Where do you find the clip list, video doesnt go into enough depth
Got you covered! That's just in a different video. Watch this and you'll be all set! th-cam.com/video/AwJMSkdWDqA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_QO3M6-4nKnxWL_n
@ would probably be smarter to include all necessary info in the same video because if one video doesn’t give me all the answers I need I’ll assume the same about all the others. Just a tip
This video was originally intended to be part of a series of videos that scale up one after the other. I'm not a fan of overly long videos so I try to keep things short, as I see these as specific searchable solutions and not large comprehensive fixes. So in this case, not knowing where a clip list is is user interface issue whereas not knowing what to do with audio channels is an audio issue. In this series, the user interface stuff is front loaded in the beginning to help keep the more advanced processes streamlined in later videos. I get what you're saying though! So Def something I'll stew on! Here's the whole playlist if you are curious. th-cam.com/video/8WIpuaFdWG4/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Well done! The notion of the existence / non-existence of folders within a ProTools "session" is puzzling. When ProTools is running the folders exist "ready to be used" , but if unused are deleted - except for the "Session File Backups" folder which is persistent. And by persistent I mean it exists whether ProTools is running or not.
Definitely a curious choice!
How to reset volume by defualt ? Double click doesn't work
Option + Left Click (Mac) or ALT+Left Click (Windows)
@@GoodMorningAudio thank you ❤
You are a life saver 🤘🏼
How do you copy and paste a section of a track to another track?
Highlight whatever you'd like to copy with the Selector Tool and just Control+C (COMMAND+C on Mac) to copy and Control+V (COMMAND +V on Mac) to paste. Just remember you can't copy and paste from a stereo to a mono track or mono to stereo. The number of channels on the tracks needs to be the same.
Straight to the point 🙏🏾💯🔥
thank you for helping!
Happy to help!
old ... in newer protools version it dosen't work with b😞
Nope! It 100% works. You need only activate the keyboard focus for the edit window. It's that little square in the top right hand corner of the edit window. Click on tat once and it highlight and then all of your single key keyboard shortcuts will work as expected. Let me know if you get it working!
no ... this doesn't work here!
@@mimcri Thanks for responding! I assure you it definitely works. I'm always on the most recent version of PT. Check this video here to make sure you're activating the correct keyboard focus as there are a few of them spread around the program interface. th-cam.com/video/19pi441xAeo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FCcNE6MkcNT5Lnqo&t=133
Do that make difference in volume?
It does!
Hi, thanks for the clarity. Are the shortcuts for pc the same?
If you have single key shortcuts activated (the A/Z button highlighted yellow in the top right hand corner of the edit screen... not the clip list!) then the single key shortcuts are the same on PC!
Hey thanks for clear explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
would the way to prevent this be just recording in mono?
Absolutely! However, some recorders, cameras, and apps don't always give the option for this so it's more of a common problem that one would think!
How do you make sure they’re all blue
The bracket encompassing the tops of the three main buttons is also a button itself. If you click on that, it will highlight all three as shown in the video. I hope that helps!
@@GoodMorningAudio yessir thank you, I figured it out shortly after
@@DonNaireo Excellent! Sorry for the slow response!

Great tutorials! You are my first port of call with any Pro Tools learning issues. If you don't mind, I'd just like to clarify one issue with this tutorial: you advise not to click the 'Create From Template' option, which I can understand initially, but would it be the norm to save the newly created session as a template and just re-use it for future projects by selecting 'Create From Template'? Apologies if the answer is obvious, but I just wondered if, maybe, there is a reason why templates are best avoided.
THANK YOU! You could absolutely do that and in some cases I do. For my studio... where I use Pro Tools in conjunction with a lot of external hardware, I have a number of templates setup for this so I don't continually need to route stuff. For editing and project building I rarely use templates because I don't often use the same approach for things. However there's nothing wrong with the approach! Whatever helps you get the job done. When I have new students I often recommend not working with templates because I think it over complicates whats happening when someone is learning the program. So I prefer to help people with less happening and a clean timeline. Template away though if you know what yer looking for! :)
Very nice series! When I create a template, can I make these preferences included in the template when I save as template? Newby question but I don't have my iLok on this computer currently. ~Thanks!
You ABSOLUTELY can do this! It's very easy to setup and manage. Setup your project the way you'd like for it to be, then click on FILE/Save as Template... then choose the category and give it a name! Done!
Thank you, cuz idk what time bro was on
Thanks!

You're welcome!
thanks for the tutorial on yoga song
Would that be a good option for sound healing instruments plus vocal sound together? Like chimes, bells, and also shaman drum or crystal bowl and voice together? Thank you!
I think it could do a decent job for sure. You main considerations would be the room and placement. The MIX between your instruments and voice would have to be done organically. What you do would largely be dependent how loud the instruments are compared to the voice. That and how reverberate is the room you are in? I think the mic would capture the performance well for sure though. Remain playful with microphone placement and I'm betting you can find some good results!
Thank you, I just purchased one and appreciate the tutorial. I'm going to try it this weekend at an outdoor festival for recording some of the shows. I don't know how close I can get but it appears that I need to be as close as possible. Thanks again!
You are welcome and I hope the endeavor goes well! CLOSE is good for most sound sources but a big festival with a loud PA, just find the best sounding spot. Loudness wise you'll probably be fine most anywhere unless you are in the back of the place! Cheers!
Yeah, I agree with the others. Good, well-laidout instructions
Thanks! Positive feedback is always appreciated. Cheers!
you deserve way more subscribers, Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you too!
I’m using pro tools first , i don’t have the individual volume control for clips, is there a way to turn it on ?
Thanks for asking but I haven't used Pro Tools First at all so I'm not sure what it can or can't do.

