Where did you get contact info to get parts? I have looked and called everywhere with no luck.

What a messy VAN

It is just a very extended fabric "clunk" filter as found in chainsaws..... the fabric obviously catches rust and it certainly holds back water.... and because it is so long... every part of the fabric would need to be equally stopped up to make that filter unable to work. The fact that the filter housing is cast iron means that if there is moisture in the fuel from condensation running down the fuel line from the inside of the fuel tank....the housing will rust. You could take the housing and clean it back to bare metal then POR15 it (and the fuel tank).... and just replace that very effective filter "cord"???? Draining the bottom inch of liquid in the housing via the bottom bung every month would also help??? Many people replace or supplement that filter with one for a diesel agricultural engine...with a CAV296 style filter like on a New Holland combine etc.

Make sure you use a rosin based gasket sealer. I used Permatex.

I think the small round gaskets are for the valve tappet guides/holders/whatever you want to call those. Genuine Perkins copper asbestos gaskets made in England were the same, crimped only inside the holes for the cylinders and oil and water passages, the outer edge and stud holes were not crimped.

I think you can replace that primitive wick with a more modern Lister 330573 in tank filter (equivalents P502514, PF7820, FF5044, MFF65300A) using a reducing nipple. It's 3" tall (excluding the 1/4" BSP male thread connection) and 1-1/8" wide so it may fit in that bowl.

Are both flywheel counter weights on the same side or are they 180 degrees out of phase…? I think mine flywheel keyways are incorrectly machined….

I think all that paint keeps the parts in place, it's like a threadlocker but applied externally 😁

Good use for an engine powered by heat, other Stirling fans I saw before were cooling fans and having a burner under the fan doesn't seem to help keeping the air cool 😉
