When are we watching "Rookies"?

I guess, because you keep talking about it, I'll mention that it seems like throughout the Clone Wars series, even in the very first episode, the writers do all things to make sure that you see the Clone Army and the Droid Army as opposites. The Clones have individual personalities and therefore names, have different appearances, free will even so that some of them have betrayed the Republic and others have chosen a life outside of the military, and all the Clones are valued individually and are given individual rights, and they're loyal to each other, referring to themselves as brothers; but the droid army is full of cheaply made, nameless drones that are programmed and can't care about each other or grieve loss. Nala Se was surprised by how Anakin spoke of the fallen Clones with care and respect. He viewed them differently than she did. She views the Clones as property of the Kaminoans, and she takes care of the Republic's investments. To hear Anakin speak of them as if they were people, not property, made him a "curious Jedi" in her eyes.

Interesting that you use the word "genesis" because whenever someone even speaks of the Malevolence arc, the very first thing that comes to my mind is the music from "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" playing over and over in this episode. It was just before the torpedo for the Genesis project was launched and destroyed Khan's ship. That music played in this episode and another Clone Wars episode called "Cat and Mouse." I always wonder how many people have seen "The Wrath of Khan" to recognize the same music playing over and over again in a Star Wars program.

My favorite thing about this episode is the scene you mentioned, when Kenobi walked into a trap set by General Grievous, finding himself surrounded by droids. General Grievous, from a platform above, jumps down and lands in front of Kenobi and says: "Hello there!" So 3 years later, the opposite happened. Kenobi jumped down and reminded Grievous of that situation aboard the Malevolence. "Hello there!" I loved that! And this time, in this episode, it was one of the droids that said, "I have a bad feeling about this."

Only 5 views? Does nobody else appreciate the classic Droids Saturday morning cartoon?

There's no mystery, the show is trash, mystery solved. None of the characters do anything that make sense. There is no time delineation, characters literally teleport across the galaxy when they're need for the plot. Characters change motivation on a whim for no reason at all. Pretending that something is good because it's the new thing doesn't help anyone........

I could only enjoy it if she crosses her arms at least fifty times and if the storyline is as horrible as what Dave Filoni crapped out for the show, which probably isn’t possible.

I almost jumped the gun! When you said the release date was 2023 (instead of 2003), I almost shut this off thinking it was a comic unfamiliar to me (and I don't read/watch anything post-Disney SW)

I like The Phantom Menace and always have, but I will pass. I don't support Disney at all, in any way. I have the George Lucas bluray set, so I am happy with that. No need to spend money on Disney. It is just a cash grab since they are in financial trouble, though I am sure it will work since Star Wars fans are stupid and keep running back to Disney because they cannot say no and then stick to it. Never have I seen a fandom so weak-kneed and ready to keep on throwing their money at a company that hates them.

Its super refreshing hearing some possitive views on the prequels from people who primarily grew up around the original trilogy. I was born around the time Phantom Menace was being filmed, so I obviously grew up on the prequels. I also grew up on the originals as well when the 2004 special editions came out. Just fun to hear the different perspectives from all generations who watched this series. People always think I'm crazy when I say this, but I personally think the Phantom Menace is the best star wars film. Sure, Empire is the better film, but I think the fantasy elements and that whimsical sense of wonder and adventure was best utilized in this film. And I dont think its just nostalgia talking. I did grow up with this film, but I was too young to witness the hype. I was about two years and two months by the time this film dropped.

I hope most old time fans would not be interested in a reboot, then those of us that don't think we own Star wars can enjoy it without all the moaning.

I feel like most of the issue is entitled fans who throw temper tantrums over everything. Fans don't own the story of star wars.

Making money isn't just part of the garbage they're pushing on people who will support it no matter what. It's a cash grab at this point. Feloni sucks.

great podcast! if they decided to reboot star wars i feel like they should follow the way Abrams attempted to reboot Star Trek. The new SW universe should be connected in some way to the OG.

I agree that final episode was emotionally straining. So many conflicting feelings, when Sabine decided to leave behind to fight alongside to Ahsoka. I think that Ahsoka could have EASILY defeated Morgan Elsbeth with her Blade of Talzin and a couple of stormtroopers. For Sabine the whole season was just a bad decision after a bad decision. It is surprising that in Rebels Sabine is just TERRIFIC, but in Ahsoka she seems more of a burden.

Hello. I can imagine Exra, using what Maul taught him. Becoming Maul if you will. All the while surviving on this off putting evil planet. In order to not only help himself he has found a species to protect. Like a jedi. However in this wasteland he must be ruthless. And in this ruthless outlook in action. He has assembled a stash of dogtags. From his merciless rampages of death cause of course. And uses them as an outward totem to ward off the other knight troopers. Good luck

I think Hara just trusted Jacen. Huyang even name dropped Kanan to point out that his feeling should be taken seriously and expected from him. What an amazing episode. I am so happy they brought in Hayden and he did a good job blending the two Anakins together. Playful yet deadly serious at the same time. Part of me thinks that maybe because of the path he’s taken, it’s possible that the world between worlds is the only way he can manifest or it’s some sort of force nexus that she’s linked too due to either the sister or because she’s been there before.
