I literally just got my oboe, it's still in the plastic and all, and I am super excited to get home!!!!!
do you have any tips about make my ambrouse looser because i think mine is too tight to get a sound
Unfortunately wrong. Your chin has to be rimpel free completely. That’s key for the oboe embouchure.
Could you please let me know where I can get the tube cleaning paper, please?
Thank you.
4:17 So the embouchure is as if you're Whistling. That High C is the same High C that you might have heard Gonzo play on his Trumpet in the Muppet Show.
I have a Single Reed Oboe Mouthpiece so that it's easier for me to blow. Some Oboes have an Extra Key that allows you to play one more note lower than Bb down to Low A, & I wanted to extend the range down further 4 more notes to Low F.
Why am I here I play Bb clarinet
If anyone is concerned you should start with a medium-soft reed because they are very easy to break
I’m learning oboe for an upcoming concert and this really helped! I can’t get my oboe to not go high when I’m supposed to be playing low though. Do you have any tips for that? I think my embouchure is right and my oboe is put together properly, but I’m not 100% since I’m originally a clarinet player.
For me it was I was at a higher level for the reed since I play other wind instruments. Try a higher grade reed.
this helps a lot for my fifth grade band
can you subscribe to my channel please
Oh hey, Sarah! I just stumbled upon this while looking for some videos for my oboe student. I found a winner! :-)
Can't help but to think of this video lol th-cam.com/video/YGhP1ch8VhI/w-d-xo.html
What would be a decent oboe to get for a beginner? $500? $1,000? Anything good from Amazon?
André Reiter Insturments bought online have been found to be low quality and don’t play as well as instruments bought at a music store. Also make sure that you buy or rent an instrument from a MUSIC store. Don’t buy or rent it from a store unrelated to music. At least that’s what my band teacher says.😅
Nightwing 161310 lol thanks for the reply. However, in a music store, what is a respectable minimum price for one who’s “starting out”? I imagine it would be one made out of plastic, and not wood?
Even band teachers know very little about the true quality or condition of oboes. That goes for reeds as well. That goes for music store employees too! You need a professional Oboist or a quality oboe teacher to assess the quality and condition of ANY oboe. That's a fact. If it's a hobby you're looking for, you've found an expensive and time consuming one that you'll spend your entire life trying to learn more so that you can continue attempting to play better.
Thank you...thank you... thank you ❤... ho cominciato a prendere lezioni di oboe da pochissimo tempo ed ho 47 anni... È difficilissimo ma è uno strumento meraviglioso. Grazie per questo video... "no oboe"😉❤
My oboe is very different there is no key on the bell and there is no bridge key in that spot i need help
Aarna Baranwal oboes with the keys on the bell are professional oboes, whereas oboes without keys on the bell are student oboes. You must have a student oboe if there aren't any keys on the bell
TheRandom_1234567890 _ Yes I am a student
@@aarnabaranwal3262 Ask your instructor or the shop
I’m really confused, the bell and the bottom piece, does the bell bridge part is going on top or what?
Great videos! Why did you stop!?
2:55
I’ve been playing oboe for 4 years but I’ll leave a subscribe to support my fellow oboist
AWWW I WANT AN OBOE REALLY BAD....BUT I GOT A CLARINET😔 BUT IS STILL GOOD
I have that same oboe
did anyone else cark themselves laughing at 4:16? ;D
You might want to cover the different hardnesses of reeds because for a beginner, they don’t know what the difference is or which one they should get.
Really, really good video. Thanks so much!
Very nice, thanks ! Could you please introduce us to the teacher on the video ? What is her name? Does she play in an orchestra ? Are there videos where she performs ?
i am so exided
this will help me a lot
Merci beaucoup. Your explications are very clear et you are very pedagogic and nice.
Thank you for this video. It really helped me. But can you tell me where you bought your oboe?
That looks like the oboe I got from China...that I broke a while ago
I'm sorry to hear that. But was it worth buying an oboe from China? I was thinking to buy one from there.
Just a dream I’d personally recommend against it. Like the comment above: his broke. Most Chinese instruments aren’t well manufactured and break and fall apart fairly quickly. If you’re looking for a cheap, but good quality instrument I’d recommend looking on EBay for some used oboes.
I'm a new Oboe player, and I'm having trouble playing D/Db. I can play C and use the trill key for it (I've just been pressing that to play Db) and I can play Eb but just not the two in between. My band director says that it's operator error but he also says he doesn't really know how to play the oboe. I feel like since I'm playing on a school instrument and it's only one not it may be a problem with the instrument but he won't have the music shop take a look at it. Someone help me please! Thanks!
Ask a other shop to inspect it
yahama
music bojarity ye
Ii
I LOST IT AT 4:18
Lete demonstrate again
Andrei Rosario 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
My instructor said to me to do this and if it sounds like that it’s a “good reed” and I just looked at him laughed and said “are you sure?”😂😂
iv been playing the oboe for 2 years
1:33 "I want you to say 'no oboe'". Well, that says it all! lol
Thank you, please have you made other videos about how to play the notes?
What's that little middle piece for?
The little round thing is probable a container of cork grease.
Helpful video! Thank you!
where to buy it? Please tell me
fallenSlave music store
Anywhere prob yahama
My low d came out as a high pitch . Is there something I'm doing wrong ?
open your jaw as if making an oh sound
Make sure you’re covering all holes
You may be blowing to low on the reed.
I got a plastic oboe Reed, will it last longer since its plastic?
LucasPlaysMC plastic reeds aren't the best at all you should stick with cane
From what I understand, Legeres are decent but I’d stay away from Fibercane/Fibracell reeds. They are more consistent and can last longer if you care for them from what I understand, but this is also true for if you opt to use a plastic clarinet or saxophone or bassoon Reed. A cane Reed is a living thing and thus may behave differently in different temparatures and humidity, while a plastic Reed is not and will be consistent, while many people claim they are inferior and don’t produce the same, reedy, full tone quality that you’d get from cane. I’m personally a clarinet player and while I have tried a Legere Reed the one I had was WAYYYY too thick and I haven’t truly been able to make a judgement on whether plastic is truly better than cane. Anyway sorry for my long tangent on your ages old comment, I hope you and anyone reading this has a good day :)
@@LordFloofTM Dave Shaffer of MIRI Corp - Musical Instruments Reeds International I worked for him for 20 years as he did RnD for the Fibracell flat reed for cl alto ten bari ... actually floated. I was QC for the Fibercane oboe reed. We wholesaled to Selmer. Machining tooling custom cutters hydrologic pneumatics motors switches relays and plastic dust. Oh, injection molded basson reeds too! The question do they last longer lol yes, at what cost lol I tested maybe 1/2 million reeds and were distributed all over for years then they were discontinued. Fibracell interesting history for another time.
great video. Thank you for posting
hey, thanks for your video, my oboe seems to be different to yours, my bell seems to be very stiff and I can't get my lower shaft onto it. I've tried the gentle twisting motion you described so as to not damage my instrument but I don't want to put my reed in and mess it up. help me please?
try cork grease.
