The Christmas Story - Why the Shepherds First?
Hello everyone, I hope you are all well! :-)
Today I am talking about why the shepherds were chosen as the first people to see the baby Jesus, and I take a walk around Canterbury Christmas market.
I am now using paid software to edit my videos so I really hope this helps to stop TH-cam from compressing my videos too much and that they are less pixelated!
If you enjoy my videos though please do give me a comment, and hit that thumbs up button and please subscribe to my channel below, it really helps me out!
If you have any subjects you would like me to talk about from a Christian point of view please either leave a comment on one of my videos, or you can email me at: walkingandtalking.mrs.smith@gmail.com
Thank you so much for watching :-) and Happy Advent!

@@jackiefox6163 you too ❤️🙂
It's such a nice way to say this story. Lovely voice, too. Thank you 😊
@radmila0792 Merry Christmas 🎄❤️
God really is inclusive ❤
Really interesting talk with lovely meaning of what an advent calendar represents. True advent history.
@@jackiefox6163 ahh thank you so much! 💓
Thanks for doing this Mrs Smith. As a former teacher in a Catholic school, Advent and the Advent Wreath assemblies formed a big part of our lead up to Christmas. Each class made one for use in lessons and brought it into assembly on Fridays ( the closest we could get to each of the Sundays) to light the next candle. 🕯️
@EileenMoloney-d2v oh wow, that's really lovely! ❤️ It must have been really interesting for you being a teacher in a Catholic school. Which subject did you teach? X
Great singing Mrs S and I love the BP reference. I never made one myself. I do remember my mum lighting candles on the xmas tree which is mad...that tree would've gone up like a bonfire! Great channel btw and a happy Christmas to you all! x
@mrianforest Ahhh thank you so much and lol to your mum and her candles 🤣🎅
Amen to your prayer ❤
The answer is YES He does. Why else would He condemn them to be treated as less than men for eternity. A slave was forced to take the name of their owner. The name of this channel is a great example. A few passages? Just a few? 😂😂😂 The whole book from beginning to end, promotes the premise, women ARE less than men. And let's not forget from the beginning, who was blamed for ADAM eating the fruit?😅😅
@carriehuskinson3349 hello, thank you for your comments. If you believe that God hates women, may I ask, why do you think that God used so many women in the Bible, just like he did men? And why do you think Jesus chose to appear to a woman first after his resurrection? 😊
@mrs.smithwalkingandtalking Used is the key word. Now explain if women were so useful, why he makes them LESS than men? Why He thinks men are so much more moral they are head of the family? Yes, God uses women, uses being the key word. Never empowering, only USED.
@carriehuskinson3349 Thank you for your reply 😊 but actually, if you read the Christian Bible, you can see it was human beings who treated women as second class back then, not God. Jesus treated women with respect and dignity, and he broke human cultural barriers by meeting with women in public, he was saying they are equal. Also, several women are described as prophets in the Bible, including Sarah, Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Abigail, Huldah, Mrs Isaiah, Esther, and Noadiah. And there are plenty of Bible verses empowering women too, Psalm 64:5, Proverbs 3:5-6, Jeremiah 29:11, Luke 1:45, Romans 8:28, and Philippians 4:13 and so on, plus Paul said there is now no male or female, basically saying everyone is equal 😊 there is plenty in the Christian Bible showing examples of how God loves women 😁 you just have to read it ❤️ but again, thank you for your comments. PS... I took my husband's name because I love him, and I'm proud to be his wife, not because we're not equal 😉 actually we run a business together, as equals 👍
@mrs.smithwalkingandtalking As the grandchild of a devote Adventist, I have read my Bible cover to cover. I don't use it as Christians do today, as a buffet, picking and choosing what suits their agenda. The fact remains, women are second class to men throughout the Bible. Please tell me exactly how many books were written BY women? And how many women were allowed to participate in the selection of books now found in the Bible? Your answer will be zero. Why? Because religious text were NEVER allowed to be selected or interpreted by women. And why is that? This discrimination carries over to the secular world, which is one reason the US has never had a female leader. How many female Pope's have their been? How many leaders of the Mormon church? You go ahead and sit in the back seat, if you choose. Personally I think the world would be better off, if now and then, a women was the driver.
One of my favourite ruins, beautiful footage. Great to listen to you :)
@PinnedonPlaces ahh thank you that's very kind ❤️
God loves men
@heathersnyder8789 I believe he loves everyone equally 😊
Often I have asked for the extra inner strength to get over obstacles and whilst it is very hard to explain, he has provided what ever it is I needed, the sense of him being by my side - I often think about the footsteps on the beach story.
@@mikefriday4204 it's so good to hear that! I find it amazing sometimes just how powerful God's answers can be seen and felt 🙏🌈
This got me thinking, i guess in my mind I thought they were one and the same. Thank you for another great walk and talk.
@mikefriday4204 thank you for your comment. Yeah, it's sometimes subtle, but faith definitely is a lot deeper ❤️
I've always viewed belief as the first step towards faith. Many thanks for your thoughts, mrs. Smith.
Definitely! Massive difference between just believing in something from a distance, and believing it so much that you have faith in it, trust in it, confidence in it. 100%. 😊
Pray for the war in Gaza, Ukraine, etc, to stop tomorrow, along with all the disease, pestilence, starvation, natural disasters, children born with deformities and incurable mental problems, etc, that have and will continue to afflict the sinful and innocent in equal measure, and have been responsible for the pain suffering and death of billions throughout human history, and then tell me at which point prayers have ever made or ever will make a difference? It's all a load of made-up mumbo jumbo. If you can believe that an all-powerful entity (and an all good one apparently) can let that happen throughout the span of human history, and then make up all kinds of nonsensical rubbish to excuse it all (yes, it's never the fault of that omnipotent sky fairy and its failure to do a single thing about anything, is it?) then you can shove 'God' where the sun don't shine! It's all claptrap. Put it this way, what person who believes in God would not do something about all those aforementioned things, had they the omnipotence to do so? Most would agree that they would. But they can't because they do not possess that power, yet their God, who supposedly does possess such power, is doing nothing to alleviate what his lowliest of believers would do in a heartbeat if they could. Don't bother with the aforementioned excuses, as they are no more convincing in their repetition. The fact that you would excuse and exonerate a god for any of it tells its own story. This is not meant as any personal insult, but one I make against ANY religion or God, and certainly not because of any political proclivities. I see myself as a good, kind, moral person - and I'm all of those things without the need to please a god or, indeed, believe in one.
So true 👍
@@StephenSmith-l8e thank you ❤️
It's good to know that God does hear us and answer us 👍

