✅ Chess videos for busy adults! Our content is aimed at adult improvers and tournament players rated below 1500 who are serious about improvement but have limited study time. We focus on games between amateurs, which we believe are more instructive and practical than GM games. Our goal is to feature themes, positions, and common mistakes you will ACTUALLY encounter!
The f4-idea in the London System
This video explores the f4-idea for White in the London System, which keeps an iron grip on e5. White delays Nf3 to play f4 first, or he can play Nf3-e5 and then f4. With this variation, Black often has difficulty finding a plan.

The Queen's Indian Trap for Club-Level Chess Players
มุมมอง 35214 วันที่ผ่านมา
There's an important trap in the main line of the Queen's Indian Defense that many club players are not familiar with. In this game, my 1800 opponent almost fell for it. This Queen's Indian idea WILL come up in your games at some point. 🎯 Our Links: Website: www.lichessclub.com Twitter/X: lichessclub Facebook: groups/lichessclub Podcast (TH-cam): www.youtube.com/@theche...
Critical Chess Thinking at the Club Level
มุมมอง 279หลายเดือนก่อน
This video features an "exchange-sequence" position that appears frequently at the club level. Very often it's not about how much chess theory you know but how well you analyze. In worse positions, these decisions are often the difference between drawing and and losing. 🎯 Our Links: Website: www.lichessclub.com Twitter/X: lichessclub Facebook: groups/lichessclub Podcast...
The French Exchange for Club Players
มุมมอง 224หลายเดือนก่อน
The exchange variation of the French defense is quite common at the amateur level. This video takes you through the basics in an easy-to-understand fashion. We focus on a simple but effective idea for Black based on ...Ne7 and ...Bf5. 🎯 Our Links: Website: www.lichessclub.com Twitter/X: lichessclub Facebook: groups/lichessclub Podcast (TH-cam): www.youtube.com/@thechess...
When to Trade Queens!
มุมมอง 882 หลายเดือนก่อน
Queen trading scenarios are consistently misplayed at the amateur level. Many trade Queens when they shouldn't, or refuse to trade Queens when they should. It's usually because of poor/inadequate analysis and failure to notice a hidden tactical possibility. Some players refuse to trade Queens because they like to attack, even though doing so would give them a winning middlegame or endgame! This...
Trapped Piece Tactics
มุมมอง 323 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video explores two positions involving trapped pieces. These opportunities occur frequently in amateur chess tournaments. Spotting them is an essential skill. Nice idea with f3 very nicely explained!
thank you ..
Great opening video. I have a hand tonight and was looking to brush up on the QI. Hopefully he'll go for it! Oh, get yourself in bluesky, start gathering a following on there before the big guys do and it's harder!
Thanks!
Interesting! Would have been nice to hear what the time control was, and how much time you had left before bishop takes knight was a thing. I have 90+30 in Hungary with 30 minutes added after move 40. That is usually enough time for me to find in-between moves like that. Cheers!
Thx for the comment. It was G/90;d10 which is our standard club control. This was a mix of fatigue playing at night and also time pressure. I couldn't calculate with a foggy brain if the pawn could Queen after BxN (after the trade, the King JUST makes it it time to capture the pawn, but it's tricky to see from the initial position) hence the Queen trade.
for black i play the caro which is very similar to french but in the french (closed positions) the light squared bishop is often quite bad yet in the closed caro you can develop it outside the structure. i was wondering if the caro kann is a better version of the french and why you play the french once again love everything you do
just to clarify when i say closed positions i am refering to the advanced
Caro-Kann is a solid opening, but I never got into it. I started playing the French many years ago and had success with it after struggling with 1...e5 openings and the Sicilian. I never looked back. A lot of club players don't play well against the French as White.
at 3:06 in the video black instead of playing bh7 he should have played nc7 covering the a6 square and moving out of the fork, correct me if im wrong...
yes you would lose the c6 pawn but isnt that better than a rook for a bishop ?
@@TheoChoueiri Yes, but after 13...Nc7, 14. Rxc3 White is up a pawn AND has a winning position because of the pressure on the c-file and the c7 square. His 13...Bh7 was best (or 13...Bg6).
@@LongIslandCC i appreciate the response
love the channel and the pod 🥳🥳
Thanks!
