Hope they release a director's cut remaster. It'll be extremely popular.

Right now near the end of 2024, it is so refreshing to hear people talk about wanting to tell Jane Austin’s story instead of their own story through the trimmings of Jane Austin

I still watch the whole series at least once a year.

It's great to see I'm not alone in loving everything about this. My favourite book and favourite version of it. Colin Firth is perfection as Mr Darcy. Enjoyed listening to the actors and hearing their background stories.

This is a lovely documentary. (At the expense of being terribly pedantic, I noticed that at least two of the cast described the overall length of the adaptation as six hours. Sue Birtwhistle, the producer, of course said quite accurately that it is three hundred minutes. The six episodes are all approximately fifty minutes long.) (Sorry, very picky.)

Yes, the story is charming. But what stands out about this production is the fabulous casting, and the characterization, every last performance is an absolute gem, of the actors. I watch P&P about once a week, and I'll never get tired of it.

According to the book,it is nearly line for line with exceptions to what could be filmed! So perfectly done❤

It's as though the two main actors don't want to be associated with the series that advanced their careers.

I watch the BBC version every time I want a lovely peaceful moment or two. Its my go-to for any time I need timeout. A glorious production. Unsurpassed, superbly acted. Will always stand the test of time.

I enjoyed hearing Lucy Brier's commentary! As she played Mary, who is quite one-dimensional and predictable, Lucy in contrast is very self-aware and makes intelligent observations about the story and filming process. (Also her story about being a bad piano player all along made me chuckle 😂) Wish Julia Sawalha could have been interviewed. I was very impressed by her acting in playing such a lively (and immature) character. Everyone's acting was top notch. Always love returning to this mini series and notice more details each time!

Alison Steadman Is a pleasant surprise. She Is so talented. . I also still watch this series after all thiis time.

Sheer utter perfection this adaptation. I’ll never watch another version. It can’t be beaten

My husband and I have seen this over and over so many times. We love it and re-visit it on a regular basis. Time to watch it again I think, we never tire of it.

Perfection

This is the definitive version of P&P that will never be surpassed. In every way they achieved perfection. Will become a classic like the book, I just wish that Jane Austen could have seen it!

This is a magnificent version, the definitive in my opinion. I have watched it many times, twice sitting with my hard-copy version of the novel (actually one of several copies) underlining the appropriate pieces of text. The script was wonderfully adapted, keeping the feel of Jane Austin. The casting was so perfect! BTW, I have it on DVD and an electronic version. I did have it on video tape, but I wore it out!

I have this on DVD and now of course you can find it streaming. I pretty much watch it at least once a year. It's my comfort viewing, and when I lost my mother in law and my father within weeks of each other, I watched pretty much every Jane Austen and Catherine Cookson adaptation I could find. This mini-series remains the best of the best. The actors were perfect. The script, the music, the locations. I don't think anything could have been improved upon.

My sisters and I enjoyed this production so much growing up that we used to just listen to the DVD while doing other things. The most memorable time was when our baby brother was in the hospital and we were taking turns staying with him and we put Pride and Prejudice in the room's DVD player to keep us feeling like everything was okay as we took shifts with him. It truly is one of the best book adaptations out there, cast and film. I'm looking forward to my five girls getting big enough to enjoy it with me!

I love the novel and this adaptation of it is perfect. It brings every character, scene and the story itself to life just the way Jane Austen wrote it. I love it and never tire of watching it.

I'm echoing all the other comments here. This is the best production of P & P. I'm 75 now, and I still watch it often. Kudos to everyone involved!

This series introduced me to Jane Austen. Emma in 2009 with Jonny and Romola was also a brilliant adaptation of Jane's work. I still can't choose which adaptation is my favourite!

Back in the fifties there was a musical on Broadway based on Pride and Prejudice called First Impressions. Hermione Gingold played he mother. Polly Bergen was Elizabeth. Farley Granger was Darcy.

Great Stan it is behind the scenes of the BBC adaptation ad is kinda like a long documentary yet I applaud theBBC for this serialised adaptation of this famous and well loved Romantic novel of Jane Austin they pulled no punches when it came to authenticity of the trueness of the original story and did it well as Colin Firth became an international star after his portray of the shy and mistakenly proud Mr Darcy a somewhat steamy Mr Darcy that no one has portrayed before then even with Lawrence Olivier they didn’t get that really authentic romantic setting that Colin portrays so well and if anyone played the part since they are put in the shade by Colin’s version. Jennifer played Elizabeth well but she has been out acted by Keira Knightly with this part in the film adaptation and Jenny did do it very well despite Keira’s good credits in the portrayal. Matthew however had a lot to live up to with Colin Firth and after a number of viewings of his part I surely did get it a lovely romantic portrayal indeed whereas Colin had the only part in the BBC’s adaptation of going away from the original writings of Jane Austin with the steamy scene of the dive into the lake

Peerless adaptation and a great cast. May I put in a little word for Polly Maberly who plays Kitty? Not in the very front-line of characters, but nevertheless quite prominent. I thought she took the part extremely well. She is pretty in her own right, and has a most naturally beautiful speaking voice.

It is without a doubt the most accurate and beautiful adaptation of PRIDE and PREJUDICE ever produced!!!!! All the actors and actresses were BRILLIANTLY cast in this 1995 adaptation!!!!!! Wish they would have a reunion with Colin Firth, Jennifer Ehle and the rest of the cast in attendance!!!!!👍💋💋💋💋💋💋😃🥰😍
