to try and see, how it goes, I suppose. I might have forgotten some step, so can't guarantee the success, hehe

    • @da_pwo
      @da_pwo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FinSompi seems simple enough, does doomseeker allow downloading required wads you dont have for the server or do you have to go find them yourself

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@da_pwo It can always ask you, if you want to download the missing wads, when you're trying to join a server, which has required wads that you don't either have at all or they're not found in the specified folder, where Doomseeker looks for those wads. They're also color-coded there. • Green = the file is found • Red = the file is not found and has to be downloaded. (It's also required to be able to join the targeted server) If you yourself don't have the files, you can check the server hosting sites database, select and/or download them from there, or use a big database of all sorts of Doom-related WADs like Doomworld to try to find, what you're looking for. And sometimes you can find certain harder-to-find WADs from repository sites too, that I think I can remember of using on very few occasions. At least I think that's, what they were called like anyways. (Not even sure of it anymore tbh, heh.) Also, regarding to Hard Doom Invasion (specifically), Aerial told me that there was a Hard Doom Invasion patch made specifically to remove few effects, which would otherwise cause fps drops. (Because how many specific effects can be seen simultaneously in bigger waves of invasion and also use of railgun) And also said that there probably was also a patch file to load every Alpha / Delta + UTNT map set, when she put up the server to be played. It's been a rather decent amount of time, since this has been done and it was usually popping up out of the blue for, whomever was around checking available servers too, hehe. But yeah. Gameplay was very different experience from the normal mapsets, and in a good way. Very action-packed and it made you occasionally do very risky moves that you probably wouldn't be making during normal maps, which contributed to the fun. : -)

      From which every one of them have had issues for some / all of the players to get triggered before, even on PC-version. Even I don't have all of the achievements, but I also played the game during more than just one version of the game (meaning that patches were applied during my playing) The problem has been linked with anything that keeps a track of, how many targeted things the player has collected / found. You will already understand, how these particular achievements are linked together. • The Parallel Path = Every orthogonal Shrine found and used. So, if you have found all of them, then the tracking isn't w orking, as intended. Because you're playing PS-version, I can tell you this achievement have had quirks of its own from the beginning. For instance, personally I got the achievement as soon as I found the 1st shrine in the game. Then, others have said the opposite of not getting it, but it's harder to know, whether they found all of them or not. • Illumine Sky = Destroy 10 projectiles using the Crystal Candelabra. A numerical value being tracked. Specific weapon and you can get upgrades for it, but despite trying to use it for the purpose of getting the achievement, it doesn't net you that one. Personally it never worked for me, so it's one that I'm missing currently. • Heretics = Kill 100 Dihedral with spells... which is self-explanatory really. Use fire, lightning or frost spells. So, basically you'd go with upgraded fire to do this one easy. The guys with red clothes, knife-throwing baldies and most likely the crossbow-guys as well, if I'm not mistaken. Kill 100 with spells and you should get it, but once again... a number is being tracked here. Personally I got this during Act 2, I believe, but I also have a friend that didn't get this on PC-version, so it probably got broken on another patch. • Clerical Error = Recover 200 health from Cleric healing potion spills. Another numerical value being tracked, and it has never worked right. You have a wounded monster in the scene (or sometimes even yourself) and the cleric will try to lob a potion at the wounded target, leaving a healing puddle for a short while, where you should go stand on and get healed. Pretty straightforward thing to do. Personally, like i said, never achieved this one either.

      @@mkonig Hmm, I suppose it sometimes depends on, where you stop playing and pick it up from in the next session. Graven isn't the friendliest towards short sessions and in my case, I did have the longest sessions at times in a very long time. I think my longest on-going session lasted 16-21 hours. Partly, because I knew I'd have to kill respawned enemies to get to point, where I currently may have been at, but also just to avoid spots that may have caused some issues. (Because I kept a little bit of track of the Discord, as I was playing, and noticed some people running into issues, when they were playing through the game faster.) I mostly tried to do one act a time to minimize the possibility of stopping at a bad spot. But because I was also trying to find it all, I usually stopped at the point, before I would face the boss next. And you're welcome. I have several glitches with this game. 1- some enemies (those who run fast) burn forever and never die. They don't attack you, just run in flame forever (they only attack if you are very near them). 2- shrine at 34:58 are impossible to reach in PS4, you can't solve the puzzle since the button never triggers. 3- boss killed me couple of time then he got glitched and didn't move for the rest of the battle. By the way, PC version is slighty different from the PS4 one. There are some gold bars and chest that aren't in the PS4 version.

