I had a slightly irritating experience with these crooks a couple of years back. I booked a 1 night stay here years ago before a cruise I had leaving out of Tampa the following day. I booked the room through Expedia not knowing anything about timeshares. Upon checking in I was told that for $20 all I had to do was take a survey in the morning and I would get free breakfast, my $20 back, PLUS an additional $80. This sounded pretty ridiculous so I went back and forth with the lady trying to figure out what the catch was. She assured me there was no catch. Fine, I’m tired and ready to check-in so I forked over the additional $20. Long story short there was no survey. The following morning when we went to get our free breakfast it turned out to be a timeshare pitch. We had an awkward breakfast with a saleswoman that was a bit frustrated that we spent our previous night in one of the “old buildings” as she put it. After touring the beautiful unit (that looked nothing like what we had) we went back to hear a sales pitch that was full of inconsistencies. I was getting pretty fed up because I had a cruise to catch and I was tired of listening to them trying to tell me why I needed a timeshare. By the time the 3rd guy came in to try to convince me I had already sent my family to the car. I think they got the picture after that. I did get my $100 gift card though so at least it wasn’t a total scam.

Can’t you use them for a 5 night 4 night? And then move on without getting the ridiculous timeshare nonsense?

So the first problem right here is that "what you get for 50k?" When I got my Timeshare with Westgate they tried to lock me in at 40k. I laughed and said no. They came back to me 3 times each offer way cheaper. Each time I said absolutely not. Finally, they came back to me with a 2 bedroom at the Orlando Palace for $5000 in total with a 750 dollar down payment. For the Maintenance fees I spend 50 bucks a month which covers my Bi-annual maintenance fees. I pay my maintenance fees upfront, so when they are due. I've already paid. I have already paid off the $5000. So I only pay 50 bucks a month. I book every other year for no cost. It's not that bad. If I use my time share only 2 times, the 5k I spent is about as much as I'd spend for a week in a hotel twice. Hotels are roughly 200-300 a night for a decent place. So, are time shares a scam, sure if you are willing enough to lock in at 50k, but when you lock in for life at 5K it's not a bad deal. Say no, try again Then say no, try again. Be persistent, you can get a good deal. You have to be willing to work them down. Now, I can't imagine getting locked in for anything higher than what I paid. That would be insane.

I bought here sight unseen in 2015 for $1.25 on eBay. The one I bought was a bi-annual, and the first time we went we loved it so much that eventually I bought three more bi-annual weeks, all on eBay for between $1-$2 each. This place feels completely like home. Watching you walk through it felt like you were walking through my living room! Love this place and love that I get to go every year. We usually go once a year and sell the other, and I have probably an eight year waiting list of people who want to use it.

We got pulled into the timeshare scam pitch in Vegas ! It lasted almost 5 hours we basically were held hostage it was ridiculous thank God we didn’t buy anything

I used to live right on the hillside. Like Koko head was my backyard. I only made it up to the top once though.

Wife and I had a great time on the ship. It was our first time. Staff and food was great. And went home with $1,000 profit. I would recommend trying it out.

Is it worth doing this "preview" in order to get night rate of $135 instead of $330 for a trip to catch a cruise? Obviously not buying the timeshare, but I know these can be very boring and very high pressure.

Dunno how Shark's Cove got it's name but, being born/raised in the immediate area, was told that Shark's Cove was so named coz of rocks on both side of Cove is Sharp, like shark's teeth. Growing up, have been unlucky enough to have been knocked down & tossed around like rag doll over said rocks. The experience imprints on your psyche, & your body, reminding you that you are not invincible/indestructible! Over time, scars have faded from your body, not so easily from your memory! ....Recntly, there have been numerous reports of visitors scrambling over rocks, getting knocked down &, in extreme cases, requiring trips to ER for abrasions/contusions. During summer, Shark's Cove is placid/tranquil. Completely opposite during winter surf.....

I own here.. Bought back in 2018 and we go often- typically one full week and a few long weekend trips each year! My husband and I live in Fort Myers which is situated about a 2.5 hour drive south of vvap.. We love it 😍 But I should point out that we bought ours off eBay ( resale) for $1.25.. we have the 2 bedroom lock-out ( which is both sides of the unit a&c) we get 92,500 rci points for which we can use to go pretty much anywhere we desire …although primarily we have only stayed here as it’s our home resort, and once we stayed in a house at summer bay. As far as the financials go .. we pay around 1100 for maintenance and taxes.. rci membership is around another 100 per year and the fee to book varies depending upon length of stay but for an entire week (both sides )it’s 239. I believe 4 nights both sides is 169 and so on and so forth.. so long as we don’t book the week we own we will have plenty of points leftover to book additional vacations that year.. I noticed that if you book 30 days out many times they have units available starting at only 7000 points per week! I also like that no matter what time of year they always have rooms available. I should note also that the unit we purchased also comes with a free week per year that can be used here or at other sister properties. Overall the experience has been great but that doesn’t mean that it is for everyone. It’s a lifelong commitment as you’ve mentioned and in no way is it an investment! We live nearby and have kids and we’re able to afford to take time off work to enjoy it. All things to consider before buying. I figure we save around anywhere from 1000-2400 per year vacationing this way and we don’t ever run out of points meaning that if planned correctly we could easily get more weeks and save even more. Again unless you can find the time to do it tho you’re not actually saving anything. But nonetheless we’re very satisfied with our decision!❤

We stayed at a VV in Williamsburg VA, Colonies at Williamsburg. This is a lovely property. We stayed there in 2019. A warning! Please do not get snagged by the Concierge. She or he will offer you tickets to Old Williamsburg for just 90 minutes of your time. We fell for it. We were lied to by our sales agent Jackie, convinced to buy and now we our out $45K, all of our savings. My husband is a 100% service connected Vietnam Vet. I have been contacting the CEO's of VV for months with no response. Enjoy the property but go through Airbnb or some other rental and do not buy!!
