According to the Bible, the lineage of the Jews begins with Abraham, who is called by God from Ur of the Chaldeans in Mesopotamia (Genesis 11:31-32). The Israelites' journey to Egypt is well-documented in the book of Exodus, where they were enslaved for 400 years (Exodus 12:40-41). After their deliverance, Moses led the Israelites to the promised land of Canaan, where they established the tribes, including the tribe of Judah and eventually the kingdom of Israel (Joshua 1:2-4). King Solomon, the son of David, built the First Temple in Jerusalem, which became a central place of worship for the Jewish people (1 Kings 6:1-38). The Jewish diaspora began after the destruction of the First Temple by the Babylonians and continued with the Roman destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. The Jewish people have since spread across the world, including communities in Yemen and throughout Europe. The Bible also emphasizes the common heritage and shared roots of all people, and it teaches us to seek peace and understanding.
