🤔 I’ve seen reviews of Blood at the Root where the slang is mentioned me I didn’t mind it felt true to how ppl in their age range talk rn it’s a product of it’s time and it didn’t take my enjoyment away at all. I REALLY enjoyed it. I told someone if slang bothers you it might be a problem but it’s dumb and thank you for sharing the Langston v. Zora discourse bc it nvr seems to go away keeps coming back 📚

Omg so fun I read Rebel by Beverly Jenkins in February as well I love your thoughts on the topic and agreed she did an amazing take on Reconstruction and the Freedman’s Bureau it jogged my memory of what I’d learned in school about it and gave such a thoughtful nuanced story with that as a backdrop 📚

It was at that point I was like, "Oh shit, that's me, and I definitely had to check myself.
