DC Direct Silver Age Superman and Lois Lane Toy Review & Breakdown of the Silver Age Aesthetic
Which one is worth it 40th anniversary or 50th?
The original Black Series release from 2020 was better than the retro card back version from 2023, IMO. Even though the 2023 has nicer color apps on the face and the poncho, the head sculpt on the 2020 looks more convincing to me.
I've gambled on a 1:12 bike and it is too small for the ML/Classifieds line. I am switching to 1:10 scale and that should be better. Better it be slightly oversized than undersized. But I think that particular scale would work much better to have figures on or standing next to it,
I’ve tried the 1/10 scale on 1/12 figures and the scaling is way off. Some of the bikes are way too big for 6 inch figures. There’s a lot of variation. I hope to do a video on this soon.
@@WhysoseriousToys True. I'm experimenting with a few different brands, see how they come out. Lots of factors at play here with the figures themselves and which types of bikes would suit their size.
@@Rakerong Yes! I think one thing a lot of collectors don't quite appreciate enough is that sometimes the vehicle is 1/12 scale but the figure is not. this is something that I would love to talk about in a video.
Aoshima's are display pieces. Definitely not for action figure posing and/or playing. I've actually bought a couple of 1/12 motorcycle kits from Aoshima and Tamiya. They're still unbuilt and in their boxes but this is exactly what I was thinking of doing when I bought them. The finished ones are great but I liked the custom bikes more than the factory stock ones. I was also thinking that they'd be lighter than the die cast counterparts too so that'd help with the figures in the future.
I’ve pretty much given up on Aoshima die cast. They’re cool as background pieces, at best. I haven’t taken a chance on any of the model kits but I like your reasoning. Whenever you get around to building yours I’d love to hear how they turned out. I might have to try them out myself.
@@WhysoseriousToys For sure! If you've got any socials that would make it easier to get in touch with you once I'm able to build one of the kits. It's hard to track down replies on TH-cam when it gets burried by other notifications.

Need 1/10 scale bikes. I know legends scaled figures SHOULD work. But... got a lot of expwrience w Terminator, and Ghost Rider figures. An occasional 1/12 I find will work. But the best ones have been 1/10.
I needmotorcycles for my DREDNOKS TDWU COBROSEXUALS 🎉
On it.
I bought that Punisher bike just for Zartan
I gotta try that!
Ghost riders bike to from the riders series
I preordered the new GR Hellcycle set. Really looking forward to it.
@@WhysoseriousToys yea I'm stoked for that set too
@@WhysoseriousToys Me too! Grew up with the 90's Danny Ketch Ghost Rider. Finally there's a decent figure of him and the actual bike he rode.
@@Rakerong I just got my copy. It looks really good.
Reeve… not Reeves
So I’ve been told. Thank you for watching.
Would this head fit on DC multiverse DC classics Superman?
This I am not sure. Then listings for these types of head sculpts advertise the products as being compatible with both the 1/12 and 1/10 scale figures. But that doesn’t seem to make sense.
It’s genuinely frustrating that no one makes a simple smiling head sculpt. This superman is almost perfect apart from that
I was thinking that too. Seems like most contemporary Superman figures need to be scowling or agonizing over something. Even the McFarlane Toys Supermans seem to have this issue. It is kind of odd to think one of the most popular Supermans ever - Hush Mafex - is an angry version of a character who was once never known for that.
just need a repaint but the headsculpt is good and matches the Mafex Hush superman - i hope this is also compatible with the Mckenner figures coz their heads are small - cool review
A John Byrne Superman headsculpt would be awesome.
It’d be the perfect one, actually.
You know what I want. I want a head sculpt from superman 3 when he gets drunk and hits peanuts so hard they break perfectly good bottles of rum. That's not nice superman!
It’d be cool to get a another one and add some of that stubble they put on Christoper Reeve in that one. Ha.
Make a video about a Dean Cain head sculpt next!
I’ll think about it…. Ha.
Do you trust buying these head sculpts from Ebay vendors from China? Great video
I ordered a couple more head sculpts that I haven’t tried out yet so the jury is still out. As far as aesthetics is concerned, though, the head sculpts are good to really good (and pricey). It’s the mechanics of the sculpts and whether or not they’re compatible with certain brands that is the real issue. I’d say it’s worth trying out one of the cheaper options to start out with.
That looks good the best way to fix that is pull out that piece. Get some reason cure it with the UV light and then drill a hole for the peg. that’s how I fix my head. Sculpt on different figures.
Thank you! I need to try this.
Make more of these please. I wonder how a Christian Bale head would look on Batman Hush.