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I think PS version isn't as up-to-date as PC version is. Not 100% sure of this, but one of the devs talked about either Graven or Phantom Fury, how PS-port was given over to another team to work and they hand-picked certain issues to fix, which were known at the time... Problem being that this porting team then missed or wasn't aware of other issues that were there, so those are still present. I might've mentioned it somewhere previously already, but 2 of the devs are working on Graven on their free time (without any pay), but that patch would only apply to PC version... And Fulqrum would be the ultimate deciding party, if that patch even sees the light of day. As for those numbered points... 1) Dihedral Deacons, guys wielding a staff and throwing knives, are doing that, because of you're using upgraded fire spell on them (or they caught it from some other enemy). That was old bug on PC that got fixed later. Basically if you kill them 1st with any other way, you shouldn't see that happening. They are in panic-mode, when doing that, but they will resume normal targeting mode, if you go far away from them and then return... At that point, they're no longer panicking, but they're still immortal. 2) I did write about this and a potential way to access the upper level from outside to some extent in the comments already, but naturally it's hard to guide through it with just text, as it's quite of an unintended path to figure out and perform. (And I'm not sure, whether it still works in certain versions or not) 3) Hmm... I might remember a time, when he was on the wrong side of the fence once, but not even sure of that tbh. Might have mixed it with some other players' reports. Only problem with that boss that I had, was me getting stuck on left side of the fence without being able to move anywhere... resulting me being just a sitting duck for the boss to kill.

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mkonig PC and PS platforms have different developers that have worked on it. As you know by now, PS platform was contracted to another team. Since even the original devs are mostly out of the picture, PS-patch is quite unlikely to be done. You can freely go between chapters, once you've finished the game on the selected profile. After beating last boss of 3rd act, you will find a totem on each Act's safe hub, which you can use to select the act, where you'd want to travel to. (New game+ was apparently planned and even to some extent developed and being more easily weaved into the existing mechanics, but it was left out. There was talk of this in the Discord very recently.) But, on a new profile, you could potentially use the easiest difficulty to blast through the game faster, while collecting shrines for example, because they're not linked to difficulty. Of course it doesn't change the possibility of having glitchy button for PS-version like Act 2 apparently has, but that'd be a new chance to try to circumvent it. Might just give the game a little pause, before getting back to it... or simply attempt it straight away, while it's still in fresh memory. Often games with shortcomings have ways to circumvent stuff, if they're not too strict with the movement abilities, and Graven definitely isn't that strict compared to some other games out there. Just have to use them well and occasionally get creative with ways to get over seemingly unconquerable obstacles. : -) If anything, it's also good practise for improving overall skills and thinking process as well!

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's getting very hard to remember any of the details of this puzzling mechanism at this point, but every sequence was randomized, so the last place for the SS could be different. But it was quite random, how it worked for my favor at some specific attempt. I feel like the video gives you an idea and shows the end result, but at the same time it was hard to explain everything with just the footage alone... (not to mention it still remained partly a mystery, how all of it clicked together in the end) Also the other comments can also help to piece together some additional information of the whole process, on top of the video description. I believe it simply was to get that floor down, have the randomized appearing of SS start and then basically hope for the SS to stop at the pillar, that you were currently blocking. And after getting SS, finish the puzzle off by getting the Blue Key and then doing one more switch to get one armor piece to make it so, that no other armor pieces are left inside pillars. ...but perhaps some other player with a successful attempt can chip in to share the experience as well. I'm pretty sure I had to take much more than just one take of this thing... Scrapping the previous take, because it was taking too long and too many randomized attempts to go my way, if it ever even did, heh.

