I started recording raw, mostly unedited videos of Tesla's FSD beta software in late June 2023 to capture the progress Tesla is making on its software & how it affects my daily trips. I try to post my criticisms & feedback for each drive in the video description.
This channel is not a typical "let's discuss Tesla" channel. There are lots of other channels for that. I post content to show the effectiveness of Tesla's FSD software in my area. I'm sure describing what was going on in the car might be more engaging at times, but my goal is to limit the amount of time I need to process, edit, and post videos, so the easiest way to do that is to focus on driving (and not talking), & as a result there is no speech in my videos. I like the fact that you can hear the ambient noise, people honking, etc because I am not talking over it.
If you don't like my content, don't watch - simple!

Local being Mesa Gateway or Chandler Municipal compared to Sky Harbor?
Falcon Field is the closest airport to me. Mesa Gateway is second. I actually did most of my initial flight training at Chandler though - before I started recording.
How satisfied overall are you with FSD on HW3? I'm in the same area as you, so it is great to see a real test on the roads I would visit.
pretty happy with it. I started using FSD when it was first available and you had to have a safety score. It has come a long way and it very useful for me most of the time. I'm looking forward to the day I dont have to monitor it, which I think will be coming sooner than most people think.
Do loop 303 north
How does HW3 fsd perform with the sun (specially setting suns in evening)? I struggle myself sometimes driving into it, wondering how your 2018 does.
the setting sun does pose an issue sometimes - especially when it is on the horizon and the light is directly in the camera. BUT, the percentage of the times that it affects my drives is relatively low. It usually just warns that a camera is occluded and that I need to take over until the sun is not coming directly into the camera lens.
I'm having the same issue. It used to work before the latest update. Have you figured out how to get it working yet?
it will sometimes come out of attention monitoring but it usually goes back. i wear sunglasses when I drive and sometimes when the attention monitoring kicks off i actually take my sunglasses off momentarily so that i can re-engage the attention monitoring. but that is pretty rare - it normally comes back by itself. it's not really that big of a deal for me
Oh... 2018 model 3... Sorry... FSD, IMO, has always been the worst idea Tesla could've came up with... If I'm gonna spend 5 figures on a car, I'm driving that MF, not the gd car or Tesla corp.
then you're missing the whole point.
Yeah... Let me point out a disclaimer in the first line "FSD,IMO"... Cheerio mate!
Can’t wait until you get V13. My Y got the update a few days ago…it’s beautiful!
i see you have a death wish. i wouldn't put my life in the hands of unproven technology.
okay, yeah. um it proves itself everyday. It drives safer than a human.
Uhhh.... You have a steering wheel, Accelerator and brake pedals, why don't you drive the car yourself? The quintessential driver that I am considers "FSD" with a liquid vitriolic hatred.
have you even tried it recently
v13 is so smooth that you just see normal driving most of the time. Although it can give you the red hands turning into the sun.
I would assume the views dropped since v13. I don‘t watch any 12 since. Looking forward to boring 13 videos :) Greetings from europe, land of the drivers who aren‘t allowed to enjoy modern tech.
Are you sure you paid $1000 for your 2018 Model 3 to upgrade to HW3? I'm also using a 2018 Model 3 hw2.5 and I'm thinking about upgrading.
I did not pay anything to upgrade to HW3. I bought my M3 used from Tesla with less than 9k miles on it. It included HW3, acceleration boost, and FSD.
Let's face it, your video is boring, but that's not a bad thing. Driving in general is boring unless one is on a road trip driving through unique scenery. This video has nothing really interesting to see. You could take your car through some busy traffic, where there are multiple left or right turns, downtown traffic, pedestrians walking around etc. You could also tell a story, while driving FSD. All this highway or motorway driving is not really showing off FSD and it's capabilities. This is kind of like an auto pilot, and most cars these days can do it, but Tesla is the best of course. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thanks for the video. I liked it. P.s. the video should also show you are hands free, and I want to see the pedals with no feet, and how about a clearer video of the screen. Those are all things you can do to improve viewership. Another observation, there is no music or talking or fancy graphics or anything. Do these videos need to be 25 minutes long? Why not 10 minutes or half that?
I honestly dont care about views. it was just an interesting observation. I started this channel with the thought that no one would watch because driving is boring. Then people starting watching and then people started subscribing. the goal of my videos isn't to have fancy graphics, music, or a narrative. There is no story. it is to document the progress of FSD and how it has affected my drives in the area where I drive. I don't force drives through busy traffic just for interesting content to capture more viewers. I just document my drives. that's why. and i don't really care about anything else. watch or dont. i don't care. Those are my thoughts in general. having said that, thanks for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed it.
