It’s not. The seventh cord would be F diminished. I start by naming the number of the cord and then stating the name of the cord. It might be a little confusing if your simply reading the text on screen.

You are correct. I’m just borrowing from the key of E flat major on the four and five chords. So I’m playing an A- flat and a B-flat and then landing back on C major.

Agreed. If you play the same thing over and over again, it can get old quickly! That's the beauty of having so many chord options. Keep it fresh.

You're correct in that it is technically an 'add' if you include the 3rd with the 2nd or 4th. I've seen it notated both as a 'Cadd2' or rather a 'C2' chord. A Cadd9 typically indicates that the 7th is played as well due to 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths all being 'extensions' of the 7th chords. Unfortunately so much of this tends to be subjective. But thanks for the input. It helps clarify for those scratching their heads.

aCtUaLLy...(I'm sorry) add9 doesn't indicate the 7th being played, that is what we use the 'add'​ for. A C9 would include the seventh, a Cadd9 doesn't.@@pianosity

Thanks for the input. As was said, a lot of this tends to be subjective, depending on where you’ve come from musically(I.E. Traditional/classical, jazz, Nashville, country, etc.) there’s a lot of discrepancy in the area of chord symbols. That’s why it’s good to educate ourselves and clarify when playing with other players. Thanks again for the input.

I used an upright piano out of keyscape for this performance. Other keys on the original track include either a Hammond or Lowery organ and a Wurlitzer style keyboard.

I believe it was a combination of a Yamaha C7 grand piano, and a Roland MKS, digital keyboard.

@@pianosityDid you use Keyscape and Omnisphere to pull all these sounds off, because you mainly used them in worship artistry.

It was just keyscape although I do run it through Omnisphere in case I need to tweak it further.

You're correct. B# technically does exist just like E#, Cb, & Fb. They're just not on 'black' notes, and it seems easier for beginners to understand sharps and flats by relating them to the 'black' notes. The four notes mentioned above are played typically by more advanced players.

That doesn’t make sense my man. One, not everybody understands numbers, especially those who know nothing about music, two… numbers alone will not fully explain what exactly makes a particular chord a chord, and three, the numbers you just laid out don’t align with anything he just explained.
