The 21st June 2021 summer solstice,showing the sun setting on Mount Mary overlooking Aughrim bog in Aghrane forest.

Woodlawn house was owned by the Trench family and stood on 11,000 acres of land.This colossal structure is very imposing when you first see it even from a distance.It also has a man made lake and several out buildings.Benjamin Franklin stayed here for a week in the late 1700s,And the makers of the Hollywood film Blair Witch had checked it out for their movie.

Located close to Castlecoote and Donamon villages.A beautifull small lake with entrance road through a forest.There’s seating along the front of lake and fine large pier to fish off.Parking and boat launch area also.Keep clean,and fishing permit required to fish here.

A beautiful stretch of the river leading to the little village of Mount Talbot,the ruinous Mount Talbot house and also thornfield house out buildings and walls can be seen close to it’s banks (No Entry to these on private land).Respect area and keep clean

Aghrane forest is the former estate of the O’Kellys where Castle Kelly was built 1260 (now ruins) .It is now a Coillte Forest.There are many walkways here,and you can see the Grand bridge built in the 1850s and the large green area is just over the bridge where the castle looked over it.There is a very large orchard wall and some buildings left.It also contains a very large raised bog called Aughrim bog it a natural heritage area.This is a beautiful forest that is very large and has great potential.Lots of wildlife here like woodpeckers,jay birds,hawks,buzzards,red squirrels and deers.PLEASE KEEP CLEAN and Respect the Area

Excellent area for fishing containing I think 31 decked fishing piers along the river with parking at each pier.Theres a toilet facility but is locked probably because of covid.Theres a boat launch at the end of the roadway also,great peaceful area.Please keep area clean and also requires fishing permits.

Great Lake for specimen Tench and Pike ,can be fished from small pier or from off island (Crannóg) that has a timber walkway on to it.There is a little roadway to the island that you can drive down and park ,this is also where you can launch your boat.The pier is quiet small and could do with being made bigger or adding another one somewhere else on the lake.PLEASE KEEP CLEAN and also FISHING PERMIT required to fish here.

Great view of the two crannogs here, perch, pike, tench etc for the angler, great video.