I still watch them..watching FSD is fascinating.
I appreciate you!
beauty full 👏
You're doing a fantastic job! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
The beginning part of this drive looks so jerky
Is it a FSD thing the full frame road view ?
FSD is the Full Self Driving "product" which is the AI hardware and software that drives the car by itself. The FSD system includes the cameras, the computer, the inference software, and the output to the controls. I think of the screen as just the display that shows many things. I have it set to show the road view when I'm driving. it does have indications that FSD is engaged, but it by itself is not FSD. The screen is like a giant tablet attached to the car. It has a touch screen and you can go into settings to change preferences, view maps and set navigation, play games and watch videos, open a web browser, etc. some of the things like watch videos you can only do in park at the moment. Also, the road view is included with the car regardless if you purchase FSD. it is an attempt to show the car's surroundings so that you don't necessarily have to look in your blind spot, for example, while changing lanes. The display shows you traffic or other obstacles surrounding your car. When you go to park your car, sensors will show you how close you get to objects, so when I pull into the garage it will actually tell me in inches how far I am from the wall of the garage. but that part of it is NOT FSD and included in the software by default when you purchase the car.
Bro you'll love v13, I just had mine today, it's instane, I think as days go by it'll be widely released to more people.
Old news
How long have you had your car? I just got a model 3 on Friday
since March 2021
I wish more people on the east coast would try this, especially in NJ. NJ has the most complicated highway system in America, and our cities are a mess. Can someone in NJ do this?
Do you have HOV access? that will need to be declared in the car for AP to consider.
In Arizona, HOV lanes are only open to vehicles with two or more occupants during weekday rush hours, from 6-9 AM and 3-7 PM. At other times, any vehicle can use the HOV lane unless there are other posted restrictions. Additionally, I have an AZ EV plate with allows access during the restricted hours so I am able to drive in the HOV late whenever I want, however, most of my driving right now is in the times outside of rush hours. I'm sure if there is an HOV setting in the car, I have selected that years ago. Maybe you can point me to the setting so that I can verify?
@@Phenix9-TM3 no I meant in the future they will need to handle that.
oh gotcha
L❤❤❤❤
Do you own FSD or are you paying the subscription?
i got my car used in 2021 from Tesla and included FSD when I bought it.
@ How much mileage did the car have when you bought it?
about 9k
Even AI speeds.
you can set the speed. otherwise, FSD usually goes fairly slow to be honest
Tesla model 3 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁
I’m on 12.5.6.3
Only here for the Halloween decor at 34:03 😆
Such a cool system, seems to handle stuff pretty well!
It would help if you actually talk and describe what the car is doing, your interpretation etc. I live in Phoenix and I took delivery of my refreshed M3 LR in March. I love the car and the tech. It literally puts a smile on my face every time I get to drive it.
Is this hw3 or 4?
HW3
Watch out, if Trump loses, your Tesla might crash itself.
no
It stills feels unreal that a car can do this
I got a month's free of FSD. Why?
Tesla has said that with the rollout of each new major update, they will give 30 days free so that people can try out the software and see its features and capabilites.
@@Phenix9-TM3 I thought it's a bribe to vote for Trump.
no
I suggest don't drive at night. Because the cameras can't guarranty 100% can see the objects.
really?
@highlanderc according to The Driven Australia, someone used FSD and hit an animal in the middle of the highway at night in about 50 metres far away. Because Cameras can't see clearly in the dark. Unless you use radar. Radar can detect objects in any situation. You can search for the recent news on The Driven. Radar is very expensive.
It looks like your marked position on the navigation screen shows the vehicle pointed in the wrong direction. Unless the map is zoomed out, it looked like it was pointed in the wrong direction.
at what timestamp on the video?
@@Phenix9-TM3 It must have been my mistake. At the beginning, after the screen came back on, it looked as if your arrow was pointed in the wrong direction. I've been watching your other videos. It seems you start in the same location, and I noticed the arrow is always like that.

9:47 damn the car judged the situation better than most ppl i know! looks like it stopped quick but pretty smoothly too. impressive!

probably closer to 4-5 minutes actually.
yeah I've been having issues with this release. I hope they get us the next update fast not liking 12.5.4.1
There are a lot of mixed reviews of 12.5.4.1. Lots of HW3 owners are complaining about phantom braking, stopping at green lights, and so on. They say 12.3.6 was much more solid and predictable. What has your experience been?
It has been pretty much perfect for me so far, only minor things here and there.
29:50 | Quite interesting how It thought it had to change lanes in order to follow the route.
Thank you for your videos.
That's baby Phoenix rush hour! Lets see it on the 10 west-bound from downtown! I do that commute every day and its brutal. I just got a M3 last week and trying to see if its worth it to get FSD to deal with the nightmare.
