First time catching squid - Squid Fishing
มุมมอง 1.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my first attempt trying for squid on Hastings Pier, Sussex. I spoke to a lot of regular fishermen here and nobody seemed to attempt squid fishing from the shore, whereas over in Brighton they hold huge squid annual competitions. So I thought I'd give it a go. I was short on time with the sun setting at 6pm and the pier's gates closing at 9pm. I've still got a lot to learn and hopefully ...
Insanity with the Ryuki - Mackerel Fishing
มุมมอง 4.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the problems with Mackerel is that they often lurk quite a distance from shallow shingle beaches and it's a struggle to find lures that are heavy enough to be casted and reach the feeding zone, but also small enough that mackerel will actually hit them. Small metal spoons and jigs fit the bill... but if you want to use classic minnow jerkbait lures you will struggle to find any. One prod...
Treasure on Hastings Pier - Plaice Fishing
มุมมอง 7033 ปีที่แล้ว
After several attempts, finally catching my first golden-spotted Plaice. This session was a trial run of an old Sl20Sh I've brought off eBay cleaned and serviced, as well as trying to make my own rigs using an 'IMP' breakaway system to achieve longer casts. Hastings pier does not offer anything that can't be caught from the shore but if you are in a good mood it's an interesting place to fish f...
Mackerel Love Metals! - Mackerel Fishing
มุมมอง 21K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We had a long period of calm weather in Mid-July 2021 that led to ultra-clear blue oceans, water so clear that some Mackerel came in early and dined on very small whitebait fry. Spoons - search 'spoon fishing' on Aliexpress and it's one of the first results, an excellent and cheap metal but the hooks they give you are trash, I ordered loads of the 65mm 13g and I consider this to be the PERFECT ...

Best method for painting a quivertip
มุมมอง 8893 ปีที่แล้ว
Although I am using this on a heavy pike rod, the paints used will work fine on light quivertip rods as acrylic paints are very flexible. All of the paint used in this method is Acrylic, other forms of paint like enamel are not flexible enough and will crack when the tip bends. First step: Masking off the rod rings, try your best to press the tape close as possible to the rod to give a clean ma...

Gravel pit in Spring - Tench Fishing
มุมมอง 3.7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Time to make waves Tench fishing is traditionally a summer sport, but I'd like to try and target them in spring as I want to focus on other species come summer. I haven't caught an adult Tench before so I'm using the most popular and successful rigs. On the quiver rod, I'm using a self-hooking bolt rig - Korum maggot inline feeder and Drennan buoyant red maggots on a Kamasan T911 PTFE size 14 T...

