දීඝවාපී ස්තූපය මේ දිනවල ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය මුවාවෙන් ඉතිහාසය වෙනස් කරමින් ඇත.. පුරාණ දීඝවාපී ස්තූපයට කොටුවක් උඩ කොතක්, කොත්කැරල්ලක් හෝ චූඩා මානික්ක තිබුනේ නැත.. බුද්ධ කාලීන් ස්තුප තිබුනේ නෑබිලියක් මුනින් නවා ඇති ස්වරූපයෙන් සහ මුදුනේ ජ්ත්‍රයක් සවිකරලා.. ( අදටත් දීඝවාපී ස්තූපය අස ල මෙම ගලෙන් නිමවූ ජත්‍රය පසෙක ලා තිබෙනු දක්නට ඇත.. කරුණාකර අතීත දායාද විකෘති නොකර ඒවා ඒ ලෙසින් සන් රක්ශන ය කරන්න. අපේ ඉතිහාසය තවදුරටත් විකෘති කරන්න එපා.. මුනින් නැමූ නෑබිලිය හො පොල් බෑ කට්ටක් ලෙස පිලිබිබු කර්න්නේ ආර්‍ය අශ්ටාන්ගික මාර්ගයේ සම්මා සමධි අවස්තාව ප්‍රඥා සිහියට හෝ ඇසට දර්ශනය වෙන ආකාරයයි.. ඒ නිසා බුදුන් අරිහතුන්ගේ භශ්මාව ශේසා ඒවා තුල තැන්පත් කලේ ඒ අර්තය ඇතුවයි. තවද කිසිවකුට පෑගිමකට ලක්නොකොට අරාක්ශා වීම ඒ හැඩය නිසා සිදුවේ.. බුදුන් ගේ දර්ශනය ප්‍රඥා ඇසින් දකින එකක් මිස කිසිදා ලියා දැක්විය නොහැක.. ඒකට ලෝකෙ තියෙන සියලුම ගහකොල වලින් පොත් හදලා ලීවත් නොහැක..
