Thai Ketogenic Restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand - ร้านกระเพราสำหรับคนชอบกินเผ็ด (Spicy Basil Shop)
This is one of our favorite places to safely eat in Chiang Mai. Often times, eating out in Thailand will result in the consumption of sugars, MSG, other mystery ingredients, and worst of all, heavily processed vegetable oils. That is a big no-no for us and is why we LOVE ร้านกระเพราสำหรับคนชอบกินเผ็ด, because they have ketogenic options cooked in coconut oil, no sugar, no MSG, no funny business. It's also a perfect place to eat if you want real authentic Thai food. Sometimes being keto/carnivore in Thailand, you're forced to cook your own meals and oftentimes skipping the local Thai food, which can be a bummer. This is not the case for this place. You can have the best of both worlds here-low carb clean keto and real Thai cuisine.
The keto menu is in Thai and might seems little intimidating to those who cannot read Thai, but don't worry! If you don't have a Thai friend to join you, the staff will happily help you with your order. Just be sure to tell them you want keto.
This is an absolute must-visit place in Chiang Mai, whether you are keto or not. Another fun little fact, this shop was visited by Anthony Bourdain during his time in Southeast Asia.
Give them a visit!

Low Carb Keto & Carnivore Breakfast in Chiang Mai, Thailand - SS1254372 Cafe
มุมมอง 8954 ปีที่แล้ว
Just after everything began to reopen in May 2020, we decided to have breakfast at one of our favorite cafes in Chiang Mai. SS1254372 Cafe (or SS Cafe) is a healthy, clean food focused cafe with a very relaxed, casual atmosphere. The staff here are always kind and friendly, and the food is never a disappointment. Being keto/carnivore, it's easiest for us to order off the Optional Added Sides me...
Samoeng Camp Trip - Keto Carnivore Camping Mini Vlog in Northern Thailand
มุมมอง 3304 ปีที่แล้ว
This was a quick and simple camp trip with some friends starting out in Chiang Mai, where we all live. Samoeng is only about an hour or so away, so it's easy to just hop on a bicycle (like @sikegame) or motorbike and scoot over there in no time. The trip is pretty scenic, with several mountain and forest view points. There's cafes and plenty of food along the way, but I have different plans in ...
Lamb Leg, Duck Eggs & An Evening Stroll Through Wat Umong in Chiang Mai - Keto Carnivore Mini Vlog
มุมมอง 1094 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm still trying to learn to make videos so bare with me! This one is somewhat of a mini vlog, I guess. I'm cooking a small piece of lamb leg from Rimping. You can find a few different cuts of affordable Australian or New Zealand lamb in most Rimping supermarkets. Also cooking duck eggs, which I eat on a daily basis. I prefer them over chicken egg, as you'll see why in the video. Duck eggs are ...
Quick & Simple Keto Carnivore Grocery Haul from Thai Supermarkets, Makro & Rimping - Beef Fat & More
มุมมอง 1854 ปีที่แล้ว
Made a quick stop at Makro and Rimping on the way home the other day and thought I'd share just a few basic items you can find in these Thai supermarkets. The beef selection is not so great lately due to the lockdown in Thailand. Seem like everyone's buying up all the good Australian and New Zealand beef. Thai beef is alright, just not the best quality and not my favorite. Makros are available ...
Cooking Striploin Steak on Induction Cooker - A Meaty Love Story
มุมมอง 22K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm not a huge fan of Thai beef, so I'm cooking a super fatty Australian striploin at home in my Chiang Mai kitchen. Grassfed Australian striploin from Makro with garlic, rosemary, all cooked in real butter. A typical keto and carnivore steak anyone can make, even if limited to a simple induction cooker and basic pan. I cook and eat at least one of these every day and life totally kicks ass bec...
Fried Duck Eggs in Beef Tallow - A Simple Keto Carnivore Breakfast
มุมมอง 2.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Duck eggs in Thailand are awesome. Most are free-range, organic, from happy ducks and always have a rich orange color and deep creamy taste. This is a standard breakfast I often cook in Chiang Mai. Duck eggs are available at Aggie Hut, some Royal Project shops, and some Rimping supermarkets. Beef fat can be found in most butcher shops, as well as most supermarkets. Check with the meat dept. of ...

    Terrible!! Butter burns, at it in the end. Don’t need so much fat, there’s a huge piece of fat cap on the steak, use that first to oil the pan. No need to rest for 1 hour as steak will become too salty. Season and into a hot pan. This is a waste of time watching this video.

    • @meatyeatythailand844
      @meatyeatythailand844 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aside from your rotten attitude, I appreciate the criticism! Fair point on butter, the video's outdated. Ideally add butter towards the end after flipping steak and baste. However, I disagree with the rest. Fat = flavor-town. Salt resting 45min-1h = tender steak. Too salty? Ease up on salt... Give it a try, buddy. Cheers!

      Ah, I appreciate you dedicating even more of your valuable time considering you thought my video was a waste of your time. I'm starting to think you did like it! You know, you could try the salt-rested steak while we chat. I'm sure you'll change your mind then :) Anyways, don't take random TH-cam videos so seriously, there's a real life out there you can go enjoy. And thanks again for your critique, I will continue to try and improve my steak cooking. I might make a new one just for you, Mr Mr buddy ;)

    Don't forget to rest the meat after frying it for about 5 minutes. Also, you can start with oil for the sear/char before butter to avoid smoking.

    • @meatyeatythailand844

    How thick is the steak? What doneness and how long did you cook it for? Thanks!

    • @meatyeatythailand844
      @meatyeatythailand844 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. This was a pretty thin steak, maybe like 2-2.5cm (hard to find thicker steaks in Thailand). For thin cuts, it's best to cook at much higher heat for a shorter amount of time. That's so that the heat doesn't have time to penetrate much further than the surface. Thicker steaks, slightly lower temp for longer. You can adjust accordingly. That is, of course, depending on how well you like your steak. I try for a medium rare most of the time. Looking back, this one could have been cooked at a higher temp for shorter time. I hope that helps! Good luck :)

    what setting is your induction cooker?

    • @meatyeatythailand844
      @meatyeatythailand844 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe this was med-high heat. But it should really depend on the thickness of the steak and how you like it cooked. For thinner cuts like this one, I think a somewhat high temp is best if you want a pink, med rare center. For thicker cuts, maybe little lower setting and leave on a little longer. Also, induction cookers tend to vary. This is just a cheapie from Power Buy in Thailand :)
