This tutorial will demonstrate how to do a 180 fold when book folding a measure, mark, cut and fold pattern
Should you 180 every page first and then go back and measure, mark and fold. Or do each page one at a time 180, measure, mark and fold?
I fold one page at a time. Sometimes two. I found If you do the entire book, the pages become unwieldy to mark easily.
I want to do a 180 fold but 1.5 cm instead of 1 cm......any ideas?
If you look on Etsy and search for book folding, I have seen some people with other implements to get the 180 technique in. There may be one for 1.5cm.
When is the 180 used in a pattern and can it be used with any cut and mark pattern
You can use it on any mark and fold pattern. I think it makes the books fuller so I use it on all my cut and fold patterns.

No, the pattern lets you know exactly how many pages it takes to complete the pattern. Good question. Happy Folding!!

Yes. The first tab I’d from the top of the page to the first cut.

I want the writing to show within my design. Should I fold further in than what you show here? As in, instead of folding so the edge touches the writing, fold so the writing shows on the fold?

Where did you get the ruler that you use? I like the bar on the end!
It so helps to make my mark measurements consistent from page to page. I got the clear one at Hobby Lobby. You could also purchase a precision ruler. I purchased this one from Amazon. Will you please explain how to do innie and outtie patterns?
Hi there. Not a problem. To do an innie, you would leave the first tab (edge of page to first cut), then fold the next tab, and continue alternating. For an outie, you fold in the first tab, and leave the next and continue alternating from there. If you still aren’t understanding, go to my Etsy site (bobbilively.com) and message me. I can send you a document the explains and has pictures. Hope this helps.
For the ATM pattern, is it possible to do the mark/fold & not cut the pages?
Do you mean the A&M pattern. If so, possibly. I think it would work, I just have not tried it. Let me know if you do and if it works. Send a picture too if you can.

What's holding your book it look like PVC pipe?
I created a PAGE PAL which you can find directions for or an already made one at Craftylivelylady.com It really helps to hold all the pages of your book as you work on it. Especially the last pages when it gets soooo full.
So is the 180 method basically the same as the measure mark cut and fold ?
Yes. After doing the fold in, just m, m, c, f as normal

Do we fold it to the line you made or fold it at the crease that you made. Sorry new to this project
You fold to the scored line.
I have a pattern that has duplicate measurements at the end of the line. What do I do with that? Example...4.9 5.4 6.7 12 12
That happens when measurements end up extremely close. When that happens to me - since it is the last measurements, I change the first measurement. For you that would mean change the first 12 to 11.9. Hope this helps.

So all the others I see say to cut one page fold the edge on the next cut one page fold the edge of the next so cutting every second page and skipping a page. What is the difference if I skip every second page? Does it look better if you cut every page instead of skipping a page... I'm confused if I should skip or cut
It depends on your pattern. If you have a shadow pattern, then you skip every other page. If it is a regular cut and fold pattern, then you don’t skip pages. Your pattern should be telling you to skip or not to skip.
Can you do a 180 fold for a mark measure and fold?
If you are just folding with no cutting, then no.

Is the cut and fold technique the same as the "combination fold" or the "combi". I am looking at patterns and in the description of the patterns references are made to the "combination fold" or "combi". Again Thank you for this video.
Thank you for your feedback. A combination pattern combined "cut and fold" with "fold only". With a combination fold, you fold (usually a 90 degree fold) to the first measurment and the very last measurement. Then measure, mark, cut and fold all the measurements in between. Hope this helps a bit.

What do you mean doubles every single page?
Lisa Douglas it’s hard to eat plain but I will try. When you don’t do the 180 technique, you end up with “shadows” when you display the book. With the 180 technique you don’t get the shadows and the books ends up fuller. I hope this helps a little bit.
Thank you for this tutorial I want you try a cut and fold for the first time but what I don't understand is the no matter what the pattern is do you skip every other cut?

Does it matter if your cuts deeper than they should be as long as the fold is even?

Where did you get your ruler?
It is from Hobby Lobby and the only place I’ve been able to find a t-square with the cm on the correct side.
