Better to ask than to assume.
Asking the Right Questions Leads to Better Decisions
You know, sometimes, it's better to ask than to guess. A recent client’s experience shows how much you can gain by doing this.
He was interested in a new flat in one of our projects but wasn't sure if he should sell his current apartment right away. Someone offered him a good price, but the new flat wouldn't be ready for about a year and a half. If he took the deal, he'd need to rent a place in the meantime.
So, he came to me for advice. I suggested something simple: "Why don't you ask the buyer if they'd be okay with you handing over the apartment after a year? And if that doesn't work for them, you could offer to pay them rent for that period."
It worked out perfectly. He sold his apartment at a good price, bought the new flat, and even benefited from the appreciation of the new property.
This story shows how we sometimes hold back from asking questions, thinking we already know the answer or worrying about what the other person might say. Most of the time, just asking can lead to better outcomes than we expect.
So, the next time you're faced with a decision, don’t make assumptions about what others are thinking or what they'll agree to. Just ask. You might be surprised at the opportunities that open up.
In the end, making the right decisions often comes down to asking the right questions.
