AC75 RC 2 | Traveller & Rudder & Foil Pitch
Here is the second part: The control of the traveler, rudder and the servo for the foil flaps.
The traveler itself is a sliding sleeve which slides on a carbon tube. The sheet is guided by a ball bearing in a 3D printed holder made of PLA. The servo is again a Ditex TD1005S which is probably too weak. It remains to be seen whether a sail winch will finally be used here.
The rudder itself has a 6mm axle (titanium) which is guided from below by a ball joint glued into the fuselage. The lateral supports prevent wobbling under load. The axis is also connected to the rudder pitch servo via a ball joint and is then connected to the servo via a carbon rod. The servo for the rudder is then superimposed with the movement of the pitch servo via the remote control so that no steering movement occurs when adjusting the pitch.
The small servos under the foil arm holders control the flaps on the foils via a Bowden cable. These will follow in one of the next episodes.

First test run of the new sail control for the genoa sail. Sheet paths still need to be optimised and adjusted. An extra servo takes over the shifting from starboard to port. The first pictures of the trimaran with more wind. You can clearly see the undercutting of the booms in the gusts. The wing on the rudder is here on neutral, with the next rudder I will test -1 °.

The dagger mechanics are now triggered by two mini servos to enable the lift of both daggers while sailing forewind. Both servos are controlled by 1 switch on the remote, where position "1" means both daggers are up, position "0" and "2" move the corresponding dagger into the water. Later I will use my "ArduKeel" Arduino project to move Keel and daggers automatically.

First test of the new canting keel mechanism (this time a worm gear). To further reduce the weight I tried to implement the keel mechanics and the daggerboard mechanics by means of a servo. By now it takes 6 seconds to fully shift the keel from one side to another (Servo speed 0.18 sec/60°) by using a faster servo (0.08sek/60°) this should work much faster.

      Der Tri hat keinen Motor. Es sind lediglich zwei Servos verbaut für die Segel und das Ruder.

    Warum hast du am Ruder ein T foil aber kein foiling Setup? Bremst dann ja eher und führt zu unterschneiden oder? Bestimmt kommen die anderen foils noch dazu oder? Aber sonst ein super Boot, wie viel wiegt der Kahn segelfertig? Ist foiling möglich?

      Das T-Foil hinten sorgt für Stabilität vor dem Wind. Wenn der Tri sich durch die Windlast nach vorne neigt, schafft das T-Foil entsprechend Gegenkraft. Seitdem hatte ich keinen Stolperer mehr bei Vorwind. Prinzipiell kann der Tri auch foilen, Halterungen sind jedoch noch nicht vorgesehen. In der Konfiguration lag er RtS bei 2.400 gr inkl. Rig, Schwert Ruder Servos und Akku.

      Easier? Yes! But at the same time much heavier. Here I have one servo doing three things at the same time: Canting the keel, lifting and lowering the two daggers. Reliability is 100% by now.

How will you seal the opening around the keel rotation point? The keel will be placed probably more in the front and connected via shaft so you need just normal grease?

      I build a wet box around the keel rotating axis, so no need to seal the axis (which I guess would not be watertight anyway)

    Molto utile per chi vuole progettare in scala grande, quindi un piccolo progetto RC aiuta a capire e ridurre le spese di un progetto. Nel tuo caso, mi sembra che gli scafi laterali, siano troppo inclinati in avanti, comunque complimenti, veramente fantastica!!🏆 🏆 🏆

In effetti, ho un nuovoIn effetti, c'erano diversi problemi: Il vang del boma non era abbastanza rigido e i galleggianti laterali erano montati troppo in alto nella parte anteriore.       The skate 1000 needs a bigger main and /or a smaller jib. Try to trim it as much backwards as possible. Even putting the batteries backwards might help. Have an special eye on the gooseneck as well. There's a lot of potential in that Trimaran ;-)

      The motor was actually a standard servo with modified poti (spindle poti) which led to a total of 9 full turns. Today I would do that with a programmable servo like Ditex TD1005s which can be programmed to 9 full turns. Attached to the servo axis was a simple worm gear with a ratio of 20:1 Module .5 . Since the 3d printed housing wasn't stable enough to handle the dynamic(!) loads, I changes the full construction and used a 3D printed Module 1 , 100 teeth gear segment instead.       Die reine Konstruktion ist (leider) immer sehr schnell gemacht, und den Rest macht der 3D-Drucker. Das geht in WIrklichkeit immer noch viel schneller, mir fehlt bloß meist die Gelegenheit zum Segeln. Bändsel brauch ich erst wenn ich Regatten fahren will. Bis dahin lese ich die Wellen, wie beim Windsurfen auch, das und die Reaktion des Tris geben mir genügend Info was ich tun muss.

      Die Verstärkungen sind mit Kitetape, in dem Fall von m2 gemacht, das Segel selbst ist normale Mylarfolie.

      Not enough space since the rudder , main and gennaker servos sitting in the same compartment. Believe me, I tried, but no chance to get it flat to lower the center of gravity.
