I share poorly drawn examples of the lithology patterns typically encountered in the stratigraphic columns and cross-sections used in our lab course.

Fault Types and Forces
Brief intro to tensional, compressional and shear forces. I also describe normal, reverse and thrust faults with reference to the positioning and movement of the hanging wall versus the foot wall.
Principles of Stratigraphy
How to identify which layers are relatively older or younger using principles of stratigraphy.
Geologic Timescale
I introduce the purpose, components and basis of the geologic time scale to give relevance to the dates referred to in our geologic maps lab.
Hanging Wall vs Foot Wall
Identifying and naming the blocks on either side of a fault
Brittle Vs Ductile Deformation
The difference in how force/stress/pressure deforms rocks/rock layers depending on temperature.
Unconformitites
Overview of unconformity types, and how to recognize the three varieties of unconformity.
Relative Dating Application
Approach to determining relative ages of strata by applying the principles of stratigraphy.
Geologic Maps
A brief overview of how to interpret a geologic map. I also cover the utility of such a map and what types of information can be found using a geologic map.
Contour Lines
A very brief description of contour lines to complement the handouts and slides on maps.
Coordinates Basics
Introduction to latitude and longitude, the coordinate system used on maps.
Metamorphic Rocks
How metamorphic rocks form and what foliated means vs non foliated
Intro to Sedimentary Rocks
Descring what a sedimentary rock is and introducing the sub categories
Siliclastic Sedimentary Rocks
Describing the appearance and texture of some more common siliclastic sedimentary rocks.

thank you it finally clicked
THANK YOU!!!
India seen watching 😊
thank you!!!
thank you so much
Why will the hanging block go down during tension force, why will not there a gap or rift get formed?, there is asthenosphere beneath the crust so how can block go downside??
Gracias!
had an assignment due in 10 min thanks you helped so much
Can you do a video on the various types of hydrothermal mineralization? Maybe give some insights on hydrothermal induced breccia? Love your videos!
Thank you ma'am
Thank you.
big thanks boss
She is so clearly spoken and articulate, too bad she stopped making videos. At least she left us all the basics before she split like Dr. Jonathan Haas of the channel Earth.Parts did.
Maybe I'll make more eventually. I've been thinking about doing some for the dinosaurs course I teach.
Thank you that was informational. I can apply this same info to metal elements?
This is why I refuse to "rent" Office 365. First, you shouldn't have to "rent" software on a yearly basis. Secondly, the fact that Microsoft arbitrarily rearranged its interface in this nonsensical way convinces me not to get it. Why should I pay a yearly rental fee for the privilege of being tortured by idiotic software designers who can't design for the people using their products?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I have a unit test today and I didn’t get it until now🙏
Very nice ❤
Very helpful, thank you. Question: if the fault further separates can the hanging wall become the foot wall?
The terms hanging wall versus foot wall pertain to their position relative to the fault. Whether we are considering a normal, reverse, or thrust fault, the hanging wall will be above the fault while the footwall is below it.
Understood, thank you.@@carlygeology
Verry pretty also verry smart❤
Thank you ma'am.I find this only in your video.
Thank you so much!! I've been searching through videos for ages, and this is the only one that used 365.
Simple to understand thanks a lot ❤
This just prevented me from commuting 1h to ask my prof about this thanks
thanks for sharing this with us Carly, much apricated!! not only did i lean something you beauty captivating!! gla do have came along your channel
Your content is so so good Carly. Thanks.
THANK YOU!! 😅 the ramp analogy was PERFECT for my understanding.
perfect explaination. Also you look so astonishing🤩😘
Thank you very much
You made it easy...thank you
gracias por el video! , fue muy util! , thanks for the video!!
She explained better than my sedimentary course Teacher✨
Omg you made this seem so simple. I need to send my professor this video
Thank you so much
HI, I found your videos on TH-cam and just love them. I am trying to find that book you mention in the video, but can't find it on Amazon, or even with a google search; do you know were one can purchase it? Thanks, Rebecca &:)
You are a saver ♥
Idk why but I’m learning more from your videos than most, probably from the examples you show.. Thank you!!
Granted is made up of Korts crystal
Happy 23
I would like to share with you a whole other group as big as silicates but rather with carbon due to the unique conditions with the Chicxulub meteorite. Impact diamonds and even petrified cactus turned to diamond. And I have a special one for you if you not spoken for alrwady
Do you recommend distilled water for consumption?
Saved an Hour. Thanks
THank you soooo much !!! .. I could not find any of the tools-- until you showed us how to click on Chart designs..SMH. I subscribed to your chanel.. Thank you ever soo much for showing us .. Have a nice day :)
Microsoft has completely gone up its own ass. It couldn't care less if its customers can use its products; it only wants to squeeze the customers by forcing them to rent their software which they design nonsensically like this.
Great demo! Will use in class. Students always have issues with this. Thanks!
Simple and good demo! Will use it in my class. Thanks for posting!
500th subscriber.. ... 🙂❤️
Would you be able to share your Mineral Identification Flow chart and that simplified mineral chart by Neil E Fahy. I cant find it online
You look nice
Great Channel, Thank you so much. I never studied minerals like this, its my first time and I really enjoyed it.
