I use a lot of electric chicken colors in this area. Confidence baits are the best bet. Paddletails, popping corks, and MirroLure Heavy Dines are my go to baits. I launch from Museum Park, great kayak launch. Keep the bug spray close at all times. If I can figure it out I will upload a pic of my favorite spots for you to try. Wish you all the best in your proposal and tight lines when you come visit. Hope to see you out there and photos of your fish.

Was definitely a fun day.

My poles have 15lb braid with 15lb mono leader tied with a FG knot. You could definitely use 10lb braid, I also use my setups offshore for other fish. A popping cork with about 1.5-2’ of leader underneath tied to an electric chicken Paddletail works really good in Cedar Key area. Hope this helps and gets you some tight lines. Good luck..

Those fish, possible shark, were big and powerful. Should of just let it run and see if I could of got it to the surface.

@@sailorrobsfishingadventure694 back when I grew up in Louisiana we use to be able to keep 25 per person, 5 reds (1 over 27”). Not sure if it’s still that way. Love to run a split tail solid white/red dot under a popping corks middle of winter. Fun times.

5 specs total per person and one over slot, 1 red per person. Don’t know about Louisiana but I see a lot of big fish caught there. On my bucket list of places to go fishing.

@@sailorrobsfishingadventure694 If you ever need a plan, I can suggest several places accessible by kayak. Bait shops, boat docks, and French words that need interpretation. Haha. There are hundreds of marshes that hold slot reds and speck’s.
