I wouldn't be surprised if Mix Party got replaced with Dance Party 3, the pad design is really similar and I think the UM6578 might've gotten phased out sometime in the early 2000s as it seemingly completely died off after VRT chips became more popular. As far as I can tell Mix Party 3 is the same dance game as Mix Party 2 with the 3 bonus games added

I'm assuming that the one in the video you posted is Mix Party 3, and until it's proven otherwise I'm going to assume that Mix Party 2 and 3 both use the same 2nd Remix game. There are pictures from Computex 2000 that show Mix Party 2 running, but the camera's shutter speed makes it impossible to see the logo.

It appears to be cut from the same cloth as Inventor's Street Dance demo from 2000, using the same music. Nice Code made the 2008 version that replaced all of it with sampled music. afaik the 2000 version didn't actually release

@@pyritev yeah, I know that. I meant the gameplay, where the circles move towards one of six holes and you have to press the button when they align. It’s probably a coincidence but it just reminded me of it

@@pyritev if I remembered the name I would have mentioned it. It wasn’t too much of a rhythm game, only one circle on screen at the time with nicecodecore ‘music’, and it was really buggy and weird-looking. Typical nice code brainrot

but if you're not messing and want a more technical explanation: This game was made for the VR Technology VT369. It's an enhanced NES-on-a-chip with souped up graphical and audio capabilities, to put it simply. VRT previously put out the VT02 and VT03 enhanced NOACs which added more audio channels and an expanded color palette, respectively. The VT369 was used for that official Oregon Trail handheld that released a few years ago, as well as a bunch of mini arcade machine handhelds. Another relatively popular game on this hardware in Jumper, which I have an upload of on my channel. That's a hack of Super Mario Bros., so you couldn't claim that it's a hack of a Genesis game. There's also a version meant for TV consoles, the VT389, that doubles the resolution with the odd side effect of speeding up all of the samples. The Reactor Special Metallic Edition is a well-known specimen that uses that chip. It's also mentioned in the video that this is running in NintendulatorNRS, a version of the Nintendulator NES emulator that's been modified to support obscure enhanced hardware like this. This game was dumped from a real handheld that was sold in stores. VT369 required reverse engineering on the part of the emulator developer, because datasheets were not officually published by VRT like they were for their previous hardware enhancements. (which can be found at vrt (dot) com (dot) tw) I totally understand not knowing about such obscure hardware, but accusing me of lying while not bothering to learn about the thing that's literally mentioned in the title is silly.

@@pyritev Sorry. My default mode is skeptic. There has been Genesis on a chip TV games for over 2 decades. It kind of blows my mind that pirates would go through the trouble to re-invent the wheel. All to achieve genesis looking graphics. Mario has also been ported to Genesis, and everything else under the sun.

I believe it was to bring it closer to parity with competing handheld/plug-and-play chips like the Sunplus SPG293 and Game Boy Advance clones while retaining NES compatibility, since there was already such a massive amount of NES games produced for plug-and-play consoles. These enhanced chips are capable of running in legacy modes, so the same console could feature both enhanced games and standard compatible NES or lesser-enhanced VT02/VT03 games. JungleTac actually made fairly decent use of the hardware (as well as you can for crappy minigames), but Cube Technology mainly leveraged it to make uglified hacks of stolen NES games like we see here. On the whole, NOAC hardware is far more mature than Genesis-on-a-chip hardware. The first known enhanced NOAC, the UMC UM6578, dates back to at least 1998! It was used in some Japanese Bandai Gamepad thing, which appears to have been developed by some ex-Famicom bootleg scene developers. The existing developer support is a pretty massive part of why the hardware was so common, I believe.

vs maxx isn't original anything when it came to jungletac assets. all of their stuff was just rebadged and they occasionally had a couple licensed games that jungletac would develop and later reskin without the license. dreamgear and vs maxx both rebadged stuff from jungletac. if we're being anal, none of these companies are responsible because my friend actually remade the song in famitracker and that's the version being used here lol

this game is an enigma because it doesn't really match nice code's output, but it also doesn't get close to matching the output of another developer that used the same sound engine(?) and samples. it also only appears in game sets alongside nice code games this game and antiquarium also both have vibration support built in like the king fishing

@@pyritev part of me feels it could be ex dragon nice code? or maybe its just the last of dragon's nes work? idk graphics and some animation reminds me of dragon but obviously the driver doesnt match any of theirs used theres also a developer which has the same type of sample compression which made a tennis and ping pong game, not sure if thats the developers you were talking about? however they used the sunsoft engine, so its all over the place