What kind of rod is that and reel? And pound test line 🙏
130 lb sharking rod. 80lb monofilament mainline with 200lb shock leader.
Alosa fallax is a herring-like species (Clupeidae) with an elongated laterally flattened body and a fairly large head with a deep mouth slit that reaches the rear edge of the eye. There are usually one to eight dots on the flank, starting from the head. The species is very similar to the shad and hybridization can occur if the spawning areas of both species overlap. Shad have larger scales (55-65 on the lateral line) compared to the shad (70-86 scales on lateral line). In addition, shad usually only have one dark spot on the flank behind the head. Shad grows to approximately 55 centimeters in length, shad can grow up to 80 centimeters in length.
Where are you fishing in the UK?
Hi What rod and reel is it please?
This one ➡️ 🎣
0:30 slab
What is the setup here
Lovely spot of fishing there. Bee-autiful seabass. You travel light & know your stuff. Greetings from Barcelona 🧜♂️
Why dont you mention the different places you are fishing?
to stop it getting crowded of course. Do you show your hand in poker?
@@omram566 Yes I fully understand that, but Im not talking about marks but it would be nice to know which county they are fishing in. Just say eg. ''Im fishing a mark in Dorset'' or even Kent
@@seafishinggirl I know where it is cos i live there! And even i dont want out of towners fishing here. Clue South England
@@omram566 Like I said just the county would do out of interest, the white cliffs are a very good clue but as I live in North Wales its not like I will be visiting anytime soon
They are not seabass they are just BASS
Annoys the hell out of me too , no such fish in the UK .
@@topfuelteddySea bass - branzino - suzuki are different then....smallmouth/largemouth/black bass😊
@@gogivunka Not in the UK I'm afraid they're just bass .
@@topfuelteddy one species is SALTwater and the other is FRESHwater fish...they can't be the same😐 but hey, nvm just catch them 😛👊🏼
@@gogivunka No freshwater bass in the UK though .
Shameful keeping such small fish…..
Funny /there's a frenzy with the mackerel and as soon as they start taking there's anglers in a frenzy all over the place lines going everywhere lol . Good few catches there for you tho .
Sometimes its good to keep a 5lb one , as my old Grandad used to say ...us,ll have him for din dins....
your videos are much better than others who only really care about the gear. you keep it simple.
dude is this hastings? will have to try out for bass next time i visit. hastings is great. brilliant simple video
ye theres quite a few bass spots around hastings when the sea is clear, but a lot of the time hastings has horrible cloudy water and i would reccommend going more westward for lure fishing
Am I allowed to ask where this is? 😁
Yes you are 👍
Where was this
It’s hasting beach ?
Ye that is as u can see the pier I. The background
As a newcomer to bass and mackerel spinning please could you explain the advantages of using a single hook instead of a treble on the spinners/lures.
when you have a huge number of fish using a large single hook really picks out the specimen sizes, thats pretty much the only reason, when pickings are slim a smaller treble is better
@@weaverflytyer Thank you for your helpful reply Sir. I am much obliged!
Iis this in Devon??
Twaite shad run up the river near where i live ( caught 30 last year) but i never noticed a black spot behind the gill , blue taz is the best lure for them
superb video! Some great action and Twaith Shad, a fish you hardly hear about.
Where I get the lures
Every one sayin mate so this is probably in Australia I take it mate
HA HA
i watch few schools of seabass every day from the port. There are bigger and smaller ones. For the last 2 years, i tried everything, did not catch a single one. Now im using 1.6 sufix invisiline fc and lures without hook. All types of lures and techniques, just no hooks. Just to see if im cursed, but im not, they wont take any lure. And im not some low-iq fisherman, im quite experienced, and at first i was only fishing in murky water with most realistic silicone swimbaits and worms, with additional artificial scent from bottle. I even tried reels with different gears and rods with different action haha. And the funniest thing is, im not even lying haha. They just have to be some college grade seabass haha
Grab yourself a net or a couple of traps, catch yourself some live prawn, the bigger the better, no.4 semicircle book, and a couple of split shot, clear bubble float if you feel like it. Live prawn with very light tackle is the best set-up on the planet for European bass fishing, imho. Tight lines 🍻 🎣
@@KumaBean I do not fish with live bait, my friend is decimating them on bolo technique, but thats not my style, ima spinner
@@i1bike That’s a fair comment and a position that I respect. If I catch a nice size bass I’ll take it home for the table, everything else gets placed back in the water. Every year I see big rows of guys on the piers fishing with feathers, pulling up to six fish a cast, they simply shake the fish off the hooks onto the pier, leaving them to flap around under the hot sun, then cast straight back out and pull another load in. I used to do the same thing when I was a teenager, but I hate seeing it now, no one needs to take that many fish in one day, so for mackerel I just use a spinner now, it’s more fun too on a tiny (tiny!) rod 🙂 🎣
@@KumaBean Any kind of bait is broken. So spinning with lures is just a good fun, basically playing. Thru life, i came to state of mind that i will release everything. My whole life im in fishing. Whole childhood i was throwing nets with grandpa, throwing daily longlines for breams and nightly longlines for congers. Ive caught so many fish, i was exterminating the sea. And the result is that today i need miracles to catch anything on spin. Unfortunately, these are some horrifying facts, my close cousin works for one fishing family in neighbor village. They have 8 boats, and they will from 1.of june up to september start catching little fish like sardines, mackerels, anchovies, scads. Everyday their everyboat catches aprox 40 baskets. And this is just village near me. They exterminated inshore fish population. Cuz i see other people that still use nets likr i did, but they are catching nothing. Listen this, i pay yearly licence of 70 euros to fish wizh basic equipment, and second year in a row i can not repay it from fish that i caught. Lucily, i do repay it with cuttlefish and squids, but with fish, no. Sorry for a novel of a comment, im from south croatia and i get so frustrated when someone mentiones fish to me, so i cant control my emotions haha
@@i1bike Lol, it’s all good Brother, fish stocks aren’t what they used to be around here either, Channel Islands 🤝

What reel diawa?

Hastings beach
We’re did you get that little case m8
manufactured by meiho, sometimes sold under a large number of brands like ima
hey, what rod do you use ? it would be good if you could make video about your gear :)
I can't remember exactly, it's a diawa,... 5-25 grams, can cast pretty well.
That was a twaite shad that got off!
Why take such small fish?
It was a spotted seabass. (Dicentrarchus punctatus) they jump a lot and usually run towards you. Reel quick.
Location 😮
what weight black minnow?
Which place is this ?
Its a lovely tourist town in west sussex the rest youll have to figure out yourself. Nice vid but be lovely to have a bit more info not on the location but rod weights the lures etc
I go light, using 10-25g rod and 15lb braid
@@weaverflytyer You are a wrong un for not just giving out some basic location info like what part of the UK (if it is the UK) so novices can get an understanding of what times of year to fish around the isles etc. Not your specific marks just the basics. If you just want to show off well done enjoy your achievements. It is folk like you that put parents and kids off fishing.
@@jedfra9172 "It is folk like you that put parents and kids off fishing." - If you get put off that easily, then maybe fishing isn't for you. You can catch bass at any pebble beach, rock mark or tidal estuary along the coast of England. Beaches that step down in shelves are usually the most productive, because the bass hunt laterally behind the shelves. You can also catch bass at any time of year, although May - September is usually the most productive time. You can see this video was uploaded in September, so that gives you a clue as to when he was fishing.
Legal keep size varies around the coast. Its 20cm in Pembrokeshire. Some of them did look very small mind.
Lovely video, tks mate.
