Was on a flight from LAS to DFW on an A321 and we did a TO/GA takeoff, was about 12 seconds from spool up to liftoff

Concorde engines were a delight to work on in the R&D phase many years ago👌

I love hearing these immensely 'chaotic' and 'violent' (I can't think of better words to describe the inside of a jet engine at full tilt) machines doing something that feels like it should be impossible and propelling hundreds of thousands of tonnes into the air. I also find it strangely fascinating to see relativity in action as the aircraft leaves the ground.

I'm guessing that this guy was a former fighter pilot.😮😅

Had read about concorde engine turbine on intake. It was 6500 rpm. The embraer 170 fanblade was same speed however the erj 170 was turbofan and concorde engine was turbojet. The cabin is also simular to s concorde and engine goes same speed so the embraer 170 would typically be a subsonic wing mounted engine swept back wing concorde.

Does anybody know the name of this captain? He has a very distinct style with his elevator inputs. I have seen a couple videos of his flying before. Very direct positive control inputs.

I'm not saying it's an easy approach, but from the cockpit view it looks much more straightforward than the outside views lead us to believe. Much better sight line of the runway than I expected. Looked like 700' per minute until he crossed the road and then around 900 -1000' per minute. Steep, but not crazy steep. Making the exit was badass though even with reverse thrust. If the pilot wasn't trying to make the exit (I'm sure it's a requirement when other pilots are watching) he could have had a more normal approach and just landed longer since that plane stops in under 500'. I would think that smaller planes like a 172 or Cherokee should really have no issue landing here. I'd like to give it a go someday. A few low passes should get you ready.

Once was on the tarmac at JFK Bound for LA and looked outside, there was Air France Concorde ready for takeoff, didn’t manage to film it though. Flew the A380 recently Manchester to Manilla and was smoothest plane I ever flew.
