WPAQ 740am is a traditional Bluegrass and Old Time Music radio station broadcasting from Mount Airy, NC. The station was started in 1948, by broadcasting pioneer Ralph Epperson. WPAQ broadcasts locally at 740am and worldwide at www.wpaq740.com. This channel features videos from our weekly Merry Go Round program, which showcases two local or regional groups, and airs live each Saturday from 11-1:30. The Merry Go Round is broadcast from the Historic Earle Theatre in Downtown Mount Airy and is the second longest continuously running program of it’s kind, and second only to the Grand Old Opry! This page also features videos from events which we broadcast live on our station like the Mount Airy Fiddlers Convention, which takes place annually the first weekend of June at Veterans Memorial Park in Mount Airy.
