I'd love to see a fully featured FPGA-based handhrld gaming device. I'd love to see a smartwatch that detatches to be a handheld gaming device. These are both wonderful ideas. I'm not convinced they should be the same singilar project but I really hope I'm wrong and this is a huge sucess!

From your past videos it seems the hardware to make this happen is here, but man does this trailer leave a bad first impression. Reusing the same animation 3 times, no footage of the previous prototypes, poorly cropped google images, and uncanny humanoids synthesized by Al Pacino. The very logo seems to have been sharted from the aesthetically barren mind of DALL•E 3. I get that neither editing nor graphic design is your area of expertise, but that’s why you hire editors and graphic designers who know what they’re doing. Again, judging from how much time you’ve dedicated to this project in the past years I have some faith, but editing this sloppy and AI-generation this overbearing doesn’t help this stand out from the crowd.

That rig is a LOOOOONG way from fitting onto a watch. Google "worlds smallest Gameboy SP. Rip off they're design, it's Raspberri Pi based, so you'll figure it out, then you just have to CAD the shells, 3D print them, have the PCB's printed, and assemble the watches. Your welcome. Btw, the link on your TH-cam video doesn't work, you need to go back and edit it by taking the random b.s. after the "6649" out...
The Funkey S is already a similar size, its 100% possible.

Just learned of this project which intrigues me as I to wish to build a retro gaming device of my own and possible sell units to the public. good luck to you, hopefully by watching your progress I can learn more how to achieve my project as I have little experience in attempting what you are doing. =)
why do all the prototypes have giant boards attached to them? Is there any video of it running small enough to actually fit inside a watch?
Normal hardware development process, pretty much all products go through this. You build a giant board first so everything is easy to access, you can add extra ports for debugging, you can make fixes easily if there are mistakes etc. Then you work on shrinking it down to the target size.

Beyond excited and ready to back this device up. I love emulation and smart watches. Have gb and gbc on my oppo smartwatch. Absolutely love the idea and ability to take it off the wrist strap and use it as a handheld with physical buttons with just a flip.

And what do you even think you'll be playing on that? It has 4 buttons and a dpad most likely no triggers and it won't show the back so I assume the strange 8-10 button bootleg games are pre installed

@@jesseboy7951 sites like kickstarter and indiegogo are known to have crowd funding scams. someone shows something that's really interesting and cool and it gets funded and nothing ever happens and they run with the money. Edit: I want this to be real but as of right now it's just concept art and renders there's no actual proof of concept device that been made
Why's that? It already exists, they're just putting a watch band on it... You can get retro game emulators to run on Android, and there are Android smart watches. You can get Retroarch to run Gameboy DS, and you can get Raspberri Pi to Run Android, which runs Retroarch, which runs Gameboy DS. So why not just run Retroarch on an Android watch, to play ROMs of retro games, why get Raspberri Pi involved, because then you have the flexibility to run a watch on one screen and an emulator like Retroarch on the other, and recently somebody figured out how to make a Raspberri Pi computer small emough to make a Gameboy SP smalles than a 50¢ piece. Ergo; all of the technology exists to do this, the only R&D these guys have to do is C.A D. the plastic shell, and 3-D print it, and buy a bulk lot of watch bands for them ...

Yeah, this smells like vaporware. Too good to be true. Great specs, low price, unknown company, no fully functioning device yet. I backed kickstarters with production ready prototypes and it still took about a year until I received it.

Is SDRAM fast enough to store gameboy ROMs? The FPGA board i want to buy doesn't have any external SRAM and its block ram isn't big enough for games with multiple ROM banks.
