The took over his custody and at that ooint the need to protect him and lock him up but no reason to beat him then lie about it. Thank god we have cameras today.

First this is IGNORANT at best.... At this point You can get a quality camera system for around 200 300 bucks with NO fees and Motion detection AND They are Wireless and have a 1 year rechargeable battery... They have INFINATE ways to mount with NO damage or holes to speak of. They have 2 way Communication... EUFY is the brand I like and have had great luck with mine for the last 3 4 years. NO monthly fees. This 300 bucks would have saved his LIFE. He could have looked on the door camera in 2 seconds and communicated or Realized its a police officer. Flinging the door open with a handgun is NOT a smart idea. Did he deserve to be shot. Thats a tough call.. Depends on why the police were called... IF they knew you were acting crazy with a gun and they show up and there you are... YEAH this is 100% a lawful shooting. But if this is the wrong house and you are banging like that MOST folks would have a gun... AGAIN a to me INEXPENSIVE super easy camera system you set up with your phone in 10 minutes is THE BEST thing going... I could have not been home and talked to the officer.. NEVER open the door for police unless you have to. They will require a warrant to get into my home. There is NOTHING good about letting cops in your home. They are not there to help you... Unless this was the Wrong house this is a tough one. IF it is the wrong house this cop will go to jail for life.
