I've had mine for over 10 years. Allegedly it is worth the same now. 😊
Surely will start to gain value soon 🤙🏻 In any case, it's so good that the experience worth all
1979 was the best year. Turns much better and is 0-60 in 6 sec.
Coffee and dining elegance
For all your best occasions!
Sometimes i watch this video and looking at how much youre enjoying this car makes me smile. Cant wait to get my hands on one hopefully next year by this time i will be an owner of a c3.
Let's go my friend, you will love it! I do my best to show the feelings I get from driving this amazing cars. Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate your comment
So easy to upgrade the 5.7
What you mean? I'm genuinely curious because probably one day I will buy one
@TheWastedDriver put aftermarket heads, intake manifold, dual feed holley carb, tubular exhaust headers, a performance hydraulic cam that will work with stock converter. You could possibly 350 plus HP and torque in the 400's
Oh wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for the information buddy, I surely keep all in mind for the future!
Good Review 👍
Thanks for the comment! Really appreciate it
I love mine. Like a classy mini Hellcat or mini SLR. Cheers.
A mini SLR is the best definition for this car!
@ yes sir and I would like to get these turbine wheels. I’ve seen them on it and looks very much like a mini slr. Lorinser RS8 wheels.
That's not a real pickup just so you know. No hating. Just saying...get a 1 ton next time for the full experience.
I understand what you're saying but think of this from my perspective... I know (now) that for US citizens it's nothing special the Z71 but a Chrysler 300C is considered a "big" car in Europe so this one for us it's like a 3-axle truck. I promise that the next time I'm in the US I will rent a bigger one. You have some good one to recommend?
@TheWastedDriver Ford F250 or F350, Ram 2500 or 3500, Chevy 2500 or 3500. I completely understand. I would've just loved to see your reaction. You'd feel like you're driving a dunp truck or 18 wheeler. The 250 and 2500 are 3/4 ton. The 350 and 3500 are 1 ton. They're essentially the same trucks with different suspension for more or less weight.
I can't wait to test one of these in the future. Thanks for the recommendation 🤙🏻
only in america this is not a real truck or a small pickup lol
@@sebastiannot lol ya those are like toy trucks here
Good to see you made it over here! Hope you enjoyed Texas.
Codyyyyy 🫶🏻 Thanks man, love it there! I can't wait to be back in the US
@TheWastedDriver come to Cleveland and I'll take you to a Cavs game.
@codygeister sure thing!
Just bought a 1981. Incredible car
I'm sure you will enjoy that drive my friend 🤙🏻
I own this in manual transmission but after looking at video I can surely tell that lot of cosmetic bits are missing in the Indian version. Also the fantastic rear diffuser with the rear fog lamp is missing. The center console seems to be way better in the European version and we don't get the drive modes as well. And yeah the seats are different too.
Maybe thats due some manufacturing law or something, I thought they make the same model for all continents but seems it's not like that. Thanks for the information buddy!
Quella che mancava al distributore è una Mazda 323.
Sapevo era una Mazda, zero idee sul modello. Messaggio utilissimo, grazie dell'informazione 🙏🏻
So happy to see the attention given to this wonderful example of craftsmanship.. I have a '94 968 cabriolet and it is a DREAM to drive.. I get SO many compliments and it is a real head turner here in Las Vegas, where there are only 2 others that I have ever seen out here.. Of course, mine is the nicest.. LOL..
It's rare here in Europe, i can't imagine in the US. I'm 100% sure you're enjoying every drive in your 968 (I've heard people says it's the nicest in Vegas 🤙🏻)
top !
Thanks 🙏🏻

