Hi Sasha, this is amazing, but I would like to make the large version. Do you mind explaining just the top knots on that one?
Hi Yulia, yes, of course! The top portion of the large piece are two rows of square knots. First row is a spiral consisting of three half square knots and the second is just a regular square knot. I hope this helps, but let me know if that doesn't make sense.
@ That makes sense. I’ll try it. And do you have 3 thin dowels throughout that piece or are they just straight lines made with half-hitch knots?
@@yuliamirzoyan4853 I suggest you use the 3 thin dowels. The lines of half-hitch knots will be straighter and they will give more structural support for your hanging. But you can just have straight lines if you want to. I would love to see your piece when it's finished. If you have Instagram or Facebook account, please tag me :)
Oh, forgot to mention that the large piece uses different base/skeleton cord. Because the piece is larger it needs more structure so you will want to use a 5mm twisted rope not a single strand cord.
👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
hey I've been checking on total cotton natural rope for this whole project and its abiut 235 meter? are u sure this project is need that huge amout of the natural rope? can you comfirm that
Hi, thank you for reaching out. No, this is a small project so you will need about 24 meters. I suggest you get a bit more than that, just in case.

@fibersofmine maybe not a massive one, but I think it does need some. It looks great with the pin.

I made this last year as my first macrame project! It's not perfect but I loved all of the details in making this.
That is great to hear! I am glad you enjoyed creating this hanging 🙂
Wow so beautiful ! Many thanks for the credits! Your video is very well made and the making from the back is your clever contribution for the knot itself I like it !!! Well many thanks many congrats and best wishes (my book is published now)
Hei..may i know the length of the dowel used pls ❤ and thank you so much for this tutorial
Hi, The dowels I used were 48 inches in length. You can also find the materials listed in the description. Hope this helps :)
Bello!
Thank you for starting off slow. I am going to try doing this.
I realize that is an older video, but I just started taking up macrame and I'm so happy I found your channel. I followed your directions and was able to make a beautiful hanging. I actually entered it in an art gallery Folk & Fiber Show and won second place! I was very surprised as this was my first actual piece of macrame that I felt comfortable entering in a show. Thank you so much for your generous time that you take to teach others the joy of macrame.
This is so great to hear, Jeanne! I'm glad my video helped you to create a beautiful piece of your own. I would love to see it. If you have Instagram account or Facebook, would you please tag me @fibersofmine so I can take a look? Thank you for sharing this with me. 🤗☺

Macrame adding more chord
I just found this beautiful piece and have to make it. Do you have kits for the colored cord in your shop?
new subscriber here 🙋🏻 so generous of you. 🌻💙
Your detailed instructions and tips are very helpful for beginners like me. Does dyeing the cord with RIT liquid dye, change the quality of the strands?
Hi Mike, It will change the cord. The strands will separate and become more "fluffy" and "wrinkled" for the lack of better words. So your cord won't be as tight as before. You still can work with the cord but the texture will be different. Also the color won't penetrate through all the strands, so when you brush our the fringe you will see some color variation which creates an interesting effect. It all depends on what you are going for. I would say, absolutely experiment with dying your own cord. I believe in learning by experience. You will definitely figure out what works for you that way. Good luck! And share what you learned :)
@@fibersofmine Thanks Sasha for your expert advice. I don’t want to mess up this macrame wall hanging, since it’s going to be a special gift. I’ve decided to purchase your recommend macrame cord, instead of dying my cord on the cheap. Thanks again for replying.
@@mikemanges Or course! You are welcome :) I think it's a better option in any case. I don't get any benefits from the companies/shops that sell cord, but unless you are going for a certain look in your work, the commercial cord is actually a cheaper option. If you calculate the cost of the dye, your time, mistakes you make while learning and not getting the results you want, doing it again and again, it might end up not as cheap as you think to dye your own cord. Although, you will learn a lot, and that worth something :)

❤ LINDO 😍❤️
How much cord in total please for this bag
I used 225 feet of 4mm single strand cord for this project. Please check the description, I list how long each cord should be. Hope this helps :)
This simplifies this for me and I wondered why my knots was a mess I have been using the lead cord to wrap around this is amazing
Thank you, Janet! I am happy that this tutorial was helpful :)
Muy buena explicación!!
Lindo!!! 👏👏😍😍
When I look at your actual piece, where you have tied the vertical colors. Some seem to be tied around 2 cords, and some colors are tied around 3 vertical cords. Is there a pattern to this? Does it just work out this way. Can you give me some guidance? Thank you .
Hi Suzy, Thank you for reaching out! I used 44 cords in my piece, In order to have 4 equal color section most of the groupings are in three, but I had to use some groupings of two to make it work. Those groupings of two are under the darkest blue color. Depending on how wide your piece is, you might need to figure out your own groupings so the hanging doesn't come out of balanced. I hope this helps :) .
Hi Sasha, thank you so much for the video! From the list you posted it's not clear to me how much total of 3mm natural single-strand cord I need and how much of each of the colors. Thanks
Hi Clarisa. This is a pretty small piece and I used about 100 feet of each. But every project and every maker is different so you might need a bit less or more. I always suggest to get more than you think you would need, just to be on the safe side. I hope this helps. :)
Thanks!
Thankyou beautiful sasha
You are very welcome! 🥰