      Hmm, another case of broken button. Well, I did initially get there in a backwards-way, which might still work... but you would need probably like 6 thin, long urns or barrels to pull it off. The danger is also with any of them dropping down to the ground and shattering, so need to be extra-careful with them.. Very precise placing required, basically. The aim is to use and go over the left corner pillar (and furthermore, available corner of that pillar) of the fence at around 26:12, and going over the invisible block that's placed around the fence. - You need to get on the rounded roof with objects - - You need to jump and land on the available left corner of the fence - - - You need to carefully place long objects inside the fence, so that you can still climb on them in the unblocked side... jump on them and crouch-jump over the invisible block, landing on the rooftop with loot on it. - - - - Then you just drop down from the hole, walk through the magic barrier by using the ring and you should have the stuff without having to complete the puzzle. However, I'm not entirely sure, if this method still works or if it has been patched, but that's the way that I used to get around the puzzle the 1st time, heh.

      Do you mean that your quest-barrel is inside the bar counter? If so, you can still get it out of there by placing other objects right next to the barrel, slightly pushing the targeted barrel out of there. It's not the easiest thing to do, when you can't see it in there, but it's not very hard either. (You can see the fixing method of that being used in later video of mine, at start of 'Graven: from Act 1 to Act 2 - A Shivering Lap' -video) And if you've progressed into 2nd act, you will be able to return to Act 1 after finishing the game.

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Might've been using wrong term on the description there (fixing that one now), but basically the exact timestamp given on the description is marking the direction, where you'd have to go for it. Because I had missed it during the recording, I needed to include it somehow to the actual video of the level after the recording, but at the same time, the character limit has been reached for description, so couldn't really expand on it with the directions, heh. The easiest way is to see it from my Selaco-Video "Level 7 (Pt 2) - Starlight finished..." and jump to 3:05 there, where I will actually show it on the video. But as for giving directions for this video... • Thumbnail is the vantage point from the location of the upgrade. So with the timestamp given, when you're approaching the safe room from that direction, you don't actually enter there, but go straight past it instead. And if you look around the area that you're in, you can see the sign seen in thumbnail being lower, so the location for the upgrade is on a higher platform. Because you were on the right side, facing the collapsed way and the building, you also need to stick to the right side. On that side, the only fire you can see, is the fire seen in the thumbnail, so you should be able to locate your targeted platform that way. (I was hoping that the thumbnail and timestamp were enough to give subtle hints to lead people into it) But you will need one barrel/object to let yourself climb up there on to the higher platform. The location there just is a bit glitchy, because at times, the slope doesn't seem to allow you to jump, but you just have to keep jumping and changing the spot to reach as high as you can do without using a barrel. : -) And once you're on as high as you can go without using the barrel, then you use it to jump to a higher platform that you can't reach with jumping alone. I hope that helps!

    • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My personal playstyle is often very advantageous towards finding out stuff in general, whenever I'm interested in properly playing any specific games. Normally I spend way over the average estimated playtime to finish any games that have any reason to explore or find secrets / some sort of collectibles. • In this game, almost every level has a 'Multifunction Meter MK.II', which can trace secret triggers or upgrades. That tool gives you location of a secret, but not the mean to access it. • I'm used to search every nook and cranny in general, while also trying to apply logic to suspicious spots, which I could imagine of having something. • Experience from other games can give ideas, how to search and what might be possible. (...custom-made wads in Doom can sometimes require eagle eyes to spot tiny buttons or exceptions within a map in order to find a secret trigger, as an example) (...Ion Fury had a lot of secrets, where some of them were quite hard to figure out or even had a clue for one in a previous map, as another example) • Inspect the architecture and the layout to find possible spots, or rule out impossible spots. • Even negative rating could be a reason to go back to a level and possibly find more, when it might appear on videos with guides or goal to find certain stuff. There's some examples at least, but there's still more ways to make it easier, like other players simply finding them and telling you. They might be following you, they might be your friends playing the same games or they're your fans, and this can be a tremendous help to some more well-known individuals. As they say, two pairs of eyes can see more than one pair! But personally, I don't really have that source of data with people that I don't know, and my friends play different games, so I'm mostly always just a lone wolf sniffing out the secrets... : -) It just can take a lot of time, tho!

