The scene that really angered me was when Novolee's mother, who abandoned her when she was 5 years old shows up, Novolee really believed she really cared and changed. "WRONG"! It just hit me when Novolee showed her mom the 500.00 that the president of Walmart donated to her to help her out, red flags just rose up! But she really believe her mom changed. But when she doesn't show up to pick her and Americus up like she promised, I felt really angered. Her mother hasn't changed one bit! No wonder Novolee hates the number 5. Reminds you of some family members and relatives that stole from you, huh, and not giving a care in the world. That's what makes them trash as Lexi said later. That scene really mad me upset and sad.

This is the most degrading movie I've ever came across. Calling a little alien just because of the color of her skin. You want to get technical? In reality white people are the aliens. You come from Europe on a boat. It's a disgrace.😮

This movie just makes me feel damn good. I watched it several times. The simple straightforward humanity, the warm characters, naturalism, and traditional values all revealed within a (mostly) relaxed, slow-paced environment are so soothing. With the exception of the rascal at the beginning, these people are soulful and solid. Sad that everyday reality is a far cry from what the movie has shown.

This is such a good classic movie! I watched it yesterday. This was his favorite of mine when I was a kid. So I decided I wanted to watch it again today. I miss movies like this. Guys, I got her pregnant and left her at that Walmart is a POS. he could have at least left or was more than $10 since he was planning on leaving stranded, didn’t even take out a suitcase SMDH!

I love this movie! I remember buying this movie in the store. A down on her luck girl just trying to make a life for herself, putting up with her loser boyfriend who is a total jerk. Worst she doesn't like the number 5, for it brought her nothing but bad luck. All along the film it tells ya why she hates the number 5. Worst, she is pregnant and her boyfriend abandoned her at a Walmart in Oklahoma. Scumbag! But it will change her life forever, with strangers she meets who becomes her surrogate family. I like when Moses suggested to Novolee that she should give her baby a good strong name. A name that means something. Whenever I meet a woman who is expecting, I think about this movie and I would tell them to give their baby a name that means something. Great movie.
