My gosh i thought it was only me that likes a more robust camera body... I am thinking about printing A2 size but given that the bigger the picture the further you stand back this camera should be fine.. I had for a moment looked at mirrorless cameras but had come to the conclusion that for $ i am better off to stick with this compact sensor... Thank you great video very helpful... I hope to upgrade from my 600d at the end of the year and looking forward to trying c raw... Would be interested to know what you upgraded from 🐶
Hi, thanks for your feedback. I went from a 600D after slipping at a waterfall and dislodging the optical viewfinder finder. Best slip I ever had 🤣
@@AndyHPhotography you found the good within the bad.. Thats great 👍
when he said the is softness starting to creep in when it was really closed down is he referring to aperture of does he mean shooting at 18 mm its soft
I find it when opening up the aperture
Hi Andy, I just stumbled on to your channel and very much enjoyed / learned techniques. I'm shooting APS-C with 24mm prime (i'm considering the 50mm as I learn more). That said, how do you determine Exposure / Shutter Speed? ex. 1/800 or should I just adjust F-stops and ISO speed? - Pete,FL
Hi Pete, I tend to use manual for landscape and manual with auto iso for wildlife. I use evaluative metering in the camera. I hope this helps and sorry shoot the delay but I’m on safari at the moment with limited WiFi and hoping to get some God videos with I get back 🤞
@@AndyHPhotography it def helps thank you! I haven’t seen any videos that go into details per application. Happy shooting (no pun intended;) looking forward to seeing your safari shots 🤙

I have been looking forward to this trip for so long and hope this video helps you understand what I'll be taking for wildlife photography on safari. Do you think I'm missing anything? I'll be creating videos on my return to share with you on TH-cam👍
I bought this but sent it back immediately. Cheap materials. Stupid ball head and it doesn't even let me attach my osmo pocket 3! The leg came out and some plastic thing attached to it inside came off. They did a massive marketing campaign for this tripod, sending it to loads of youtubers but ultimately, its not very good.
I ended up getting the benro tortoise and am so happy with that. It’s leagues above this tripod and so was a purchase I wish I’d not made (it wasn’t a freebie for me)
@@AndyHPhotography should be better, it's three times the price!
@@wiltswonder it is but even on the k&f I wouldn’t expect the leg sections to come apart at its price point 🤷♂️
Very nice video.
Many thanks for your feedback
Great video, i was thinking about buying a used rebel t7 ( I have a very low budget), but I don’t know wether to buy a nifty fifty like yours or a 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 for landscape and nature photography.
Everything I read and hear says the nifty fifty is the best starter lens, but I prefer the higher aperture photos you showed over the f/1.8
@_syzz thank you for your feedback. Which lens to get us a tough call. Do you already have a lens such as the 18-135 with your T7? If so, I’d suggest the 10-18 first
The nifty fifty is a fantastic starter lens. I wouldn’t suggest starting purely with the 10-18, rather the 18-135 which would give you an amazing range for landscape and nature photography
@@AndyHPhotography thank you
I have to disagree about the weight comment. It really does make a difference and you can get small, light mirrorless that perform as good as the 90d which if you don’t use long zooms then lens weight and size isn’t an issue. That’s exactly where mirrorless shines in my opinion. A 90d is not the ideal street photography camera
@@traceybartlam7737 that’s a good point Tracey. I now have a R7 and do notice the weight difference when using smaller lenses like the 50mm although the weight difference when using telephoto lenses is negligible. So for street photography I agree with your point about the weight and also the more compact nature makes mirrorless easier to use in those scenarios 👍
@@AndyHPhotographyas I still own a Fuji x-t30 which I would keep for street but I am still tempted back by the 90d as it’s such a great camera and feels so good to use and hold. I love the ergonomics
@traceybartlam7737 it is a great design and is so natural to hold. How does it compare to the Fuji?
@@AndyHPhotography I no longer have one! The situation was that I got a used x-t30 as a street/walk around and loved it so much I traded my Canon gear for an x-t4. Brilliant camera and I actually improved as a photographer using it however I miss the ergonomics of Canon. I picked up my daughter’s 90d and it just feels so good! I also really liked the colours on the photos I took. I’m very tempted to go back to one as found a used one with only approx 1000 shutter count but really having a dilemma about going back from mirrorless as I’ve got used to seeing a live exposure. I know the 90d has live view via the screen but as a glasses wearer I use the viewfinder much, much more. The general consensus is I should go for the R7 but so conflicted due to rf mount and lack of affordable lenses. (I know I could buy a converter but unsure of which work well with the r7). I have been given an old film canon and a 60mm macro (has a tiny bit of lens fungus which camera store believe is really not a major issue) so my other alternative is to buy an old canon dslr and use that on occasion 🤷♀️ I’m going round in circles to be honest!
