@@cricky7835 is that for the VPN connection and how are you connecting back to the server?
@@MultiTechspecidk in nights after 12 my vpn gives me speed of 100 mbps But in day it gaves me 10 to 20 May be isp blocking something for vpn what you think
@@cricky7835 ok I mean are you connecting on mobile or in café WiFi?
ISC DHCP is deprecated and will eventually be replaced with Kia (although Kia still currently has an issue with DHCP static leases registering their hostname with DNS). Is there any updates for moving to Kia, once it's the ONLY pfSense DHCP option?
@@STLJonny I think it depends on the setup so if you need option 66 or 67 then at this time it's supported by isc DHCP but you don't need custom options then kea I think should be fine from what I remember it supports tftp and network booting More information here: www.netgate.com/blog/netgate-adds-kea-dhcp-to-pfsense-plus-software-version-23.09-1

good to know info , tkx
Start with correct names/terms. QSFP28 & SFP28. You keep butchering the types all the way through.
Whatever you're using for a camera seems to have really bad auto focus.
This was actually pretty fun to watch cant wait for pt3!
Going to do any dynamic routing between pfsense and your arista?
I didn't think to do so, but its a cool idea would help a lot with getting round stp
Good stuff bro but there’s like ten minutes of nothing in this video haha
Ah sorry bro i put it together rather quickly I'll take another look at the video, and make it a bit more streamlined
Also did you mean in terms of how it connects to pfsense/VMware?
now that's cool!
Hi Bro, I need your help. I have Ubuntu 18.04 on my laptop and it has a VPN settings configured on it. This OpenVPN Its managed through pfsense. Split Tunnelling is enabled on the VPN server but it seems my local system is missing some configuration which is causing it to not work Now my query is that when I connect to this VPN I connect to my work network & am able to work inside it, but this disconnects the internet connectivity that is working on my base machine (Ubuntu 18.04) I want the internet to be working on my base system as well & also I should be able to connect to my work network Can you please tell me what settings I need to do on my laptop VPN to make this work. Kindly help.
Hey bro there's to things I can think I remember in pfsense there is a setting which allows you to push the DNS servers over the tunnel which effectively gives you internet if the DNS servers are configured for the internet names servers or for recursion, the others I think was to push the DNS server ips like 1.1.1.1 into the tunnel setting I think to give DNS access to the internet when you get the tunnel IP I'll see if I can make a video on it will take me a bit of time as I need to edit the pfsense build Also double check the tunnel settings check to see if the main tunnel interface is set to WAN and then check if the DNS servers are correctly set up and then check if you have the correct networks in the config that you want it should give internet if the firewall and NAT settings are set up correctly
Interesting stuff man. Keep up the amazing work would love to see more on this project.
Thanks man, the full video covering this topic is being released in the next few days

Consider to speak slower and more clearly. Also, you may plan before what you want to say to be direct. Your speech is to confusing.
Thanks for the feedback, please this method isn't really the best, I found it much better to use a switch and create a VLAN for the WiFi to help with broadcasts alternatively mesh networking seems to achieve the same effect as what was meant to be portrayed in the video
What's the purpose of the Odroid, how will you be using it?
At the moment I have it running pfsense, I wanted to reduce energy consumption as I originally had pfsense working on an R710, which was a bit overkill for my usage as I wanted to put xcp on it, I did find the onboard NICs very difficult to work with and found that opensense does support them but pfsense dose not natively
@@MultiTechspec interesting, and what will pfsense be needed for?
@@dghgfhjgnxdgfhtfyuiy i use pfsense as a router and as a VPN as it has opvenvpn support but there is alot of different things that can be done with it such as OSPF and BGP you can even do VLANS LAGG as well as advanced firewalling with package like snort and pulled pork which is very convenient if you want to port forward to local machines, if the cloud is not cost effective, you can also install tftp packages directly on it which is great if you a PXE solution for other systems, you also do traffic shaping, and add virtual IPS
@@MultiTechspec oh nice, I think if you mentioned that in the video that would be good, gives the viewers an idea of intent of use as well as use cases. Most of what you said is beyond my level of understanding but I appreciate your enthusiasm towards this project

not sure of what you to do you need to be more fluent
its just to make a IIS server to host web pages, this was before I found out Linux web hosting, what ever you do don't do the part of opening port 80 out on the internet unless you have proper security such as an IPS, cisco ASA, NGFW, or sandbox, to be fair its needs a bit of an update as you can use somthing like AWS to do the same on linux a lot eaiser
Thank you.