      By the time of these videos, I've usually done the levels at least a few times, so experience not only helps you to stay alive in general, but you also start to know the most difficult spots and possibly even choose the most effective method to combat those situations, or even delete them, when they try to show up. (Mines, grenades, exploding barrels) Also the natural regeneration helps a lot, if you ever get to low health. I did almost blow myself up in one of the videos with my own mine, which I somehow managed to drop/use, while I was covering behind a crate. Because I wasn't aware of it dropping, but I heard the beeping, I left that cover... And afterwards was a bit confused of, who actually throw it, so I decided to blow it up, hehe. Due to the huge range of its modifications, I got a massive hit out of it, despite staying back by a considerable distance. That was in level 4, just after getting the Sniper Rifle -weapon. Another closer one was in 5th level, in South Mall, when I threw a mine for few spawned enforcers and they managed to get their hits delivered as well. Can't remember, if my own mine was able to reach me, but I think I was down to 12 hp or something. One of them survived the explosion as well, so still had to deal with him. Naturally dying during a level without saving during it would increase the video length as well, so can't have that! Average length of my videos are already way too lengthy for average viewer. Doubt there are that many people, who stick around to watch through the whole videos. But personally, if I specifically choose to watch someone play some specific game, I prefer to see those long plays. @@guanchu There were few of those deaths during test-runs or even an actual attempt or two, but I don't think single one was because of enemies, but mines instead.. You just really have to make sure that they don't hit anything on the way even relatively close to you. It was either hitting an edge of some wall or beam, or then the timing of the throw wasn't good... It often threw me off, how I needed to stand still for a second after clicking the throw... Usually I clicked, peeked around the corner, went back to hiding and threw the mine to a corner or just a wall in front of me, hehe. Didn't end up too good there! Thank you, good to know that the guide is working well enough. Surprisingly enough, there has been a bit of negativity going in 1st and 3rd level, but I wonder, if there's even anything wrong with those, because always have to keep an eye out for hidden signs like those. Only cut and apply full video sections after each other, if there's too much unnecessary footage (like around 40 mins of repeats in order to get perfect pizza in 1st Starlight-video, hehe) Mostly I've been told that I'm quite loud! I used to have VoiceMeeter on my old pc for some of the sounds, mic and voice chats, but because it could randomly stop working without me knowing of it, I've left that one behind with my new pc as well. But back then, I increased the db-level, while I was still using it, but mostly it's seemed quite alright personally... But, of course, people can have a wide selection of setups for their own sounds, so there's no way of telling, what's the average. (I mostly just meant my monotonous tone and a tad slow pace used in these, hehe) Appreciating the positive marks, of course, but still have to get those for a good enough reason! Speaking of the next one, I've sidetracked myself a little bit with Gta 5 story-mode (because I fixed my lag-issues with the game and I can enjoy the smooth gameplay finally) and then with some Grim Dawn as well, but I should get to that business very soon again. Go to Full Options Menu, go to Display Options - Texture Options: Filter Mode - none; and in Display - Hardware Options - Postprocessing - Palette, and also in Hardware Options Sector Light Mode - Vanilla or Software . • @FinSompi
      @FinSompi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not quite sure, if I misunderstood, what you're thinking by 'progression' or if you misunderstood me at some point? Generally I'd be thinking progression as being able to move onwards and complete the campaign, but neither Wilson or the white Koala are needed for that purpose. • Wilson is needed for an achievement • Pristine-condition white Koala is needed for Mega-secret, that doesn't count towards normal secrets (...but the upgrade in it counts towards upgrades, however) So, I suppose in this case, you might mean that Nail Bomb -upgrade, that counts towards the stats? It's definitely a different type of secret and when players aren't used to certain types of secrets, those can possibly become quite hard to figure out. Then you usually end up trying to find the usual secret types and spend a ton of time on it, with no hope of success. Usually in this game-engine, or classic Doom rather, amount of different types of secrets used to be more limited, but Selaco is definitely making use of a wider range of options. One of the devs did say that the intention isn't to repeat same type of secret all the time, but rather make them to be different and even unique. Not with these exact words, of course, but the general idea of the message was such as a response to someone complaining of there being just one openable locker, which was a secret He also said that every secret has a some sort of clue to it, so you don't have to resort to constant wall-humping in hopes to find something. And here we do have the picture and the hole for a clue. And the reason? I suppose reason could be that owner of that plushie has inserted a micro chip inside Koala's head and when it rips, it falls off. Chip communicates with that locker and opens the door. Without the chip, the locker doesn't react! It's anyone's guess really! But yeah... I like the game too. Sometimes you just need quite a bit of a challenge for those, who like to explore a ton, but also one can't please everybody with something specific!