@@traceybartlam7737 i now have the R7 after my 90D fell into the stream and do love it. I think for landscape photography there’s not much in it but the R7 I find much better for wildlife. I have the Canon rf ef converter and all of my ef lenses work really well on it. If you have any questions on the R7 please feel free to ask away
I used both just like you and I agree that telephoto gives you much more freedom in composition. I also liked your video on 50 mm 1.8 as I'm thinking of buying it soon. Is it true that at F 5.6 it has 10 times more light than kit lens at same aperture?
@@petarjurakic1818 thanks for your feedback. I’m finding I’m using my telephoto a lot more than my macro lens (check out my nature reserve video if you get a chance as that was completely done with the telephoto). I’m not sure exactly the amount of extra light but it is around 10 stops on the shutter speed. One thing to be aware of is how narrow the depth of field can be
@@AndyHPhotography I just bought the 50 yesterday. It blew my mind! I can't believe how much light it has, it'beautiful :) still getting used to moving around for better composition but generally I love it :)
@@petarjurakic1818 great purchase. I love mine too as it really makes me think about the compositions with is great on location
please remove the music so we understand what you are saying. Thank you.
This was one of the very first videos I made which was a learning curve for me. Since then the music has been much quieter and hopefully better mixed🤞
Looking at your first image the colours are fantastic as are the detail. I don't think you will regret getting the R7 at all. It is giving me food for thought, as I am looking to move from my 77D to mirrorless next year. Initially was looking at the R10 but realised that it's not much different from the 77D except the mirrorless aspect. Not enough to make a huge difference. I do seascapes and travel photography so like you always looking for the Dynamic range of a camera. This looks good will be looking at your comparison videos in the near future.
Many thanks for your kind feedback. I am loving to R7 and it’s really given my photography a boost for wildlife with the subject tracking and burst mode. Do let me know how you get on or if you have any questions feel free to ask away
I have one it’s problem is the mount as you cannot use it to attach a L bracket so straight away it’s a no starter for me If you want to use an L bracket you have to buy a different head so you may may as well buy a different tripod in my opinion. I do agree they are very light very portable and the fact that you can use it for macro photography is of great benefit however that head is just a none starter for me
That's true Paul but they are releasing a Swiss Arca Mount in a couple of weeks which I just missed out on 🤦
At this price point, the Manfrotto Befree Advanced is amazing value for money, and with the imminent release of the Swiss Arca mount version, it provides even greater flexibility as a travel tripod for your landscape photography. (Please note I learnt of the Swiss Arca version just a week after filming this in August 2024)🤦♂ ❓Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions or comments on this Tripod.
Nice video Andy. What great photos from the oyster catchers you made them really stand out from the background. My favorite from the arch is the one from 30 second, but there are also others that I like.
@@JorisVanDeuneghem many thanks Joris. I really enjoyed the oystercatchers in the rain but not sure the severity of the rain came through in the images
@@AndyHPhotographywe could see some rain in the photos, but it didn’t really look that bad 😅 I saw it in the video you where getting soaked 😄
The weather forecast was good so I didn’t have a coat 🤣🤣I should have guessed rain as it was Wales
I have a canon eos r50 do I need to worry about hurting my camera while taking sunset photos? if so then what precautions should I take to be able to capture sunset photos like you?
I shoot directly into the sun all of the time without any issues (I’m assuming you mean potential damage to the sensor). I’ve seen videos where they talk about it but it’s not something I’ve experienced on any camera I’ve owned. I would suggest turning off your camera out put your lens cap on when you’re not shooting though to be on the safe side 👍
I was thinking in the same price range that i could get the ef-s 10-18mm and also the 55-250mm or should i just buy the 18-135mm? Sorry for bad English
I also have the 10-18. I think turn 18-135 would get best and if you could push it then get the 10-18. The gap between 18-55 is a very user take that you don’t want to miss out on
@@AndyHPhotography and what about the 55-250mm?
@@imdavid9582 I’ve never used that lens so can’t really comment on its quality, only its range. I think if you went with the 10-18 and 55-210 ranges you would possibly miss the 18-55 range a lot as that is a sweet spot range for a lot of photography
@@AndyHPhotography thank you sir