KenKiller NewLife if your trying to control the Internet at another property that you have authorised access to you should do this through a VPN if the router supports this feature
Bro - Deborah is online hahahaaaa -
Adejumo Magbagbeola tell her I said HI ha ha ha
I am looking into this for a computer for photogrammetry and other intensive tasks that tend to hold the CPU at 100% for long periods of time. Not only would one or more CPUs help but some with multiple cores. The other advantage I can think of is you can add lots or RAM to them if you want. I just added 32 GB of ram to my desktop and that made things a bit smoother. I have an Athlon FX 8350 for gaming and internet browsing. I always like to get higher spec hardware than I may really need because it is cheaper to just do it then instead of upgrading later in some cases. Anyhow a repurposed server would be a good option for those not wanting to tie up their PC for these things.
John Doe if you have access to a decent Internet connection like Google fibre AWS becomes a really good option for what you plan to do

Thankyou Sir a lot. Keep making these kinds of videos....and in the end you made all of us happy along with you. Thanks once again.
you dont need a crossover cable with modern switches...
true there a feature in modern switches called auto-mdix which detects whether its a cross through or a straight through cable which is needed but on the switch shown in the video for some reason to connect to it it needs to have a serial to crossover connection from what i understand
ahh i remember having to use crossovers on old 10 base10 but never 100/1000 switches
yeah that sounds about right, i think just the way dell has configured the switch mainly because its a serial, i suppose if i had the pin out i could make the cable but haven't seen anything for it :/
This was not helpful :(
ok thanks for the feedback but when you say its not helpful how do you mean?
So how do i get the website to use www. because when i use that the website fails to load?
+Jack Ralph Hi, the way i have done it in the video is purely based on the external ip address you can you whats my ip.com to find out what it is, if you want to link it to www. you need a dns provider and a static external ip address (speak to your ISP to obtain one), or you can use a provider such as NO-IP where you can install a client which registers the external IP address your using on there server. once you setup the no ip account it should go something like this 89.100.20.1 ---> www . thisismywebsite . com hope this helps
Multitechspec Hi No worries I found the issue I just had to change the website name and make sure it had a www. at the start funnily enough, thanks anyway. :)
this video is great. Showing from the scratch. Keep uploading. I have installed my machine :) so happy :) thanks :)
Don;t you mean right click?
+Luke Gibson i guess.. i don't remember to be honest
Excellent video! Helped me alot! Thank you for making it. eric
windows key + r type "cmd" enter then type ipconfig /all | instead of using all the windows gui stuff, this is much faster or right click the start menu area click run, or command prompt, then type the above
good point
seems easy enough
can you ad more servers for free or do you need to pay for extra
+kaine de kok if you have computers which you are not using that support windows server than yes you can add more physical server and then use load balancing connect the servers together if there is a lot of traffic to the website alternatively you can also you virtual machines and achieve the same result
Not sure that explained anything of use to anyone else.

Please be more prepared before making a video next time. But otherwise the video was pretty useful.
Windows server 2012, inside windows 7....inside windows 7 :)

