Anwar Shaikh - Real Economic Analysis: A Theoretical and Empirical Alternative to Economic Orthodoxy
In a time of economic questioning, do we really need perfect competition to build models and predict economic phenomena? Anwar Shaikh's book seeks to offer a coherent alternative to neoclassical and post-Keynesian economics. It takes real (and not perfect) competition as its starting point, to then explain theories from all walks of economics, from Keynes's theory of effective demand to Kalecki's interindustry pricing. In a time of slow growth and decreasing productivity in Western Europe, this work comes at a crucial time, offering reconciliation between micro and macro aspects of growth theory.

His intellectual biography appears in the most recent edition of the book Eminent Economists II published by Cambridge University Press (2014) alongside the biographies of seven Nobel Prize Laureates. "..The basic principle of American Foregin Policy - no other country can tell us what to do. We can tell other countries what to do, they cannot tell us what to do and we will not join any agreement in which we don't have a veto power which gives us essentially control of the World Bank, the IMF, or the veto power in the United Nations & any international organisation that the United States will join."

Why does every brilliant person seem to have a looney side. I really appreciate Michael's analysis, yet he's clearly a victim of TDS. Trump has never been close to wanting to 'end civilization' - and on a more petty accusation which I've heard Michael mention in another presentation, neither is he in the habit of defrauding the contractors his company employs. Such silliness does nothing for Michael's credibility.

Je l'admire, Dr. Michael Hudson , pour ses critques et ses analyses faite , ayant une expérience unique de l'intérieur des politiques bancaire et financière ! What I critisize is his policy based view of a non Marxist--Leninist--Zinoviev's point of view of structural nature of anti--socialist , anti--communist aggravated phase of Imperialism and contradictions caused since supe-imperialist that I called neo--imperialist after 1997 S. E. Asian Great World Financial crisis , empoverishing in less than two weeks, , over 14 developing countries , called The Smaller Dragons of The Asian markets surrounding China ! What I had called myself , Neo-Imperialism after 1991-1997 , after deeper researches done for causes of set-backs or faillures to go ahead of The Soviet Union and China pro-socialist camps after 1989--1991 , and seemingly abandonning their primitive persuit of '' so called socialism '' that Lenin and his commerades had called as NEP policy of State--Capitalism between 2022 and 2027 in Russia and it's modifications by Stalin's administration for Nationlization of Land and completion of Electrification and industrial infra--structures and other socialist features added to a welfare state of Soviet Union , followed everywhere else , and aiding China after 1940's and building Chineese Infra--Structures for an industrialized country plus other Mao's features added for large agricultural communes more suitable for China ! Mere calling it then neoliberalism , what even Naomi Kline had exposed in her well documented book of Schock and Awe of neo--fascist imperialism , and Noam Chomsky calling it not even New , Nor Liberal for the term neolibralism , which is not of a Marxist term , but one used by Milton Friedman's Economics followed by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher , and presently known as all right wing globalist doctrine , what was formulated in Washington Consensus about and after 1989 ! And what became the military doctrine of Permanent Wars by G.W. Bush and The Neo-Conserveties' doctrine of neo-imperialists all globalized or concentrated in NATO-G7 bloc after 2008 , facing Russia-CHina aliances of SCO plus , BRICS plus and OPEC plus , a much Vaster Global non-aligned countries' alliances of opposing neo-imperialist-Collonialist domination , actually growing to six billion populations on Earth !

Why would anyone want the largest criminal enterprise on the planet called government dictating food? An institution that has become the very embodiment of insanity itself forever infested with the finest eroded minds and mentalities money can buy. The fact that garbage like this is even an issue gives testament to just how far the government has already gone in overstepping its role. An obese government is far more unhealthy and diseased than an obese civilization. The majority of Americas problems today have been fathered and/or fueled upon the obese fat back of overreaching government. Runaway parasitic government must be eradicated before the entire country collapses underneath the weight of that governments bureaucratic shit and self-serving laws of ignorances. The greatest threat to the American citizenry, country, and constitution comes not by the hand of some foreign enemy or terrorist threat, but by the obese hand of the nations own government. The day the US implodes government will be the cause of it.

As an African it makes me understand things better. How do we produce a significant amount of the earth's resources eg gold, diamonds, platinum (Africa has like half the world's reserves), uranium (Hiroshima bombs were made from our uranium), chrome (Zimbabwe and South Africa own the world's 70% reserves etc), rare earth etc yet we are poor It's because we trade real value things for a pretty abitrarily valued paper which is the USD . They will just keep printing

i have a degree in mathematics, but i didn't actually take a course in economics until i went back to school to complete a second degree in computer science. i started off in physics, so i'm fundamentally empirical in how i interpret reality. i remember having this exact reaction when i first encountered these naive linear models; the idea that this was even remotely useful in reality was instantly realized as laughable. i actually was the person that asked if there was any empirical evidence for any of this, and was at least lucky enough to get a derisive, scornful response that there isn't and that even teaching this nowadays is not just a waste of time but actually harmful. you can call economics something like "speculative philosophy" if you'd like, but it doesn't even pretend to be a science.

Michael Hudson deserves more attention (I get why of course the mainstream econ community doesn't want that) The insights he has and connections he makes, how he ties econ, politics, Intl Relations its just brilliant. Of course this was done pre Putin's invasion I am curious his thoughts on the impact of the alternative bloc he spoke about. Perhaps the plan has been a bit screwed up but does seem like a China & Russia lead alternative bloc was and is still the plan. China brokered a deal between Saudi Arabia & Iran, does feel like a growing counter bloc is forming