An Affleck sculpt would look nuts with the body
@@AshleyWilliams-go5cb I’m liking this…
His name was Reeve. Not Reeves. The only man named Reeves who played Superman was George Reeves.
I only used "Reeves" because we're dealing with a bootleg head sculpt here. Kidding. Correction made. Thank you and hope you enjoyed the video!
The skin tones match, cool.
Yes fortunately they match up pretty well.
Great review. Very informative Thanks for your hard work!
Thank you! Much appreciated.
the scale of bikes for marvel legends is 1:10
Brilliant
Trying to find a good scale motorcycle for my 1/12 terminator action figures
I have some Maisto 1/12 and even 1/10 that I want to try out on my new Mafex Terminator figures. I'll let you know how it turns out.
good show bro
“Look I don’t buy action figures to stage love scenes” 😂😂😂 I stage all kinds of scenes even love scenes HAHA! You’re spot on that if there’s a figure that is really wanted in a collection then that collector would move heaven and earth just to get it, no matter how overpriced it would be. The sale price is definitely worth getting for Batman fans since the Hush series was very iconic in its time (still is in my opinion) Great review!
I can see why people were hesitant, but once this went on sale it was a no-brainer for me. Having said that, I’m a king at buying stuff above retail on the aftermarket. I might kick the tires on the item a bit but I want it, a purchase is inevitable. Ha. Thx for the feedback, as always!
Why are they so small i really want to buy a motorcycle for my ml cap but i cant really find any motorcycle that suitable for his size
Yeah that’s a bummer. Even Maisto seems a bit small for Legends. I recently bought some bikes that I’m going to try out on Legends and other brands of figures. One brand of bike that was promising is MSZ Speed Zone 1/12 scale. Granted, it’s a racing bike so I’m not sure if the ML Cap had the head articulation for it. But the scaling was good. I plan to report on what I found soon.
@@WhysoseriousToysI think one motorcycle thats kinda suitable for action figure tamiya motorcycle but they’re are abit expensive
Great review, especially the backdrops.
Thanks, man!
Fantastic review
Only one is scaled for Marvel legends because legends are a little over sized
What size does fit for shf kamen rider figure?..1/12..ok?
1/12 scales well.
Hello there. I actually purchased some bikes made specifically for 1/12 Kamen Riders. I noticed these bikes tend to be a bit smaller than other 1/12 scale bikes. On a related note, some 1/12 figures like Black Series tend to be too big for these bikes. I hope to do a video on this soon.
What a video production. Everything is remarkable. Thx for this aesthetic approach on bruce lee figures.
Thank you! I really appreciate the positive feedback!
I got both of mine from Macy’s online. Not about to pay $35 to $55 for a figure that just came out at retail.
Totally feel ya.
Keep them coming. thanks.
No, thank you. I plan to do a lot more videos for this channel including videos focusing on vehicles. I really appreciate your support and enthusiasm for my content.
Nice video. I also have a few bikes I've found to fit different figures but I would like to suggest that you consider one important aspect: Marvel Legends or Classified figures are NOT really 1:12. They skew a bit larger. If you compare them to those naked bodies they sell for customizers, you can see the difference. Your Cobra trooper looked nice on that bike but he was a bit too big. I just fudge my photos playing around with the angles but these 1:12 bikes are awesome accessories!
Thanks for the kind words. I considered mentioning how the Cobra trooper appears a big large in proportion to the Aoshima bike but then I did more research on this type of bike and I discovered they tend to run smaller in real life, so I was fine with it. All in all, I’m fine with the fit of Hasbro 1:12 figures on the Aoshima. Though I am aware that Hasbro Joe and Legends 1/12 figures tend to skew large. When it comes to toy bikes I’m always more concerned with the awkwardness of a figure facing downwards towards the gas tank. That’s always a dealbreaker for me! It’s getting to the point where I only want figures with good up/down head movement. Thanks for your feedback!
@@WhysoseriousToys my fave in the collection is my Yamaha Travertson V-Rex 1/12 - I have the red version and Mezco Harley sits pretty on that one 🤩
Oooh gotta look into that!
The actual Hasbro produced Marvel Legends bikes always seem too big. Except for the GIJoe classified RAM, which seems a touch small. The best detailed and best scaling I have are Maisto. With the runner up being New Ray. Although New Rays scale can be inconsistent. The easiest way to tell is simply to look at the size. 1/12 scale means 1 inch = 1 foot.
@@andrewtaylor940 Going to look into NewRay.
I love when you incorporate comic/movie history and commentary, it’s great insight and an overall added value to the review, great video bro!
