Interesting Amadeus factoid: Schaffer based his play's rivalry on a one-act by the great Russian poet Pushkin which ends as Salieri poisons Mozart. Salieri's monologue in the film about his frustrated longing to be a musical genius is drawn almost word for word from the Pushkin.

Liked your list. My top Int'l flicks are the 2 part "Jean de Lorette" + "Manon of the Spring". Secondly, the Italian 70s flick "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion".

Nice Guys is great, I've watched 3 times so far.

Galaxy Quest is not funny nor entertaining. If anything it's overrated because it's not worth watching.

What spoiled Date Night for me was Bateman's oscillating wound, which seemed to have him bleeding out one minute and good to go at others. Otherwise, there was plenty to laugh at.

Galaxy Quest was a very funny but friendly satire of Star Trek. Some Trekkies may have been offended, while anti-Trekkies were probably turned of by the theme.

I think Night of the Living Dead (1968) is another one that should be on the list. It is no holds barred. I think before it, horror movies were usually expected to have a happy ending.

I am 55 and Bill Murray was never funny. His movies I avoided. I gave uo on Hollywood. My wife and I tried a couple movies in theatres, but 90s to present hollywood has fizzled out. All the movies have the similar plots and storylines. Watching a new movie has no surprises and I can predict the ending.

Kingpin, Walk Hard and the Nice Guys are really good suggestions (not coincidentally they are in my DVD collection). But I would also have added the Farrelly Brothers, The Three Stooges especially if you love slapstick. I think Hot Shots 1 and 2 (and 2 is surprisingly better than 1) was greatly under rated.

Why is that surprising? Any list of best films is going to be heavily biased towards the US…as it should be. Im Australian but my list of the top 10/ 20/ 50..whatever would be mostly US.

I would argue The Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson and made in New Zealand. While paid for by an American studio, it is a New Zealand film that greatly influenced worldwide film making.
