help for caregivers! -- better dementia care, including problem prevention and problem solving, --> = there are better ways, being taught by Teepa Snow. It is called 'Positive Approach to Care' and I wish I had had these clases when I took care of my Mother. Teepa also shows ways to help people, need less care by changing to "Care Partnering". Knowledge is power. I learned about it at The Kensington.

Group home - Is anyone who owns a home, thinking about starting a board and care or group home, of their own? Especially because it is hard to find one in this area [Pasadena Altadena] because of the high cost of real estate. For me. Money from my home, is going to pay for my retirement. [one way or another] I am thinking about it. But I would need to find a better house, because a 'care home', needs 3-5 bedrooms.

Stay at home is the goal of most of us. Home Health aids, including Pasadena Village volunteers, Can help with many ADS, and many other things. Home care organizations, are now talking about care sharing. For example. So if you need 2 hours and so does your neighbor, things can be worked out to, share a caregiver.

Thanks so much for researching and sharing this important history. My ancestor fought alongside the First Ky Black cavalry at Fort Bull Nelson, many of whom relocated to Altadena after the Civil War. John Brown, Jr. did the leg work. His grave marker is still up there.

Beaches were not legally segregated, but there were many that were off limits to Black people in practice. Dockweiler beach and Bruce’s beach were the ones that were known to be accessible to Black folks. There were small stretches of Santa Monica beach that were accessible to Black folks but not the entire area.
