David Edgar WAVA Washington DC 1990 aircheck

I have thousands of unmarked cassettes in a box in my basement. Sometimes I pull one out to see what is on them. Today's random selection is from 105 WAVA, Washington DC. (I believe this was Sunday March 4, 1990 - based on the Billy Joel show I mentioned. He did 3 nights in DC in 1990: Jan 11, Mar 3, and July 15) Enjoy Vic Caroli (MTV/transformer movie voice) inviting folks to call me on the rq...

This is a compilation of my first 10 years on the radio. It starts with WFCH Falls Church High school. My brother Rob and I started that station in 1983. Gregory Lygon can also be heard, going by the name Michael Corleone. Next is WPRW Manassas VA (1986). The first two stations I used the fake name David Deagon. Next is WAVA, Washington DC (1989), WBSB - B104 Baltimore (1991) and finally WBZZ B...

I Still Got My Shirt From The Concert
I remember the "biggest hits in town," ad. Lol. Pretty sure they got a lot of flack for that one.
Playing the same old tired songs since the 60s70s80s,, stoped Listening 2 decades ago! Started pushing the liberal agenda! Dev sux
Wtf are you talking about😂😂
This was awesome to watch!! Wow did it take me back 😊 Things were so much better before iheart came along
this is awesome!! Marietta PA
The Greatest Station Ever!!!
I was there! Pretty much rained the whole time..Awesome experience!!!!
You were the voice of my youth.
The early 90s vibe in Pittsburgh was so great and Paulson and Keen were huge parts of it.
Now it sucks with libtard randy. No comedy anymore. DVE died with paulson and krenn
Now, this is how it's done! Perfect timing, interaction, great segues, high energy, and served up fresh! It doesn't get any better.
Superb, energetic and oh sooooo good! It's David Edgar! Take note all you upcoming baby DJ's...this is how it's done!
David is tight and loves leading up to the post! That's talent!! Radio as it should be!! Well done!
A fabulous send-off for a fabulous radio station. Thanks for the upload.
Talk about a natural!! Great job Man!

B94 started going downhill imo in the late 90's so this was still a good era imo. I grew up listening to Quinn and Banana, Troy Garrett, Sunny Jo Fox, John Kline, all DJ's in the 80's. John Kline obv became 1 of way too many morning hosts in the 2000's. That show for me was the icing on the cake for me to stop listening. John, Dave, Bubba, Shelley was imo the worst morning show I've ever listened to in my 48 years of life. RIP B-94.
THANK YOU! I've alway's thought that 'Quinn & Banana' was better, and that B-94 died when Jim Quinn left.
If only WYDD, WXXP, WFGM, or Z107 FM lasted as long as WDVE.
i went to this show and i jnew from when this tour happened it was going to be a disaster it was the tour that should have never happened
Christian talk station for 33 years.
What? Genesis? Repeat, like, fraud, fraud, 13,13, fraud. SHOT.......Amanda
This is awesome!!!! Sounded great David!!
Was "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M the final song that was played on WAVA before the flip to Contemporary Christian Music?
Nope, Goodbye by Night Ranger. I wish it was "Sympathy for the Devil".
We really should have appreciated those times more
Yeah agreed. 🔫
Secrets keep you sick. I'm not down with corruption. SEE YOU SOON... 😘 A
Way-Vah!
WDVE forever!!!!
Love airchecks like this, keep on posting if you can! Great team at WAVA back during this time.
Was there!! What a show and a storm!! The mighty Metallica ruled the night!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The only thing I got from WDVE was A wake up call. In the 90's, we would listen to the morning show and I would feel like, I don't want to live like this. The constant, "Get drunk, watch the steelers, make an ass of myself, go to work, tell my boss to go to hell because I am too hung over to function". I thought this was how adults lived so it made me not want to end up like this. For them to celebrate this, especially when teenagers were listening to this, sends a wrong message.
That's probably why I never embraced DVE as much as I did 80's B-94. WYDD, Z107, or the stations from Stubbenvile. Granted, some of Jimmy & Steve, and Paulsen & Krenn's bits did make me laugh, but I thought Quinn & Banana were funnier in my opinion.
Nobody cares
That was my very first concert and still the best one I have seen
Yes, This Definitely Sounds Like March 4, 1990.
I still can't understand why Val loves Van Halen so much.
I would love to be able to listen to a whole random day of broadcast from just about anytime in the 90's
Still shouldn’t have fired Jimmy Krenn!!
Still shouldn't have fired Jimmy & Steve, either.
My Dad Told me about this concert. He said it rocked.
I'll never forget this show 🤘🏻 Metallica Ruled the night in true form. Lightning and thunder!!
Thank you for this upload! I still have the audio on cassette listening on that sad night!
So nostalgic! Thanks David! I remember listening to you from high school days. I miss WAVA and all the deejays back those days! :)
when dve was worth listening too
themopar426 actualy, last month DVE put in our highest ratings in our 50 year history. So yeah... 😂

Haven’t changed their playlist for 50 years either. SiriusXM all the way.
My dad took me to this show when I was 10 and it changed my life! I’m lucky to live in LA now and work in the music industry but it all stems from this night. Thank you so much for helping bring back great memories!
This is cool. I pretty much only listened to WDVE back then (Eagle 107.5 eventually too) because B94 was a pop station. I saw this concert (Section 645, about 10 rows from the top, dead center - nosebleeds!). We were at the stadium at around 10am and hung out until going in around 4pm. I think it was around 6 or 7 when Faith No More went on. It rained like hell for a little while but eventually cleared up for Metallica, then GNR. The dude I went with (and his lame ass coworker & girlfriend) wanted to "beat the traffic", so they left during the 1st encore of GNR. I stuck around because I had run into 2 other buddies pre-show and they told me where they parked. Afterwards, I hopped in the back of dude's pickup and we went downtown to a fancy hotel where the band was staying. We stood outside the entrance with about 10 other random people all night long as different band members arrived in limos sporadically. Duff walked right through us without stopping for pics or autographs; Slash's limo showed up, the back door opened and 2 chicks got out with their tits popped out of their dresses. Slash was sitting with his head leaned back with a cigarette in his mouth - he left without getting out; Lars showed up and took pics and signed stuff for about 5 minutes but was super bitchy; James was cool as hell! He gave my buddy a pick then hung out with us all for probably 15 minutes. We were told that we missed Jason prior to getting there and then found out Axel actually went to the hospital after the show because of a sore throat. Nobody else arrived that we saw. We ended up leaving around 6am. What a killer memory!!! Glad I found this video!
Can someone out here please please tell me...or remember...the name of the music that intro-ed Marcy's Midnight Fusion? My gosh I've been wracking my brain trying to remember...anyone remember?