The only downside to these cars (and I have one) is the gearbox. It's great on the open road, but not so great around town. It changes down too quick and changes up too slowly, and that is a problem when you have 20-mph speed limits, as we do here in Bristol, UK. This car is made to be driven hard. Having said that I love it and they are rare on the road here so it makes you feel good.
Surely every car has positive and negative things but I think globally, the 55 it's damn good under a lot of aspects. Thanks for the info on the gearbox, didn't feel that when I test it, but I did't use the car in traffic (thankfully)
Hallo! May you please enlighten me on a general service of this car? How is the general maintenance and service of slk 55 amg? Does it take a lot of cash out of a pocket in replacement of certain parts that need to be replaced? This is absolutely my favourite roadster of all time and I am considering buying anyone between year model 2005 - 2015, as long as I find it in a mint condition both mechanically and physically. I must collect one of these definitely. I think you are one of the people who have massive experience with SLK 55 AMG and your enlightenment in this regard with be highly valued and appreciated.
@@sykotradingclosecorpMine has been fairly bombproof and anything that has gone wrong (nothing really) has been fairly affordable to fix with a decent, honest mechanic. You can’t go to a Merc main dealer because they will try to charge you silly money. For example: They tried to charge me thousands for a new fuel tank and fuel pump because a small wire connector overheated and they don’t sell that part separately (it costs about £1…). That’s probably true of all dealerships though. The knowledge on SLK forums is very good and it’s not an overly complicated car. Maintenance isn’t bad except for the front brake discs which are ~£700 each BUT, I’ve never had to replace them. They last a very long time. Everything costs a slight premium, just like the fuel but you get so much enjoyment from it, it’s money well spent. Driving this car with the roof down with an X-pipe in the mountain roads of Europe is one of the best experience I’ve ever had. It’s the perfect size and weight for small switchback roads. It has Porsche build quality. You can drive it hard and it will be fine. Just let it warm up first, especially in winter.
Amazing video. Thank you for sharing this. I have a 79 I am restoring and this has inspired me to get back on it. You are right about the exhaust. That C4 exhaust sounds so good. Great looking car and a great video. Thanks brother!
Man you make my day! I'm super happy you liked the video and overjoyed it ignited your desire to get back to fixing yours Never give up brother, let us know when you finish that beauty 💪🏻
Dinos deserve more love and credit than the MAYORITY of the rest of Ferraris.
I agree on the fact that deserves more credit! It's an awesome car to drive, one of the most funny ones i've ever driven
Have you driven a 944 Turbo S 250 hp!? How do you compare them!?
I hope to drive one in the future due the fact is one of my favorite cars! I never compare the two, why did you think that?
Sorry mate, absolutely nobody says the 2.8 is the best engine. The 3.0 is way better...
Agree to disagree buddy 🤙🏻
You are the main reason why the AMG 55slk will no longer be referred to as the "hair dressers car" only hairy with tattoos 😂
It would be an honor to even be considered, when referring to SLK 55 😁 Thanks for the message buddy 🤙🏻
@@TheWastedDriver on day you in your black and me in my silver
Nice video and nice hair.
I'm happy you liked both 🤙🏻
I love mine NZ new, not new to me btw, so quite a different spec from yours and RHD. Still that engine really purrs, a true classic in my opinion. I think often over looked compared to a BMW Z4, both great cars. I have a Z4M too, and I find them both rewarding . One is a high revving all out manual experience, while the 55 is a torque monster, on a long cruise I would choose the 55 all day, I just wish that these cars had been adorned with better interiors. Thanks for sharing you experience with you car, so many cheap SLK's, but the 55 is the one to get if you can. Great video btw, thanks.
Thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻 I tested also a Z4 (the 2.8) and i agree with you, on a long cruise i will choose hands down the 55 It's a pleasure to drive!
I've had mine for eleven years. I still take it out at 3am in the summer, just to experience the top-down drive with minimal traffic.Great to observe meteor showers! Daily driver, don't care about the 13mpg... Cheers from London.
I'm sure you will keep it for eleven more! It's an awesome machine and i'm sure that driving it under the London sky, it's an unique experience
@@TheWastedDriver Actually, over the eleven years as a daily driver (and not garaged) it has gone from The Ratmobile to the Tatmobile. Part of me appreciates the fact that I don't have to worry about it much - I park it anywhere that's convenient and don't fret about supermarket trolleys and 'door dings'. However, I have been considering a change and a major contender has been a V8 Jaguar F-Type, but the boot space on those is ridiculous and they are substantially bigger cars externally, which is not best suited to London on a daily basis. So, I'm currently keeping my eyes open for another 171/55, with fewer miles and generally more tidy. My dream would be to find a Kleemann S8, but even a good example with headers and a re-map would grab my attention... I enjoyed your vid, by the way. I don't often get to hear the sound as a spectator outside of the car! Cheers!

