What about building a flow that automatically fills a custom field on an account once an opp is closed won?
The logic is the same, you'll just need to choose the field you want to update and reference a variable, use a formula, or write in the value you want it to update to.
Your tutorials are so clear and easy to follow. I've been struggling to adapt a flow similar to this to allow a user to create multiple project records to account for recurring work (essentially the same type of project with tasks needs to happen monthly, quarterly, etc.). Have you encountered any similar requirements and solved for this scenario?
Hi Fawn, You could set up a Scheduled Flow to create a project on the first of the month. You'd need a field on an account or an opportunity to filter the records so you weren't creating projects for everybody each month. It could be a picklist value like Recurring Project equals Active or date fields (e.g. contract start and contract end).
Can we add a default selected value for this lookup field?
Yes, you can. It can either be a single record or a collection depending on the record limit you set in the lookup configuration.
Does the following flow works when an object has multiple record type?
Yes it does. We have a video on differentiating by record types if you need to filter some out of your automation.

Loved the project management app video! It was very helpful and easy to follow. We use TaskRay at my company. I like that it's integrated into Salesforce so I don't have to leave our org to manage projects. But you also make a good point about balancing the user costs to make a good decision. thank you for this video. this was a solution for one of my clients. i would point out that i tried using the rich text as a merge field in classic email templates - but the formatting wasn't carrying over. so i ended up creating the email template within the flow via Better Emails from unofficialSF

A third option is to use Formula Evaluates to true(seen at 5:26) then create a formula much like the formula field option {!$Record.RecordType.DeveloperName}='MyRecordtypeName'

Brian, I'm getting an error if the Topic already exists. How do I prevent it to run if a matching Topic exists?

Great question, Bart! You can do a GET first to return a topic assignment record for that topic and record. Follow it with a decision element that ends gracefully if the results of the Get are not NULL. If that GET step didn't find anything, proceed with the flow to create the tropic assignment record. Does that help?

This is a good topic. I'm not sure how to do that. Might need to email the report to Zapier to then add it to OneDrive, or perhaps generate the report in excel through a connector. What have you tried?

I do think this will count against your daily Salesforce email limit of 5000.
How would you report on snapshot data if you wanted to see how many opportunities were in a given stage on a week over week basis? Would you need to create a flow to snapshot opportunities every week? I can't figure out what report type to use here. History doesn't really do the trick, since it excludes opportunities that aren't changing.
Hey, You identified the exact problem with the history report type for this use case. You'll need to create a snapshot report. Custom Object + Flow that runs weekly. You can have the schedule flow run daily and then check if it's a Monday or Friday, etc. and then just end if it's the wrong day.
Another option is to create date fields on the opportunity that automatically update through Flow, when an opportunity goes in and out of a stage. That might be easier than the snapshot report.

What about if I want to go a step further and say the condition is only if the assigned to ID matches the contact owner ID? Essentially making a field that shows "Last Activity from Owner"
That’s a great idea! You can add in a decision element that checks that. It will compare the two ids and if they’re not the same end gracefully.
How can I group the contacts based on account id, I want to show the account name only once and under that I want to keep all related contacts, user shoud be able to select the contacts
That’s not currently possible with the table component. You could potentially show all the contacts from on account on the screen and then click next and loop back to the screen to show a different collection of contacts related to a different account. It’s an interesting challenge.

Hey Rich, without knowing the details of your org, the first question that comes to mind is if you all have a Contact lookup field on your Opportunities. Any chance that's the case? I've seen businesses do this because it's quicker than using Opportunity Contact Roles. The downside is that it limits their ability to add multiple Contacts to an Opportunity.

@@RichHenry-c8h Then the next thing I'd do is run the flow in 'debug' mode and see if you can pinpoint which block is causing the problem. I'd guess it has to do with either the Assignment or Create block for the Contact Roles.

Thanks - you're a great teacher. Look forward to getting this going. I can't get it to work. A key point is that I don't get the choice "use separate resources and literal values" -I just "manual" or "from a record variable". I have the most basic version of Salesforce so may not have the deep ability of the version you're using. Update - I ended creating 7 tasks (upon the triggering task being marked complete) that need to happen to prep for client meeting, starting about 70 days in future, added formula for the date field based on completing initial task " + X" for days in the future, and that worked.

@Rotive I'm trying to track how long sales reps have their opportunities open. Is there a report anyone can recommend that would show me how to track how long does it take an Opportunity to be created to when it is closed (closed-won or closed lost, doesn't matter). I want it to look like this Opportunity Stage Conversion report but instead of the percentages of the converted states, it shows me the duration. I know there's an option to add Age as a Column, but it's not giving me the information I think I want.
Is there a way to display the sum of 2 sum totals from 2 entirely different report types and display it as a number tile on a dashboard?

I cannot stress how stupid it is that there isn't just a related to field in the note creation. This extra step is nonsense, and it makes it more difficult to implement compared to the classic version.
I have to clone a dashboard for multiple markets (say I have to clone a dashboard aimed at France for every country in Europe). This dashboard has about 10 underlying reports with the same filter (i.e. Market equals France). Currently, I'm manually opening every report, editing it and using "Save As" to save it. When I'm done with cloning the reports, I clone the dashboard and change all sources. This is quite time consuming. Question: I'm wondering whether it's possible to clone dashboards and their underlying reports in an efficient way?