It is interesting how words are used differently by people. Thank you for a helpful explanation of your thoughts on this topic.
It is isn't it? And the meaning of words changes over time, the original meaning lost, and then those who continue to use a word as it was originally intended are jumped on! Thankyou for your comment 😊
Thank you Mrs Smith for a thoughtful talk.

We all have gifts that come naturally to us - but we need to give God the glory. Spiritual gifts are practical gifts - heaven sent !
@@smee1940 sometimes, and sometimes I believe God gives us a special gift for a particular time and place 😊
I think that the 'rules' around women's place in the church are man-made to suit society at the time. They are still in place in some religious groups, such as Roman Catholics and orthodox Jews.
@EileenMoloney absolutely man made, yes, certainly not biblical 👍
I Must admit I was suprised to read the title, it is something that has never crossed my mind. My own thought is that God would see us as equals.
@mikefriday4204 Hi Mike, I believe God does see us as equals, if you listen right through you'll hear me explain why I believe that. But you'd be amazed at how many people in churches use those verses to say that women shouldn't be vicars or lead services. It's appalling. Thanks for your comments 😊
Good to know God sees us all as equals!
Lovely area and just around the coast from me lol. Some would say we have all be given a gift, that of life.

I blame tech. Remember the good old days when we sent letters and then we'd have to wait weeks for a reply? That was fine and we were happy with that. Thanks to tech we now have zero patience. We'll send a message and then immediately start refreshing our phones waiting for a reply and if it doesn't arrive in 30 seconds we start to wonder why we're being ignored, did we say something wrong? Are they mad at me? Why am I being ghosted? We've turned into impatient lunatics. Another great video Mrs S - Peace, have a joyous weekend x
@mrianforest agreed 100% and thank you 😊
Depends on your perspective...it's like eating a Krispy Kreme, tastes amazing at first but you get hit with a wall of regret afterwards AKA the health inspector of the soul. So sin...usually involves actions that go against divine commandments or moral principles. The nice part? That's the sneaky bit...it often comes with temporary pleasure, like sneaking out late at night or telling a white lie to avoid getting into trouble. So, maybe its more like, naughty with a hint of nice...followed by a serving of moral indigestion. Enjoy the moment if you must but be ready to face the divine dentist for that cavity in your conscience!
I absolutely love your comments, and can sooo relate to the Krispy Kreme analogy! haha I think you sum up sin very well here! Maybe you should be doing these videos instead of me??!! ;-) LOL x
Think about it...God created the universe, which is pretty impressive. If God was an alien, he would be the ultimate space traveller, capable of popping up in any galaxy and bending the laws of physics just for fun. It would also mean that "first contact" with aliens happened a very long time ago and we've been interpreting those encounters in very, very different ways. Every depiction of God shows him as living somewhere in the heavens, so maybe he is up there somewhere, the most all-powerful, omnipresent alien out there, and we're all trying to figure out his galactic master plan!
Maybe he even has his own tardis... lol 🙂
My old home town, use to spend hours in mote park, I see a lot of changes. Must pay a visit soon. Hope you feel better soon and back on your feet. Mr S was a very steady driver!

There's another video coming up this Saturday 🙂x
Hello, your video was recommended to me on my TH-cam simply because it's to do with ghosts. Firstly, as someone who has been into "ghost hunting" since I was 12 and having many, many strange experiences that cannot be explained I can honestly say that "ghosts" do exist, but not in the way we're told. I myself am Norse Pagan (due to my family heritage), a practicing witch and a clairvoyant, I am very connected to nature, I know that whatever form we take when we pass over, it's nothing like being alive. It's a case of us being energy based beings, therefore when the body dies, our energy lives on. As for taking the forms of loved ones, it could simply be residual energy or we will them to come, which is entirely possible. I'm very spiritual and I explore different aspects of life and "death", I am happy to talk about this subject none stop because it is extremely interesting and gets the hairs up on your neck 😊 I enjoyed your video by the way, such a beautiful place. I'd love to go there and just listen, and maybe investigate of corse. Take care, sending love, light and blessings to you and your family 💚🌳🧙🏼♀️
@paganspirit3621 thank you so much for watching my video and taking the time to comment 😊
I don’t think I’ll be going to Dering Woods anytime soon! Too overgrown and lonely but I’d be more worried about living people hiding there. I’ve always had difficulty explaining to children that we try to encourage them to believe in the Holy Spirit but not to believe in ‘spirits’ or ghosts. Also- the number of mediums seems to be growing- some people are desperate to believe that their loved ones are still around, looking after them- which is a very human thing to want. Thanks again for such a thought provoking talk.
@user-bv4qu2pp5l thank you for your comments. I didn't see anyone while there, but it was very muddy from all the rain so not surprising really xx
