A hard rubber or plastic mallet tapped counter clockwise on one of the clutch tangs (put the screw in) will almost always release the clutch. No need for expensive custom tools. It's also advised to put a light coat of transmission fluid on the engine shaft after polishing and before re-installing the ratchet clutch. There should also be a small felt pad inside the ratchet clutch at the end of the shaft. This pad should be oiled (ATF or light machine oil) . There is a small hole on the seal at the end of the ratchet clutch which allows you to add oil without disassembly.

I had the exact same tractor except I had the yellow deck, I got it on Market place for $50 the only reason I bought it was because the deck,body and rims were in excellent shape paint was so clean it also had a new battery and no rust anywhere, it did run but not very good. So I started in on it first thing was the motor the thing sit in a shed for almost 15 years I open it and of course there were allot on mouse nest but surprisingly no wire damage I will just list the parts I replaced. Stator (Not Charging), regulator, coil, plug, Starter and starter coil, starter switch, carburetor, brake pads, pto switch , 4 tires and tubes, blades. after all this and some cleaning the thing ran better than my new S160. All in all I had around $300 in it sold it on market place for $600 and had fun fixing it up.

Look at resistors # R143 and R144, they are likely burned out. Replace with new 3.3k .5w It's a very common problem on the Basslink's amp.

Oh boy ive been trying to get spark for 3 days, I have a new coil, condensor and points coming in the mail soon and I also have been using a drill to test for spark. I might be in the same boat lol I hope so at least thats an easy fix hahah

Geos don't use gaskets on the oil pan they used red rtv from the factory and a generous amount of it. That's why it's leaking on you throw the gasket out and problem solved

I just bought a 1991 automatic metro convertible today and on the way home my radiator started leaking. The guy told me the temp sensor is bad because it keeps showing it's overheating and as soon as you step off the gas the needle moves to the middle. Is it possible it was actually overheating i drove it over an hour like that? No steam coming from engine. It still had a lot of coolant.

I had a bad experience putting those bolts holding the coil on with my impact wrench and broke one of the uprights off. Had to GIVE the guy another motor. Just saying.

I watched another video that showed the front pulley was the cause of this symptom also, the belt had worn a groove out of the pulley keeping it from grabbing and stopped the belt from moving fast enough to pull the mower.

These are great old gens but put a manual fuel cut off valve and drain tank if not using regular and run carb dry , put hour and tack meter on it for best results

I have the same generator in tool box of my 1980 Chevy service truck and have not looked at it since I quit using it but did drain tank and carb Was nothing wrong with truck or generator just didn’t need it so I parked it on cement blocks 😊

Never trust the fuel from the Previous owner. Thx for the tip/reminder about these carbs disassembly and the needles and emulsion tube. Removal b4 the needle float assembly, it's been awhile for me too on this design carb. I acquired a 4400 homie recently and haven't gotten to it yet.

It's not up to speed for 60hz output

Those carburators have issues with vibration. I had one with the float seemed to be stuck open, and I reset it multiple times and no luck. 11.5 on a roper 1132 snow blower. Would run great, til you caught something frozen in the driveway. Then it stumbled all over the place til you stopped moving and then it would return to normal. The carb kits didn't fix the issue either. The float just doesn't hold the needle shut under movement, and it would just flood out, til you stopped moving, and then it ran beautiful,,, til the next time.