    • @Camper_Samu
      @Camper_Samu 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FinSompi I am just talking about a player playing the game, you (as-in the Selaco devs) expect the player to handle a hidden plushie and bring it to a not-so-visible for a secret that counts towards two very visible statistics, it's a bit insulting. I am fine with something like the scarab shot upgrade, it's labeled as a mega-secret and it doesn't count towards the statistics, but unless I missed some bold, underlined, blue text in a datapad the koala secret is just disrespectful towards the average player's time and ego (Gabe in the HL 25th anniversary documentary makes a great point on stuff like this) I really respect the creativity and how every secret is different in some aspect, I actually like this kinds of secrets, but tying an upgrade to it without a clear and very explicit objective is not it. edit: to be specific, it wouldn't be a problem if it was for just a secret, but for an upgrade it crosses the line quite a bit.

But when the time came to record these videos, there had been another patch applied. After the patch, the Antler-slot was no longer something that you could look at and target, as if you were able to interact with it. And same seems to still apply for the buck head, because I just loaded and went through the level to check the cabin once again. I've never seen the missing antler, which made me think that I either managed to miss it completely before and now as well... or it was something that was cut from the game. After the patch removed the target, I started to lean towards the latter. Possibly it could've been in the metal door below the radio tower, that you don't seem to be able to open. I knew that the radio behind the big boat structure was reference to Graven, but unlike any other radios that I had come across few times and tried out, the radio in the tower at top of the hill also plays out Graven's old boatman's voice, when you choose the right-most button of the 5. It just didn't seem to do anything special, when I was trying some things after doing that.

      @@FinSompi Yes, yes... I thought you had slight Dutch accent when speaking English. But hey..., I was mistaken. :) I would really like to visit Finland. Switzerland and Finland both ordered the F 35s at the same time. I love those planes. Hope we get them soon.

      @@olivergarcia2304 Hehe, as long as it's not too much of the usual Rally-English, I don't mind getting mistaken for speaking with different accents. : -p If you ever end up visiting Finland, you might catch a glimpse of a tree or two, or maybe million...! And I bet Switzerland would have some good vistas to marvel at for someone like me, who comes from landscapes, which are largely quite flat! But have to say that such news about plane invests mostly fly under my radar.

    Don’t ever throw rockets at lost souls

      As long as there's some distance between the targets and/or reaction times are fast enough, it's most often fine! And it's fun! Rockets tend to get rid of stuff faster, but those Doom 64 lost souls certainly had the tendency of being unpredictable and fast to attack at times, so it has its risks, of course.

    Looks like a real solid game, I’ll be playing it when it releases on consoles.

      I've had good time in it and I've liked the variety of levels, not forgetting the nice music too. Looks like you'll be playing it in one week then, if I'm not mistaken! : -)

      @@tonybarnes4096 I'd assume that it'd be working on same version (Patch #2) like the Steam-version is, but I wouldn't know about that really. Patch #2 had 50'ish fixes on it and it was quite recent too, but the team that worked on the team, doesn't sound to be intact anymore. I think console-devs were different, tho. Nevertheless, I played the game from day 1 and personally never ran into a problem that I couldn't overcome. Naturally, since then there's been two patches polishing out the roughest edges, what it had before the patches. And while it's also different from Ion Fury, I've mostly liked its gameplay anyways. I hope it delivers a good experience for you too : -)
