One of the first songs I wrote about my journey with cancer. In the fall of 2023 I had to isolate during my chemotherapy treatments and spent 100 days alone with my cat Aurora. As I progressively got weaker and weaker as the months rolled by, in my attempts to keep somewhat sane and try to find the inspiration to keep fighting against seemingly overwhelming odds I turned to music. Sometimes the support we need to get through our darkest hours comes from the unlikeliest places. One of my strongest supporters turned out to be someone in California that I only knew through a Facebook group about cars. That she would be so kind and selfless impacted me to such a great extent that I commemorated her in one of my first songs.
The idea for the song came after a conversation with her. She was telling me how cold it was in California while I was looking out my window at a snowstorm where the temperature was going to hit the -20s overnight. I thought how I would be more than willing to trade cold in Alberta for cold in California.