Hey. Is there possibility to get new tutorial from you on whole topic? How to set Web server on Windows Server 2012 + PHP, MySQL, FTP, all that shizz? Damn in Debian I just downloaded Ajenti and I had almost everything ready after install. On windows after 2 days of searching, reading, learning I finally set up wordpress, but can't use his FTP functionality (updating, downloading plugins) because somehow I configured FTP user wrong. I have windows VPS because I was hosting big software on that but now it's staying with no work, so I would like to move at least one wordpress website to it.. But this whole IIS is a mess for me. Apach with good server panel would do work but windows have no good panels (well, there is IIS so we know why). I'm even ready to reinstall whole system because I'm pretty sure that I probably did so many unnecessary settings etc . . .
***** I'll see what I can do in terms of making a complete tutorial of word IIS but for the meantime have you used WAMP for initial set-up and then checked if that config works? as far as I'm aware it is possible to get Cpannel for a VPS I don't know if its free or you have to pay for it though
Multitechspec Cpanel not, but Plesk. But it's payed too. Also people probably would want to see not only PHP, MySQL, FTP but + DNS settings for domain. I personally got threw PHP, Mysql, DNS installation and configuration ok. But this FTP problems with accounts just made me "Ok I'm done with that f it". And I set all my domains buck to second hosting. Managing everything without normal panel is really time wasting, especially this MySQL where you need to use mysql console to create databases, users, bla bla... For me whole this IIS sucks that way. If I would host some commercial websites, especially hosting company, I would probably change it for Linux. I don't even want to think how I would do automatic hosting and user management for this Windows without Plesk. Worst is I think documentation. On 2012 you got newest IIS and settings changed. Microsoft don't write in documentation "Host name should be your domain name", or "This option is better than that because of that". They just write "- Write host name", "Select some option" and people like me have headaches. I know that it's free but damn ... Thanks anyway for interest.
i have to agree with you on this for web hosting definitely would choose Linux as its far easier to use the command line for permissions and to set up things in general. php can be a bit of a headache though I have had trouble with packages concerning php5 when trying to set SMTP squirrel mail web interface and that's when things become a headache. in terms of windows the permissions for FTP can usually be over turned I know that's there a very good video on FTP on windows server 2008 in terms of windows server 2012 try th-cam.com/video/AGgArVFLxpM/w-d-xo.html for theory and pratciail use via 2008 use link below th-cam.com/video/yMDKi2bH4Eg/w-d-xo.html and skip to the part most relevant to you in terms of MYSQL im not up on this so i can't help you on this part of the config. DNS setting in windows are done through forward and reverse lookup zones and the theory behind DNS gets damm complex when MX and A records get involved. I would say see if you can configure it via a gateway from the company hosting the domain
Multitechspec Yea thanks man. This FTP tutorial is good. Finally something on "full" topic. DNS were pretty easy for me. I don't really know what tutorial I was using, sorry. But all I needed is to set forward zone, add there two records and that was all. Website was working, but problem was that DNS Lookups was showing me some errors what I didn't really understood. Second domain I configured even easier because I didn't make my own Name servers, but found that OVH have 2 ready nameservers for people like me and in domain configuration I just wrote "vps0000.ovh.net" + "ns2.blabla" - sorry I don't remember :D Anyway if you would create new tutorial, it would be nice to see NS configuration too. Yea SMTP is still in front of me - what is website without mail functionality. Hope I will make it somehow. I'm pretty sure that if I'd not know cpanel it would be a little bit easier for me to learn this IIS. But yeah. I was using easy manager for couple of years and now I have problems with something harder. Thanks for help. Sorry for my mistakes :)
yes i did a nit more reaserchand into this and found out how to set it up but i would use linux to set it up as its eaiser
You suck. This video should've taken 5 minutes at a maximum. Try to prepare next time. We don't need to spend 11 minutes listening to your fat lips mumble through meaningless crap.
Georgie Arn thank you for your comment i'll bear that in mind the next time. also you are free to skip to the part you need you don't have to listen to the whole video if it doesn't suit your needs
Hi there, I was wondering how easy and/or feasible it would be to convert an old(ish) server into a working desktop - as I have spotted an old server tower with good specs - with apparently DDR3 installed on it. However it has no hard drives and no OS. I'm not really a computer expert (but learn quickly), and thought this could be a good project with a decent potential outcome. Do you think it would be a waste of time/money? thank you for your time.