need help with the command line part as i need a file to be normalized once every hour. yes this is for a audio server
Sorry, I haven't been using Switch for a long while. I can't help you on this one! Good luck!
Thanks! Well done. I have a question. I am trying to record voice (speaking) and flute demonstrations in the same video. And I am experiencing some problems finding the right setting for that. What would be the ideal setting for that? I been trying different configurations and in general voice sound less loud than the flute. Quality is ok but the problem is balance bettween voice and flute. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!
That's going to be tricky with a single microphone. I'll brainstorm a couple of options for you though because what's more fun than an audio problem? lol. So IDEALLY, you'd try to address a situation like this with two microphones. One for the voice and one for the instrument. ESPECIALLY when the instrument is going to be significantly louder than the voice is going to be and ESPECIALLY if the voice and instrument are in close proximity to each other. When recorded like this you could mix the two mics independently of each other and you'd be set. If you are only planning on using the MV88+ on it's own, a good option, if possible, would be to recording the instruction separately from the performing, though I suspect that this is going to REALLY up the amount of time you spend editing the video. If you want to speak and play in one take with just the MV88+, you could try this out: Set the MV88+ to a figure 8 pattern (referred to as Mono Bidirectional) in the manual and app). This is more or less setting up the MV88+ to have two mono microphones pointed in opposite directions. You could set the levels on the mic for your speaking voice, keep one side of the mic (it might help to get a long cable for this and clip the mic to a boom stand) around 3 inches away from your mouth and have the other side pointed down the length of the flute. This isn't IDEAL as you are way off axis from the flute but the MV88 is pretty sensitive and the flute can be pretty loud. You'll need to edit the audio later so you can split the channels, center them and re-adjust the volume for each independently. Some extra considerations... I'd probably turn on the peak limiter to avoid the excessive volume of the flute clipping the recording. If you are in a room with a lot reverb, the further from the sound source you are, the greater the reverberation will sound in the recording, that might be a nice effect on the flute, but distracting on the voice, hence keeping the mic closer to your mouth. Another maybe simpler option, set the mic up MONO CARDIOID, place it directly n front of you maybe 3 or 4 feet away, like directly on the phone when you are filing, recording everything as is, and later when editing edit all of the spoken sections and place them on a new track, raise the volume of the voice and use some kind of restoration/reverb removal tool to temper the excessive room noise and reverberation the voice will probably have compared to the flute. Depending on your skill level.. something simple to use might be DxRevive. There are of course more complicated and effective tools but DxRevive is pretty good and pretty easy to use. It's a tricky problem but maybe some of these ideas will work or, at the very least., inspire a new solution to come to you while trying! Hopefully some of this helps!
@@GoodMorningAudio Thank you very much for your quick and detailed answer to my problem! I will try your suggestions soon. Best!
Thank you sir

Excellent job! Extremely informative! I have a question though. On Pro Tools 12.5 HD the fade box in the middle of the fade area (shown at 2:15 min of the video) doesn't show so I cannot bend the fade curve. Is there an option at the Setup I have to tick in order for the fade box to be shown? Thanks in advance!
Check and see if you have your Smart Tool enabled. You can see how to do that right here: th-cam.com/video/19pi441xAeo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Gqwd9zdpxAb9gCDm&t=95 Once this is activated, you should see the behavior you are looking for! Let me know how it works out! Cheers!
@@GoodMorningAudio Thanks for your reply. Smart tool is almost always on for me.
This might sound silly, but ZOOM in on the fade so it appears larger on your screen, does the smart tool behave any differently with the visually larger fade box displayed?
@@GoodMorningAudio Nope it's not the zooming level. I maxed it out to no avail... Thanks anyway mate! Keep up your good work!
Nice video, question. I already adjusted some of tha volume in some regions due to harsh sounds, and now tha harsh sounds are gone, but. Now I want to turn tha whole entire section of that word up, and when I do, my lines are not flat, it looks like I am building a house with tha lines if that makes sense. Do you know how to turn up tha whole volume on that section "after" I already turned down some of tha words in that same section ? Thanks
Thanks for the question! Watch the linked to section of this video and just apply everything I do for panning, to the volume envelope instead! th-cam.com/video/_FTqcDO-7m8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WvX6RBc6c6K4Nfb4&t=271

Hello, I would like to know if this equipment consumes a lot of cell phone battery, especially iphones haha thanks!
It def hit the battery but how hard exactly depends on the phone, age of the phone and hell, the temperature outside. For Hour long stuff it's easy, beyond that I'd bring a charger along!
thanks! would you recommend buying for voice and guitar video recording?@@GoodMorningAudio
In all honesty I think it’s a pretty great mic for voice and guitar. in it’s price range for mobile gear I think it’s probably the best option. There’s always “bigger and better” but that’s always adding more layers and dollars. For its price (considering you already own the phone/camera/supercomputer) it really can’t be beat.
thanks

Why do they make cutting an Splitting so freakin complicated. Something that takes just 1 Click in other daws
The curse of options I suppose! I think any DAW that's been around for so long has odd cases of feature creep here and there. If you have any questions feel free to ask! Cheers!
@@GoodMorningAudio I'm good sir , i figured it out with the Ctrl+E option. But , still upset because it's a little time wasting

great question! no. the mic used for most of my videos is a shure sm7b. cheers!
Good stuff! Mine says could not delete source file. Check permissions.... Any help? Thanks!
Are you working from the desktop? Sometimes that can be an issue... especially if you have that desktop sync'd with any cloud software. I'd try a different folder that is a) not the desktop and b) not being used by any other apps! Best of luck!
I have 1 mic how can I record in stereo?
if you have an MV88 you can set it up in stereo mode using the shure motiv app. look 1:41 into the video to see the section of the app im talling about. Hope that helps!
Thank you ! First 26 secs and you fixed my problem!
