      The tach sweep is only enabled on custom OS which I assume you have . It occurs if you get in the car, turn accessories on (don't start the car) and wait for the sweep. It then only occurs once on power up providing the engine is not running. Send us a support ticket if you get stuck!

      Working on it. The issue is it needs to be smooth and effective. Currently we have it working but it needs to work across a huge variety of power levels without a tuner spending hours tweaking gains. Eg It on NA we don't even need spark cut with a transbrake, it will hold 3500rpm at -5 deg timing. With a big PD blower though, different story.

      Loads of people do this and adjust it via the cruise control speedo buttons, though this needs multiple runs to dial in based on the surface (Lund offer this as a feature). Speed based is absolutely possible though and a fantastic idea. Get a big enough tuner to ask for it and we will do it. ROI needs it be about 30+ cars to break even. We could knock it out as a once off in a half a day, but the way our firmware works we do it for everything (even a Ford Transit van lol), Taurus, Mustang, F150 etc all in one go.

      So do we, we have power PC well supported in the Australian market but we do not have the resources to do this and the Tricore based US platform at the same time. We would need to get approx ~3000 credits a year extra to just break even on one more developer. That is a lot of cars. Take into account all the other business overheads and we can't justify it. There is also another issue, copy protection. the 11-14 doesn't have a serial number embedded into the ROM like the 15+. We could spend a year doing it and have it ripped, copied and distributed in a matter of a few days. It really sucks, as a developer I'd love to do this for you guys, but we can't see a way for it to make business sense at this stage. It hurts us to say that, but we want to grow as a company and right now it isn't the right move.

      Unless you are making 1000hp put the stock cams and VCT back and you can have chop city and a stock idle with single button press. Lund ran a high 6 with an OEM PCM and VCT on the intake. Locking cams is completely unnecessary and imo a lazy way to tune unless you are making such big power the stock actuation system is starting to fail.

    • @PCMTECTuning
      @PCMTECTuning 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just out of curiosity what is the main use case here? Do you have a sequential gearbox/dog box? Any reason the standard no lift shift doesn't do what you need? We have done a fuel cut no lift shift in the Turbo Falcon which would drop boost from ~20psi to about 18psi on a quick shift TR6060 with OEM syncros. I imagine with a sequential it would barely drop any boost at all. This is something we could add if there are enough customer requests for it. This would be extremely aggressive compared to a fuel cut, if you don't need it for staying on boost we would recommend a fuel cut. If it's for gimmicks and flames then we understand! ;)

    Why are the updates/second that slow? Is it because of the interface being used?

    • @PCMTECTuning
      @PCMTECTuning 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is frames per second on the playback. The actual raw data can be up to 100 samples per second. We purposely limited the screen FPS it in the early days for performance. It is 60/120FPS locked now depending on refresh rate and video card.

    • @josephbargo5024
      @josephbargo5024 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PCMTECTuningI was referring to the updates/second at the bottom of the logging screen. It was hovering around 30. That’s the screen recorder? However, even at 100 updates/second, that’s pretty slow for modern logging (unless you mean 100/second per pid). With basic USB connections 400-500 updates/second can be achieved. Sniffing a modern mustang HSCAN bus (no Tx/Rx), will achieve over 2000 updates/second.

    • @PCMTECTuning
      @PCMTECTuning 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@josephbargo5024 The polling rate via is limited by the PCM. You can log 16x7 byte high speed DMRs (you can pack say 2 floats and 1 byte into each slot for example). Each of these 16 channels are broadcast at roughly 5-20 updates a second if you request all 16 (depending if the user wants all floats, or what they are logging are are bytes etc), if you request a single float via broadcast and nothing else it caps out at about 100 updates a second on a single channel. This is the PCM rate limiting, not due to any external hardware (although there is obviously some overhead). Everything after these 16 slots has to be polled 1 by 1, eg, send a "TX: please send me address x", "RX: here you go" which as you can imagine is very slow due to the UDS frame over head etc. PCMTEC can sniff thousands of packets a second without issue (about 2k as you said yourself). The issue is asking it to send data we actually want. In the Falcon we opportunistically sniff some broadcast packets that are sent to other modules (eg rpm, eot, iat etc) which we get for "free" so we don't need to waste a channel for these. There is lots of optimisation you could do, however what we have now suits the purpose. We love optimisation problems, and we could write custom datalogging code that replaces the 16x7 slots if we wanted to and likely spit out data 100x faster than it currently does, but as far as making a successful business, this is not a good use of R&D time. Something you may find interesting is that MBT timing is only updated every 50ms, and limits (eg cyl pressure) every 100ms. So you can poll as often as you like, but the data doesn't change. Finally most tuners use handheld devices for datalogging anyway. You are the first person who seems interested in this, feel free to post on our forums if you want to geek out about this more.