Hi, there are a few good computers out there but server type hardware like a dell R710 have come with propriety software and hardware limitations so for example you cant run a GTX 980 due to power restriction so for example it can only deliver i think it was about 75 watts on a PCIE gen 2 slot so you'll need to need to have an external power supply to boot the card. that kind of thing. but bear in mind that the r710 isn't really mean for workstation environments a better solution is i would say make your own server/workstation so i good board at the moment would be Z10PE-D16 WS which is a beast of a board but you flexibility in terms of what you can do with as you have dual CPU's sockets for things like visualization, and up to 4 GPU's for gaming, rendering etc another good board would be Z10PED8_WS. it really depends on what you want to do with the computer
Wow. That went way over my head! But thanks for such a detailed response, wish I had the knowhow to understand it. I can see that it is not just a simple switchover. I'll look a little more into it as it seems as though I'll probably waste money if I rush into buying it. Any idea if I can graveyard the parts into another desktop? for example, the server I've seen (for £45) has a Xeon Processor (3GHz) and 12GB DDR3 RAM, but no hard drives/operating system. Could I just take out the bits I want? or even use the case and take things off the motherboard? or is this just another waste of time? I forgot to say thank you for your time and patience with my lack of computer intelligence.
you may be able to but it depends on a number of factors so for example with the processor is the socket type compatible (in a nutshell that's the number of pins the motherboard has/requires the CPU to have in order for the board and cpu to work correctly). in terms of memory is the voltage enough for them to work? are the number quoted on the ram sticks for example PC3-1600 compatible with the motherboard, what im trying to say is it depends on what your building as well as are the parts that you want to salvage compatible with the system you want to build. if its a modern server your trying to build then the general answer is yes a lot of parts are inter-compatible.. if you want more info about this a great source for this that I like to use is linustechtips as well as NCIXtechtips they can explain what im saying in simpler manner through some of the videos that they have other sources of information include the manufactures websites for the components that you have and websites such as extremetech if you want want to get down to the nittygritty type of level
thanks a lot
Tip! Use vmware player when doing this for first time
You are very hard to follow. I suggest writing everything down before doing the video, then read from that. I have no Idea what you are trying to say.
Granted.. what I was trying to say as a possible solution was to use an old router and then if you had a computer with 2 Ethernet ports attached to it then in windows you can bridge the 2 port so that internet traffic is shared for the duration that that the computer is on. Then make sure that the old routers address for access i.e the default gateway address (this is the address that is used by devices to access the internet is different to that set by the ISP's) ... This is to avoid an IP address conflict and will allow you to manage both routers. the address tend to be either 192.168.0.1/24 or 192.168.1.1/24. In this method you have to disable DHCP on your old router this is because the router which your ISP has supplied you with also has DHCP enabled meaning that a conflict can occur. Hope this helps I should mention that when I recorded this video I was with sky and haven't mentioned one thing which need's to be addressed This is the speed of your current connection for example in this video this configuration will work at full speed because both of the Ethernet ports at the back of the computer are gigabit so they can connect to the SR 101 (skys "white" router) which has 100mbs Ethernet links because of to auto-negation and therefore if you have a connection faster then 100mbs for example sky decide for what ever reason there going for 120mbs then you would not get the full 120mbs because the slowest link in the network can only do a maximum of 100mbs so essentially you would something closer to about 80mbs this is due to network overheads. In an unrelated bit to this article This hack is a bit outdated with sky ADSL I think that the wireshark solution has more merit than this (i know that i shouldn't really say that about my own videos but i guess that;s my sense of humility kicking in... ha ha) also on slow bandwidth links couple that with a pfsnese server running squidproxy and snort and then using AP's and you can get yourself a better setup because you will then have an IDS which scans incoming and outgoing packets in accordance to a rule set and then you would also have a caching server to save on bandwidth (for things like video and pictures) as well as a high performance customisable router that behaves a bit like DD-WRT. Also if the AP'S are in a switch with POE you can set them up so that you can transition from AP to AP without loss in connection ie minimize jitter and latency when moving from AP to AP. A lot of solutions currently seem to posses one or more features of the architecture I have proposed.
