Exploring the Victorian High Country - Part 2 - Wonnangatta Station
มุมมอง 6002 ปีที่แล้ว
Come with us as we continue our VHC journey, and travel from Kelly's Lane to Wonnangatta Station. We tackle the Zeka Spur Track, all with only basic camera gear!! (Yes....I stuffed up!!) We hope you enjoy.
Exploring the Victorian High Country - Part 1 - Mt Wellington - What else could go wrong?
มุมมอง 4302 ปีที่แล้ว
Join us on Part 1 of our High Country getaway, where I take Hilds to the summit of Mt Wellington, and on to check out Millers Hut.....just like I did with the kids a few weeks prior. However, I made the rookie mistake of leaving the GoPro's at home, along with the other battery for the camera. So, we had to make do with what we had...I wont be so forgetful next time. I hope you enjoy.
Free Camping in Gippsland, Victoria - Mt Wellington - Exploring the Avon Wilderness
มุมมอง 2922 ปีที่แล้ว
Come along for the ride as we explore more of the Avon Wilderness, and travel to the summit of Mt Wellington. All was not as expected, however, and we set up camp at Millers Hut. With Hild's at work, we intended to return a few days later so she could experience the views as well. So what went wrong?

In this episode, the kids and I travel to Mt Wellington and explore Millers Hut. All was not as expected, however, and a repeat trip took a little bit of time to eventuate... This is a little teaser of what is to come in the next week or so.

A quick recap of 2021, followed by a light hearted look at some of the out takes that may or may not have hit the cutting room floor and a bit of humorous banter. Keep an open mind, listen to the dialog, and above all, enjoy. To all, have an awesome Christmas with family and friends, and a safe and happy New Years. Catch ya in '22. Cheers Stu and Hilds
Free Camping in Gippsland, Victoria- Macalister River Area - Solo Camping
มุมมอง 1.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Join me as I travel to the Macalister River Area and spend the night on my first Solo Camp for the Channel. I do my best to keep well away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, and experience some outstanding mountain views, overlooking the Macalister River and the mountains leading to Licola. I certainly hope you enjoy. Cheers, Stu

In this episode, Hildy finally gets some time off work as together we travel to the Angusvale campground on the Mitchell River, I have a another rant, and we explore a little used track to discover where the Wentworth River joins the Mitchell. Hope you enjoy.

Exploring Gippsland, Victoria- The Great Alpine Road
มุมมอง 2.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Come along for the ride as I go over the top and travel The Great Alpine Road from Wangaratta in the North East through to Bairnsdale in Gippsland. Get an insight into the fantastic views to be had from Mt Hotham, as well as a quick look at some of the smaller towns along the way. I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to call in for a catch up with a good mate of mine, who gave me a tour...

Free Camping in Gippsland, Victoria - Tambo River - Exploring East Gippsland
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This week we visit a little free camping area on the Tambo River. Whilst it isn't far from civilisation, it is a peaceful little spot. The track in is 4WD only, with a few minor challenges...nothing too extreme. Unfortunately, we get to see what happens when people don't respect the bush, and these free camp sites. It will regenerate, only if it is allowed to. Hope you enjoy. Cheers, Stu
Free Camping in Gippsland, Victoria- Huggets Crossing- Exploring the Avon Wilderness
มุมมอง 1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Harry tags along in the (mostly) trusty Pathfinder, as we travel to more free camping places on the Avon River. We drive to Huggets Crossing, take in the views from Huggets Lookout, and and then make our way over Pearson's Point, where we take in the spectacular views of Gippsland from the lookout. Check out the Bloopers at the end. Enjoy.

I went down this track today as not far from my place. Got to the first hill and was no way a standard 4x4 was getting through. Was all chewed up where big wheeling rigs have thrashed it making huge divots. Was disappointed why people continue to ruin good tracks. But then again, could be me just being a pussy 😅😂.

I used to go bush, by foot, before the popular ownership of 4 wheel drives. They have essentially buggered so many places, the bush of my youth has disappeared for so many reasons, one of which is drongos in their Toorak tractors.

In regards to the track names and sign posts, I try to include as many as I can, as it annoys me as well when you dont know where the footage is from. Some may say..."Get out there and find them!" ..yes, you can do that, but it is a bloody big country. lol.😂

Really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of thus vid. Can you please explain how you attached the stronger Velcro to the awning? I'm looking at getting the same one and I noticed the Velcro straps it comes with are too flimsy.

    • @stildsadventures25
      @stildsadventures25 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback. As for the awning, it took a little bit of work, however once I had a plan, things went well. Issues I found witht he awning, apart from the crap velcro, was that there was no overhang on the sides. So if you attached the awning walls, there was still a gap. I had an old Awning Wall (Kings) lying around, so i cut it into strips and hemmed on the sewing machine. (I am not a tailor, but I had a crack!) I bought some good quality Velcro from Spotlight, and sewed it onto both sides of the strips of material, so that when attached to the awning, they will secure in a fashion that overlaps. I then sealed the awning where i had sewn the strips with Drizabone dressing. To increase the overhang, i moved the side poles in by about 25mm (i think?). I explain what i did in the vid...at about the 11:30 mark.

@@stildsadventures25 Thanks for the explanation Stu. Great job. Looks way stronger. Have you used the awning in rain yet to see if the over-lap is keeping the water out? Really enjoying your vids 👍🏽