    • @josephbargo5024

      Does pcmtec have any capabilities (or plan to) for custom CAN parameters? For example the UDS service is working with PIDs in the PCM, but I’m wondering about just sniffing raw CAN data and decoding it with a DBC definition file? That takes no Tx request, it just logs what it sniffs. Is this what you mean with falcon you can read broadcast data? Is that coming through the UDS protocol or is it decoded using something like a DBC file definition? If it’s the later, can stuff like brake pressure, steering wheel angle, wheel speed, tire pressure, etc be sniffed also? Btw I know it’s different car to car but this is for a 2020 mustang. All the data I mentioned above is passively available through tapping HSCAN1. I’ll be honest tuning is an afterthought to me (I just run e85 NA) but if your tuning suite also had extensive logging capabilities I’d switch from HP immediately. Thanks for answering my questions though!

    • @PCMTECTuning
      @PCMTECTuning 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@josephbargo5024 Yes we do that with the Falcon. The problem is most of the interesting things people want to log are scaled to low resolution, update rates are reduced and sometimes the data has adders etc and generally is far less useful than logging the actual DMR of interest. Our software shows the X and Y DMR for the majority of tables. You can then log exactly which value is going into the table instead of guessing. Eg there are about 50 different "load" values in the PCM. Which one should you log? If you want to make sure you are logging the right one you can simply look at the table in our software and add the exact ID to the datalogger. Our datalogging is far more extensive than HP. We have between 40 to 67,000 DMRs available for each operating system that you can log. No one else has anything remotely close to this. We also have map tracing, no more copy pasting axis etc. Check out our October 2022 Datalogging update video, it will show you the extensive new features. All the items you mentioned whilst we could passively sniff we have defined as DMRs you can log directly from the PCM. As we support over 800 operating systems, many of which are vehicles not available in Australia it is not feasible for us to generate broadcast based logging for all vehicles, though it is something we would love to do if we had the time and people would pay for it. Being a business we have to spend our resources where the majority of our customers are asking, and that is currently our Custom Operating system. If you have a raw DBC file, why not sniff the data yourself? There are many commercial datalogging solutions to do what you are talking about.

    Id never change between ethanol and petrol due to the fuel filter clogging up and pump filter... E85 cloggs up your oil lines to your turbo, and sticks like glue to the inside walls in your oil galleries. Ethanol is run 30-40% more to achieve the same hp as 98 and a lot of it is washed through the rings resulting in it mixing with your motor oil causing premature death to your conrod bearing and crankshaft bearing, poor oil flow to the head and camshafts due to making oil passage walls getting caked in glue and failure of oil pumps due to clogged oil filters. If your car can't achieve the extra 10% hp from from 98 and you have to use 40-200% of fuel just to run e85, your fuel, compression ratio, ring gap, intake or exhaust setup or spark or engine build was wrong to begin with.

      The only partIf you leave E85 sitting for extended periods of time and/or let it mix with your engine oil it will cause damage, it is never recommended to be used in a car that sits in humid/cold weather for extended periods of time for this reason. Other than this it is a fantastic cheap fuel for adding power due to the ability to cool the intake charge and the reduced flame speed allowing higher knock resistance. On a knock limited vehicle (due to high compression, high IAT and high boost levels) E85 can increase the power levels up to 50%. On an NA vehicle the gains are less however on the 12:1 compression Coyote motors we are talking an easy 20-30rwkw increase. Regarding fuel pumps and filters this was true 20 years ago, now everything is rated for E85 and there are filters that can be easily changed and cleaned. There have been 1000s of cars tuned with E85 or Ex blend mixes using our software without issue due to proper maintenance.

    If I have a steering wheel with cruise control buttons but my car doesn't actually have cruise control is multi tune still able to be done on an early model bf

      Yes absolutely, we use the raw input so even if cruise control does not function this can be used.

    Is live tuning possible? E.g. custom OS/firmware that allows R/W of data while car is running?

      In the Mustang you can do it using Forscan using IO control to test temporary changes.

    Can you drive with the ghost turn on or does it change back to normal ?

    • @PCMTECTuning

      The purpose of a ghost cam is it goes back to normal when driving as there is no benefit to performance. The standard VCT system automatically changes the cam timing for optimal performance at high rpm/load. A ghost cam turns this functionality on at idle as well to sound like an old fashioned locked cam. This way you get the same fuel economy as a factory car at cruise/low load, the maximum performance at high rpm and the cool sound at idle. Best of all worlds, also if you get sick of the sound you can just turn it off at any time with the engine running.