@@sykotradingclosecorp You ask a very good question and it's a subject that crossed my mind when I decided to buy my 55, because I had quite a shock (many years ago now) when I bought my heart's desire Porsche 928S4. My solution was to 'ring-fence' a few thousand pounds to cover any unexpected disasters during early ownership. The good news is that my caution was not needed! Rule number one - as far as possible stay away from Mercedes main-dealers. This is true for spare parts and servicing. Find yourself a good independent specialist for things you either can't, or don't want to do yourself. However, with few exceptions, never fit non-OEM parts. I'm not sure in which country you reside, but most OEM service items can be sourced from parts specialists either in-store or mail-order. I tend to buy service items when they are on sale - such as engine oil, filters etc and keep a running inventory. For instance, I think the last OEM air filters I bought cost me £9 for the set.. MB approved 229.5 oil can always be found discounted somewhere and these engines tend to use a bit of oil as time and miles increase. It's pretty much all via worn valve seals and doesn't affect performance or emissions results. The oil is consumed mainly at wide throttle openings, so tell yourself that it's just a bit of upper cylinder lubrication, and probably a good thing. The M113 engine series have a reputation for being very robust. However, early 722.9 transmissions tend to develop a fault on the conductor plate at some point or other - but again, don't seek help from MB. Usually the fault can be repaired and the cost isn't bad when combined with a routine transmission service. Tyres don't last long if you drive it like it like it should be driven and I quickly found that it's not worth paying for high-end branded tyres, unless you just want bragging rights. On dry roads middle-shelf tyres are fine and on wet roads I slow down.. When you look to buy one of these, I highly recommend you find one which is used regularly. On the various fora that I check, it seems that quite a few problems stem from lack of regular use - especially when it comes to the vario roof. Dried seals are the bane of just about any mechanical system. The roof should cycle in either direction, smoothly, in 21 seconds. If it doesn't - be suspicious. Uneven tyre wear (especially front inner edges) tends to indicate worn suspension bushings. Not hugely expensive, but the sort of thing to look for in service records. So in summary, my 'sinking fund' for disasters was not needed at all. After a couple of years I did what I considered to be the most sensible thing with it - I used it to buy (more) shares in oil companies. The dividends offset that aforementioned average 13mpg 😄 Good luck with your search!

Beautiful car. I have a metallic blue '76. Super comfortable and fun to drive. This one has heavily modified suspension. They are not nearly that soft of suspension unless you replace the shocks AND springs. Also, get a Borgeson steering gearbox - much more responsive steering. These cars can be made to be fast and responsive with a little work.
Thanks for the information and as you said, with some change this car can be hands down better. (Even if already like that it's awesome)
We got the same 1.0TGDI engine in one of our normal non-Nline i20s. It’s called the i20 Fluid and was the top of the range i20, just below the N-Line. Think of it as the N-Line without the bodykit. To tell the difference between the Fluid and a normal base model i20, you will see “Turbo” enscripted on the grill and 1.0T badging on the rear, as well as R15 alloy wheels, it also came with the same 7-speed DCT transmission as the N-Line compared to the Auto-manual on the other i20s. It was recently discontinued for what I can only assume being in an unnecessary market. New, they didn’t cost much less than the N-Line so I assume Hyundai SA thought that, if people had money to buy the i20 Fluid, they could afford the N-Line as well.
Effectively if they are so similar, it makes sense to go for the N-Line (if the price is not excessively different)
❤
I got the 2023 Hyundai i20 1.0T GDI fluid model, its very nice. Have everything the N line has except the Nline badges, electronic climate control and the automatic gearbox. Other than that its the same. I have the 6 speed manual in white with the black roof. Love it!
Oh, also don't have traction control....
It's a nice little car, great purchase buddy 🤙🏻

@@sykotradingclosecorp My advice if you intend to buy one of these wonderful cars is: 1. Buy the best you can afford. 2. If it is an R171 model check the condition of the rear subframe. 3. Check the air con works, a new condenser is very expensive and awkward to fit as it is behind the bumper. 4. Check for corrosion around the wheel arches as pre 2010 Mercedes corrosion protection wasn’t great. Generally they are bullet proof good gearboxes and engines. If the car has the big brakes (6 piston callipers) beware of huge replacement costs for discs and pads. If work then deduct from the asking price. Good luck getting one for yourself. They are tremendous fun.
These cars are insanely undervalued given their rarity. Just 840 examples were made.
Undervalued only because is not powerful as the others, but the value can be the double only for the driving experience that you can have with it
I got this car a few months ago in blue, I love it so much! Both the interior and exterior look so amazing, so comfortable and so much power for just a 1L engine 🤣

350hp no touch aero, 1100kg. it can be wrc future.
We will see in 2026 what they decide, but surely they have to do something big at this point
It is also very short geared in second and third so it feels actually more powerful than it is. The 2.8 and 3.0 engines are bulletproof. I have my 1999 2.8 with factory M Package since 2005. No issues at all.

The more time goes by the better the gt4 is looking and I find the front of the 208GT4 much .more striking than an the 308 GT4's
For urban driving I think the normally aspirated 208 is better than a 208 turbo as I think it is quicker, the 208 turbo suffering from turbo lag
