I've tried to run Baldur's gate 3 on my laptop with RTX3050 and Ryzen 5600, Linux Mint. I tried both DirectX11 and Vulkan. With Vulkan renderer I had good performance (setting are about ultra). With DirectX11 renderer I had slideshow. So I my advice here - user Vulkan renderer with Proton (it was my first game that I've tried with Proton).