Thanks, man. Feedback like this makes it all worth it. I personally enjoy doing reviews in this style more than straight reviews but it makes all the difference knowing you guys are enjoying them as well. I have more coming down the pike!
Exellent review! Almost makes me want to get it. Almost.
Fuuck scalpers. Kids dont even buy action figures anymore. Its all about money.

great vid and a nice recap on the knightfall story line
Thank you. I truly appreciate it.
The face sculpt is excellent.

HaHa. Thx, man!
BTW: for those of you interested in a good Mezco 1/12 Collective Destro review check out the Tak Tak Toys with Film review: youtube.com/@Taktaktoyswithfilm
Ahhh you got him! I'm stoked about the Ultimates line admittedly for pure nostalgia. I scooped up wave 1 & 2 on sale but the paint apps on the 2nd wave for Flint & Lady Jaye are wack on the heads. I mean they're "ok" quality but not for the Ultimates price point. Just cause I love the cartoon, I justified shelling out for these. Can't wait for the Mezco review haha! It's too expensive and I'm into too many things right now so can't go in on that line. Maybe your review will change my mind though LOL
I was originally going to go all in with the Super7 line but then I went deeper than planned with the Classified line so...ha. Like you said, these Ultimates aren't cheap! You have to pick and choose or wait for a sale. Though I haven't hesitated when it comes to certain characters, like Cobra Commander & Destro -- and the newly announced Major Blood!! Aside from the nostalgia, I actually like the cartoon aesthetic of these Ultimates, but I know it's not for everyone. Sucks about all the QC issues though! I still haven't gotten Flint. The Duke was actually really good! Planning to do more of these, and a "vs" vid between Super7 Destro and the Mezco 1/12 Collective.
@@WhysoseriousToys Oh heck yea! That MB in Wave 5 looks so sick! All the Cobra figures look so much better than the Joe's IMO.. but Imagine army building Cobra Ultimates LOL. looking forward to the comparisons, keep up the good work bro!
Are you thinking of getting The SDCC Red Baron WhySoSeriousToys?
Are you referring to the Red Baroness/Rednok? If so, I’m not sure. I just got the blue version (it’s great but has a loose waist!) and I preordered the black costume version as well. So I’m on the fence. Are you picking that one up?
@@WhysoseriousToys Red Baroness and the Red Jackal (Destro repaint)
@@WhysoseriousToys I was tempted but they are out of scale with my Classified collection
@@TAKTAK_Toys Agreed, I really only get a few Super7’s here and there. Even the GI Joes, I really need to like the character, mainly for the reason you mention - scale. If the Red Jackal ever hits stateside, though, that’s a pickup.
I didn’t get this one for it’s representation specifically as Knightfall Batman, just a good ‘80’s Batman
I can totally see that. I’ve made my peace with the figure as being a nice version of the blue & grey Batman that I grew up with. But McFarlane Toys did slap the Knightfall label on there so I had to take that into account.
i’m not really into collecting action figures, but i previously got this along with tim drake hush robin to pair. great review man excited to get mine 👍
It’s a nice action figure. You’re going to enjoy it.
I like this one because of the scale, proportions, which is odd for mcfartlane and that it's a great version of the 70's battyman 😂
Haha. I agree, McFarlane Toys releases some bizarre looking figures that it boggles the mind. Though they do manage to come up with some really nice sculpts here and there. The Black Manta Page Puncher, for example, was excellent.
This Mcfarlane Knightfall is the best Batman and also better than the soon coming Mafex Knightfall Batman! 😉👍🏻🔝👌🏻🏆
We might want to wait for the Mafex version to drop first, no? Honestly, I’m not entirely sure this McFarlane Toys Knightfall Batman can even be considered as such. The more I think of it, the more it might just be McFarlane Toys’ take on the blue & grey version of Batman. The sculpt is too realistic-it evokes a real man rather than a comic book character, which is fine. It’s a good action figure… Appreciate your opinion. Thanks for commenting.
@@WhysoseriousToys Thank you... but I don't think is necessary wait the Mafex. Because on pics we can see it. And don't like the cape and also not his heads.... but ok: again is this just my opinion... sorry my english, I'm from Brazil and speak not so good english... hope you can understand...😉👍🏻
@@gargermaxpower2408 Totally understand you. I do agree, too, that the Mafex might not be for everyone.
I wish Figuarts would make a version of this Batman.
Is not necessary!
@@gargermaxpower2408 i like figuarts but don’t kid yourself, none of these toys are necessary. I respect your opinion no one asked for.
Agreed. I’d love to see Figuarts version of the Knightfall Batman.
Makes me want to go back and read the comic book again.
It’s definitely worth dusting off and checking out again.
